  1. Rofl. Granted, last time i rode it was 3 years back on a crappy little silverback and 80mm fork, but i've walked it and seen the difference.
  2. Audiophile is the one who loves music so much that he has an endless pursuit for a system that does the music the most amount of justice, and elevates it to the true art form it was meant to be.
  3. I just have a simple system at the moment that I brought across from the UK. Just a Marantz pm7200 stereo amp maed with Jamo x550 floor standers. It's a do it all system. Movies, music and tv. And the speakers are under powered by te amp. I'd love to get a simple, snappy system. But i'm so out of touch that i need to read 4years of What Hi Fi back issues to get back up to speed.
  4. was that the Satori? IIRC that was a wicked, wicked special by CWC. Like R 1,200 off (their) retail price
  5. bridal path is indeeed open, but I wouldn't ride it. It is soooo rutted and damaged from the rains. As in really, really really rutted, and rocky.
  6. I hate to say it, but anyone who thinks that 15k for a new, top of the line bike with Di2 is a "bargain" and simply must be bought before it goes, must have their head looked at. Lambs to the slaughter comes to mind.
  7. Ah. Yeah, the rotors can be a bit of an issue, which Avid themselves admitted. I've heard that swopping to Alligator discs, or the Shim Ice tech rotors actually work wonders. It's all about the heat dispersion, which the stock ones don't seem to handle well. Must say that mine are dead quiet though...
  8. LOL. I have Avids on both my bikes, and I must say I've had no problems at all. Elixir 5 on one, XX on the other. Both very, very nice systems.
  9. yeah, but the Giant has (reportedly) better geo for a hardtail of its ilk than the Silverback.
  10. Ah. Less than 100km again. I see... Hardly a fitting challenge for one trying to front the "Epic Battle Plan"
  11. Have you ridden the Elixir 5's? Have you treated them properly? Bled them, used them and actually held them in your hands while they deliver perfectly predictable stopping power and feel? Or do you just jump on the bandwagon and because your best mate's father's twice removed's cousin had them and didn't like them so they must be crap?
  12. No, stay with the 2012 dude! They've downgraded the fork to a RECON on the 2013, and switched to Shimano on the drivetrain. The drivetrains are comparable (some prefer SRAM while others prefer SHIMANO) and the brakes on the 2012 are good - Elixir 5's - I love mine, and I'm a heavy guy. The fork on the 2013 model is a DEFINITE downgrade. REBA is spans ahead of the RECON.
  13. Is that the jap equivalent of a tire? I ride my bike with big back RYRE... Ha ha!
  14. or stick an old crappy road wheel on there. You don't need any brakes, so no need to bother with disc specific wheels etc.
  15. Damn. Reminds me that I need to get my "collection" going again.
  16. Jees! Was so wet it also scrubbed all the paint off your frame, powdercoated it again and filed the dropouts into a new design! That's MOER of a wet!
  17. Yeah. I have a mate who is rueing the purchase of a bike with an F32 RL. he had a Revelation RLT Ti on his previous bike... And the lack of adjustability, and just plain feel, of the Fox (bottom of the range, remember) made him swear off FOX goodies forevermore.
  18. ROFL. Yeah, sorry N! Although, you still haven't bought the fork yet, have you... So this is kinda still related to your thread! Oh, and the RLC FIT is a good fork. Just that I prefer the Revelation RLT Ti. But Kashima is puurrrrrrdy!
  19. IMHO the CTD availability is over rated. I want all my travel available all the time, up or down. If not, you can just have the U-turn of the RS world, which works really well, also on the fly. As for the move to solo air, I don't like it one little bit. I don't like the fact that a little techie oke in RS has determined that the removal of the negative air chamber adjustability will benefit all riders. That's a lot of differences in rider technique, skill, needs and environments that they have to look out for, and they've effectively made it so that if yu want to change the negstive air chamber, you have to buy a new internal air spring, as opposed to just upping or decreasing the pressure in the neg air chamber. So... Heirarchy for me would be anything between 2010 and 2012 (dual air) and then only consider 2013, if they don't have stock of those 3 years.
