  2. eish, bro... not cool! But as you say, as long as the wife & kids are okay, you can build up from the experience and carry on. Never cool when something like this happens. The counselling is a good thing to have. I thought I was harder than that when I got 'jacked, but all it did was leave me high and dry until I talked to someone about it, who was able to steer me in the right direction. Mates, as good as they are, don't come across this sort of thing in their day to day business, and can't claim to have any knowledge on what will or won't work for you. That psych needs to be contacted. Glad you're safe though dude... could have been a whole lot worse. And watch your wife. For her (as mine was) the intrusion will hit FAR harder than it will you. It's even more important for her to go to the shrink...
  3. Yeh, rather look second hand. I sold my schwinn peloton (full carbon) with 105 for 8k5 a while back. Was a damn good bike, but I just didn't ride her often enough to warrant keeping her. Don't settle for less than 105, and get something that "feels" good. Ride before you buy. Insofar as the differences between the gruppos... As you progress up the ladder, the weight decreases all the time. "Sharpness" increases as well (the feeling of crisp chamges, smooth running etc) and longevity increases until you come to the top end which generally sacrifices longevity or strength in favour of decreased weight. As a minimum, look for 105. Don't look at Sora for your budget. It will disappoint you in the long run. Good luck bud.
  4. Its so that passing medics can reach something to scrape you off that rock you got a bit too attached to!
  5. Absolutely. I not for Raikonnen. But heck, Vettel was great. And I'm so happy for Kobayashi... As for Grosjean... He reminds me of Montoya lately
  6. And kobayashi takes 3rd! Wonderful drive from the Jap! And only the 3rd Jap to stand on he podium... And the first podium for Massa in almost 2 years...
  7. I know. I just thought she may have been wavering in her dedication to providing us with entertainment and pitchas! the build
  8. Of course not! But still - you can build it up into a hardtail! Just do that, until the shock arrives!
  9. Rocket Rons provide more grip than the Racing Ralphs. Ralphs are the lighter, XC racer style of tire that is suited more to hardpack than anything else. Rocket Rons are more of an all rounder, slightly heavier but a better tire for the front (imo) Dependign on how aggressively you ride, I might even suggest a Nobby Nic for the front. But seeing as you're in Gautengaleng, the Rocket Rons would be best for your conditions.
  10. sinuses closed. Sorry guys, won't be able to make it today. Sucks.
  11. Yay! Yay! Yay! Finally, the beast shall awaken!
  12. No need to change the crank on the Momsen - the new spec Deore (for the past 3 years, actually) is a fantastic crank. Stiff, reasonably light and long lasting. The only thing you'll gain by going to SLX / XT is a weight advantage. You would not even notice the difference between them unless you're at a professional level. Plus, the chainrings are cheaper to replace when they wear out. Only thing that would need changing in the long run (when they wear out / break or you crash) are the shifters. Alivio front mech is faultless, as is the SLX rear. For the moment though, the package on the Momsen supercedes the Scott, if only due to the wheels. You'll probably find that the majority of the weight savings are in the fork and the wheels anyway. Which would be big ticket items to replace. I'd go for the Momsen. It's lighter, better specced ito wheels & fork, and has a good mix of parts. And it's cheaper. So you can use the difference in price to fund a better helmet / more bibs etc.
  13. Now those are puuuuurdy! And I know that packaging technique well.... A sure sign that some V-effect has occurred.
  14. I'd even go so far as to contact the agents directly, let them know about your predicament, and get them to sort something out. It's doing the brand some damage, and you never know - you may just score out of it!
  15. CRC. They're still in JHB, 'cos they get DHL SA (based in JHB) to deliver to your door. So it is still like buying local...
  16. ROFL. Quite simple, really... Just like I'm a guy - it must look hot! I get the same request each time I make a new piece of furniture for the house - Make it Pretty...
  17. Much easier explanation here, D - You're a girl. You want it to look pretty!
