If I remember correctly, the bottlenecks were caused by the 20,40 and 70 coming together with a about 5 or 6km to go. Only the really fast A batch marathon riders got through ok. If you were mid pack marathon or doing the 40 you were basically stuffed. Looks like Tim and the boys have learned their lesson in previous races, so hopefully this will also be better(?)
The poms were well and truly schooled by our boys. Apart from a couple of errors by AB that was an all round master class in cricket. IMO our bowling attack is as close to complete as ANY team has ever been (include Aus 90's teams).
IMO, whether or not we can claim him for our own is a moot point. I think the most important thing is his attitude. Clearly he is destined for greatness. My hope is that when he gets to the pinnacle of his career, he doesn't forget what got him there (ie. work ethic and the support and belief of those around him.) If he manages that, I will be his biggest fan!
Go for XTR. Sure at about R 1200.00 its pricey, but look at what you get. They are maintenance free, weigh very little, bullet-proof and shed mud better than anything out there. Plus, they look awesome.
Toughest race for me yet was Sabie ultra this year. The heat with over 3000m of climbing made it almost unbearable. I have it secondhand that the ultra distance at Induna this year was so hard that only 5 people finished - is that true? That would make it even worse than Sabie. Would dig to try Attakwas - aka hardekwas...
Fair enough, he's on a huge contract - but it seems a shame that he should play second fiddle to Wiggens. Froome showed in the Vuelta that he's good enough. If Sky backed him then instead of Wiggens he could have won it. The arrogance comment is probably jealousy speaking... :-)
Early days, but I hope Froome keeps it up so he can get picked up by a team that will back him for a GC win in a grand tour next year. From the sound of Wiggens' interview yesterday, there is barely enough room in the Sky team for him and his ego. Go Froomie!!
Goss is a cry baby. A big dude like him mustn't whinge about being bumped of his lead out train - he's done his fair share of shoving in the past. BTW, if you read the who article, it's Oscar Freire who is mentioned, not Sagan.
Not too sure that Shimano and pimp go together? IMO even XTR isn't pimp - its damn good, but certainly to common to be pimp. I do agree on XT being worth it though. (I'm running XT/XTR)
