  1. I will say. Coming from a mate who tests bikes, as well as witnessing what can be done on one - both the anthem and the pyga are IMMENSELY capable bikes. The pyga is just that much more capable and spans more disciplines. I'd kill for one if I hadn't found the perfect bike for me (reign x)
  2. Buy it anyway. You never know what bike you'll have In a year. It's tax season after all.
  3. Fark me that's a good price. But then I prefer the RC2DH damper. Personally. 2 step just had too many failures for my liking.
  4. Okay. My input. As a heavier guy (105kg) I'd be happier on the pyga vs the anthem. Longer travel bikes are generally built tougher, which is also why I suggested looking at the trance 29er over the anthem.
  5. Fair enough cap. I knew this (back from my technika mechanika studies) but Ito wheel building flex has a marked effect on fatigue related failures. Or, at least, can have if sufficiently pronounced
  6. Hope r great. But even better are the superstar switch evos. Less than half the price and just as good. Plus they can be here in 4 to 5 days.
  7. Would you care to tell us how flex on a metal structure (any structure actually) doesn't create fatigue, over time?
  8. My bike is in my car. My wheels (Spank Subrosa laced to Superstar Switch Evos with DT Competition spokes) are in the boot. If I try to flex the wheels when they're attached (20mm thru axle at the front, 12mm rear) they flex perhaps 1mm either way, if I were to estimate the distance. And I can push / pull HARD. Flex matters (again, I don't know why I'm telling you this) because it affects the way the bike handles. Tires flex, as do stanchions, wheels and frames. It is the aim of the manufacturer to limit flex in the frame & fork and wheel as much as possible, so that the tire can flex in its own "space" and thus grip properly. The more the rim flexes, the more your weight will be thrown to the outside under cornering forces. Likewise with fork flex and frame flex (in simple terms) All flex is cumulative. If the tire, wheel, fork and frame flex more than a certain amount, your ride is going to be inherently unstable, and you will not be able to control the bike as you want to. Like trying to control an eel, pretty much, To say that flex does not matter unless 2 components touch is highly irresponsible as well as incorrect.
  9. He has a Reba. They can be adjusted (spaced) to run at 120mm travel. You're supposed to know this, Johan.
  10. No, the pyga would fit very well. Definitely not too much travel. You could also have a look at the trance 29er. More comfortable than the anthem and more capable as well
  11. I'm not saying that some people don't imagine it, but to say flex is meaningless unless 2 components touch is frankly ludicrous in its level of fail. Johan, you claim to be all knowledgeable in things bike related but this faux pas (and a couple of previous ones) has just blown a hole straight through your credibility.
  12. I think it's anything above 3k will have normal import duties attached to it.
  13. One of the stupidest comments I've seen here... And there have been some pearlers, so I congratulate you Johann Flex? Irrelevant? Go have another drink, man. Or better yet, tell that to a professional rider or even someone who is a weekend warrior but pushes his limits all the time. That's liek saying sidewall flex has no impact on handling. Utter BS
  14. Personally I prefer stiffness in pretty much all applications...
  15. There's your problem. The Alex rims that come with scott (and Giant) are notoriously soft and badly built. Replace or rebuild with a proper wheel builder and the problem will be solved.
  16. Lekker Sweiss! Glad to have helped you through a tumultuous time in your life. September's closer than you think!
  17. The force is strong in this one. Seriously. Both volumes one and 2. Read. Enjoy. Absorb. Implement.
  18. Lol. Mostly yes. But in this case, bring it. I'm sure me and a couple of others will answer as best we can
  19. Yeah Wayne, critical for xc for sure. But with am and trail the fitters try to fit xc fitment criteria to a totally different discipline. You know how bad that can be in your day to day stuff.
  20. Yeah. Really. The professional bike fits at least. The initial setup according to height and reach is cool, but for anything trail or am or DH you go with what is comfortable.
