  1. Awesome! My hands got sweaty just watching that!
  2. Congrats on the white jersey.
  3. IMO, metal. They take a bit longer to bed in, but last way better than the resin pads.

    Panorama 2012

I guess - but it still blows when he finished about 5 minutes ahead of us in the GC at the end. Granted it was only mid pack, but still... I hope he forgets to tighten his front quick release and goes over a bump too fast

    Panorama 2012

That was so good - I cant believe there aren't more road tours around anymore. It is so much better than a single day event. I'll definitely be back next year and also try convince a couple of my mates to come along. The thing that really p'd me off was the douchebag who hung onto the back of a truck going up the Spitskop climb on day 1. We reported him afterward but all he got was a too-friendly telling off from the stage that night. Some name and shame would have been awesome.
  6. Anyone else do Panorama? How much fun was that? Awesome weather, awesome scenery. Brilliant weekend away. Definitely be there again next year!
  7. +1. Can't wait!
  8. Joh, makes a bike look like a jungle gym!
  9. On the rainy day, I saw that Swiss dude on the tandem with his wife pick up the tandem and hurl it into the top a bush after getting stuck with chainsuck for about the 100th time. That was freakin' classic!
  10. Sorry - a bit of long weekend silliness. That wasn't helpful at all.
  11. I think it might be a mental problem. To shift into big ring, you have to really WANT to shift into big ring. See a sports psychologist.
  12. A couple of points: 1. You gotta want to finish it. REALLY want to - because at some point it is gonna suck. Crazy hike-a-bike climbs, long sections of thick unrideable sand, 40+ heat etc all take care of the corporate entries who liked the look of the brochure and didn't really know what they were in for. 2. You gotta look after your ass. You cannot ride if you cannot sit. I think this probably takes care of most of the DNF's 3. You gotta eat. If you bonk at a critical moment, you could miss a cut-off. I personally found the training much, much harder than the race, though.
  13. Let's bring this back to cycling - I wonder if a road cyclist who doesn't obey team orders could be taught a lesson by being made to ride a MTB for a few years? Random, pointless thought...
  14. Yeah, I heard at least 2 or 3 sentences to his team when he finished!
  15. It also seems that Kimi hasn't got any more chatty. Monosyllabic at best in his post race interview. Welcome back, motormouth!
  16. That's a really good idea! I'll keep a look out.
  17. Thank you. Those photos made me realize that it is time to leave work and go ride a bike!
  18. Not wanting to hijack your thread, Scoobyren - but in a similar vein - how can one get a taste of a bit of DH action? I own a GT Chucker and in the past a couple of mates and I have built a few small jumps to dick around on. I would like to give a DH course a bash on a proper big bike. I live down the road from the Waterkloof DH course and it looks like so much fun!
  19. Really? I tried one and it was the grimmest thing I've had since a Pina Colada Mule Bar!!
  20. I did Wilro last week and did notice that one actually has to be quite awake to keep in a bunch. I found myself out of the saddle a few times after not paying attention and losing a couple of bike lengths. It's a fine line between that and half-wheeling the guy in front of you. Totally different skill set, i guess?
  21. She's prolly stronger than me as well! Eina Eina Eina! Hard luck about your partner dropping out - no plan B?
  22. Ask The Oracle! :-)
  23. That has to be the most clear, concise and coherent answer to a question that I have seen thus far! TheV, please change your name to The Oracle - I have so many questions...:-)
  24. Hey? Why not?
  25. Yeah, I may have been a blasé when entering. The thought of 2000m of climbing a day is starting to sink in. Hope the scenery is good, cause there'll be plenty of time to enjoy it!
