  1. So you're the lucky bugger! Lance showed them to me as he was building them up. Sweet rims, dude.
  2. @ Martinsnyman - just a reminder that sag must be checked when in a standing position, not sitting.
  3. Depends on the type of riding you do, really. Jeeptrack and district roads, no you won't notice a difference. Single track, drop offs and jumps, railing berms like a mofo, hell yeah.
  4. I think if u look at my original post, I said that too.
  5. Yeah, the Enduro is a VERY nice option. The best value bike in my opinion is the Giant Reign. Very well priced for what it is, and you can add the Teocali to that list as well. I think you can get a Reign 2 for about R 25k all in, and that includes a dropper post, wide bars and full SLX kit. If you're looking 29er as well, then the only REAL options in the AM range would be like the Santa Cruz Tallboy LT and similar bikes, but then you're looking at big tom once they're built up. For a more trail / AM mtb (still extremely capable - just ask Dan at iRide Africa) then the Trance 9er gets the nod for a budget 9er trail bike that can be used as an AM weapon. Also the PYGA 110 29er.
  6. You actually need a specific 15mm thru axle fork. You can't convert an existing fork to take that axle unless you change the lowers. Then you'd also need to rebuild your wheel around a new hub that can take the 15mm axle standard. Again, you need a specific hub for this as most qr hubs cannot be converted to take the 15mm axle.
  7. Dhl will furnish you with an invoice, you pay them they pay SARS.
  8. Afaik yeah fine to ride alone. Don't ride there myself though so I don't know it well.
  9. Chain slap yes. Easily fixed with garden hose and a few cable ties (look on the mcguyver thread) And yes to the 2 sizes. That's normal shimano. Unless yours is xtr.
  10. Bear in mind that your big ring must not be bigger than 1.5 times your small ring. Iow - 28 small, 42 big.
  11. ah. The pad reach adjustment. That would do it.
  12. To add to marinio, in my case it's the following: More clearance at the BB for technical trails (the only trails I ride, really) Simpler Only one shifter to worry about Makes me tougher (don't have the granny as a cop-out, and if I can ride it to the mast, it's good enough for me) DOESN'T mean I spin out. I don't ride at more than 40kph on dirt roads for extended periods of time - I don't view that as mountain biking. Jeep track is there to get to the top of the trail or inbetween singletracks. If I go faster than that, it's gravity doing the work with me trying to keep my hands off the brakes More control (again, the clean bike principle) Cleaner look around the BB
  13. LOL. No wonder it's sore... And I thought it was from yesterday's ride...
  14. Haha... was my drink of choice while in the UK. Out of bottles though - be warned. That stuff is lethal hangover material.
  15. Yeah he is. Fox 36 160mm. And apparently the BB is quite low. Makes for a really responsive ride (so I'm told - still need to ride it)
  16. Not on everything, but it's high in fat and not much else. On an lchf diet it's a staple. And the lchf worked for me while I was on it. Just that, logistically, it was a nightmare for me to follow.
  17. By bled properly I mean the system must be flushed of the old fluid and fully replaced with new. Any proper lbs should be able to do this for you.
  18. The brakes need to be bled properly. Either water or air in the system.
  19. Or - just get an old 42t chainring or something and file it down... That's what Flowta did on his Sanction...
  20. ISCG. And this is just a preliminary. I have more polyprop for subsequent, potentially improved designs.
