  1. Nah. Seen them live before... And yes, they were awesome.
  2. Watching movies while riding, with the headphones on. Works wonders for the boredom! My dog doesn't like the sound though, so he p1sses off upstairs to look for a place to sleep. Works wonders for the Little Mayhem's sleeping though!
  3. ROFL! Guess I'm safe then, 'cos I cook every night! But yeah - it is all about balance and mutual respect and understanding. If you respect her need to know where you are, what you're doing and how long you're going to be, then that's part one done. If you respect that she wants to be involved in what you do, even if it's knowing what route you're going to take, then cool. If you also understand that a woman's brain is wired totally different to a man's, and that if you're doing something different / strange, she WILL think about it and come up with the worst possible scenario, then you understand that she needs to know what is going on, if only for her own sanity. Also - you must compromise. I can't remember how many times over the last few months I've come home from the office, seen how my wife is looking and promptly cancelled my riding plans 'cos she looks just plain exhausted from carrying Little Mayhem and the lack of sleep she gets. Doesn't mean I don't exercise, 'cos I get on the IDT when I can (after dinner - which I cook) and all gremlins are chased away. But she still recognises that I need to get on the mountain every weekend, and accepts it (even pushes me if it looks like I'm slacking!) And regarding that book - Love Languages - yeah, it is good. Makes you think about things that you may not have thought about, and truth be told it did give me a couple of "huh - so that's what" moments. Bottom line - marriage / relationships are all about give and take as well as mutual respect for each others needs. Get that sorted, and it (should) be plain sailing.
  4. And that, folks, is the recipe. Simple, elegant, and yet highly effective.
  5. Cool... brands are much of the same, but some of the "tried and tested" that have a wide range of options are: Easton Funn Truvativ Brave Ritchey (more towards XC though - means lighter & narrower) FSA Thomson (i think limited to seatpost and MAYBE stem in your case) Spank Deity Answer and the list goes on. There isn't really a BAD brand, but the flex / strength / weight differs from make to make and category to category.
  6. ROFL. Must have you confused with someone else then...
  7. Hmm. Very subjective. Thomson is lightweight, yes, but may be a bit weaker than others in the same price range (and are a tad expensive) What sort of riding are you doing though? If Trail / All mountain, then you'd be better going for something 710mm up, which Thomson don't do on the handlebar side. If AM, then you'll NEED a dropper post. That's next on my list! My current cockpits Brave Monster handlebar (750mm, heavier, but STRONG) KORE B1B Stem both less than R 300 on sale at CRC (bars R 200 stem R 280) DH bike Truvativ BooBar (780mm, light and STRONG) Funn Rippa stem (heavy as sin, but strong as phuck) so it all depends on what you want to do, and how you want to ride. It's useless recommending one company over another when they deal strictly in lightweight componentry and may not provide a bar / stem / post in your desired strength / length / width needs. But yes - most of the stuff on the market is good. As long as it isn't Crap Bros.
  8. You even get her to go along with her parents and Raphaela (as well as the one that's almost here) to Tokai, and persuade them that waiting in the rain for you is the right thing to do, eh mate? :-)
  9. Rofl. And yes, that does mean that I SUCK up the hills.
  10. ROFL! No dude, just looking at how my wife and I interact with training etc and advising accordingly. Helps that she's a squash player (provincial) so she knows what goes into training and sport in general. But I just try o correspond my training around her oing things she wants to,or is, doing. Like thissundy is her mte's 30th, which is girls only. That's 4 hours I have to train and ride etc.
  11. She's not a chic... Dizzy is a Woman. Smart AND good looking. And, best of all... She likes action flicks!
  12. Looks like the Hub is going back to dating site days!
  13. Then i must be Chewbacca sized according to you. 103kg, 6ft. Fighting weight is 90 and i look stupid any lighter due to my build
  14. Haha! Yeah... But re-read the edited version, bro.. And yes, it is an overused phrase. But heck, it's valid!
  15. It's no rocket science! At the moment, I'm sitting at home with the Iightie chillin on my chest while wifey is out running. He's not old enough for a running pram yet, so that's not a viable option, but it will be in he future. I generally ride in the afternoons, just before i get home, if i can. If not, i just use the idt. But on the weekends i ride saturday and sunday, or have a build day going on etc. As long as I tell her about it early enough, it's cool. What Iron says is right - my wife does just sit and wait for me if I'm out, unless she's doing stuff of her own like gym (where she can leave the little one and wok out) But as for stopping me from doing something, only if it interferes with something we planned before, or if i am out longer than expected. Then I get the look. But just ask yourself how you'd feel in her situation. It's all about compromise. Case in point: build day in tokai on saturday, scheduled to start at 1 and finish godknowswhen, and i want to ride beforehand. But she now wants to go for dinner, so i'm going for a ride at 8 and am going to build from 10 so i can leave earlier and get back itime to freshen up for dinner at 5 (yes, it is an early dinner)
  16. You put apostrophes in the right place. That's good enough for me!
  17. Tank, surely the top of the line one has a typo? That's clearly an RS on there, not an RST. And the price?
  18. let's just say this - there's a reason they're running the Easton Havocs on the DH circuit. The Eastons really are that good.
  19. 90 grams difference in weight for an immeasurable difference in strength and durability. Not to mention bling!
  20. not that much heavier at all. The V has built his PYGA Zero 29 up with them and the build is light. Fantastic wheels. Bombproof as well.
