  1. +1 HRR allows for the effects of increased fitness. Your max HR is unaffected by fitness levels as it is a genetic thing.
  2. Hey? Why not?
  3. Thanks, will make a turn past the LBS tomorrow.
  4. I heard helicopters circling mere seconds after posting that...
  5. Stoopid question - are the MTB size bomb thingies big enough to bomb a completely flat 29x2.2in tyre? If not, what does one do - simply use more bombs?
  6. Get a dual susser - it's rocky as hell. Your body will thank you for it after a couple of days. Only the crazy Europeans ride HT 26ers. And possibly a couple of Saffers with rocks in their heads.
  7. Terrible photo, but beautiful bike My new baby, picked her up yesterday afternoon. Tallboy carbon with full XTR (except XT brake levers), weighs in at a shade under 11.00 kg.
  8. Do as many ultras as you can. For me learning to k@k off for 7+ hours in 1 go was the most important thing. The Sabie ultra this year was murderous and helped with the mental toughness that I think most will agree is the most important thing. IMO the 'standard' 3 day stage races don't really get you to that next level.
  9. I saw you - I was the guy with a case of beers strapped to my top tube.
  10. I feel your pain. Just sold my stumpy dual-susser to afford a 29er, only because I couldn't afford both. I nearly cried when the guy picked it up last week!
  11. Nice one - thanks!
  12. This is what I am considering. I had the Pro II's on my 26er and I liked them. What sort of price should I be looking at for a build like this?
  13. Sounds like a plan. Do you also struggle to get certain tyres on these? I've heard that some Stan's rims are pretty tough to get tyres on.
  14. Nice!!! How long you had the CK hubs?
  15. You riding them?
  16. What hubs did you build them onto?
  17. Anyone been riding these for a decent amount of time? I'm particularly keen to know how tough these are? Looking to put them on my (hopefully) soon-to-arrive Tallboy.
  18. Bernie's no Jens Voight, but he's still tough as nails. So that coming from him is pretty hardcore. Respect. (FYI hellocolour, some MTB races do, contrary to widely-held beliefs, go uphill :-) )
  19. Nothing like a good Friday morning burn!
  20. For me the trick is to try to stay out of granny for as much as possible. I find a bit more momentum makes the rocky stuff more rideable. Also, the harder the gear, the sooner it's over!
  21. And now???
  22. Yeah - team orders. Then Kimi will go on to win. Beaut.
  23. Loving the lotuses up there. Go Grosjean!!
  24. From my experience it would say that Specialised bibs are perfectly in the middle of the two extremes. I'm 6'0 and large on the bibs is perfect.
  25. Done it a few times - my 10c worth : don't underestimate the 30 odd km after the monster. They are tough! But the monster is a beaut of a climb. Always get a sense of achievement when getting to the top.
