  1. Or msg him on instagram... bogus_designs
  2. Might be better to post that under classifieds... https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/category/35-event-entries/
  3. If anyone still wants to do the race, I’m giving away my entry. All you need to pay is the R50 substitution fee. I picked up a cold on the flight home and still not feeling well enough to ride ???? Will play it safe and stay home tomorrow, and just live with my crap seeding for the Argus ????
  4. Does anyone know whether there are timed results for this event? and if so... my googling obviously sucks so if you could be so kind as to post a link
  5. Day started great. Mom and I got up early, trundle down to the start line, get in the chute at I’m off at 3D, ready for a day of great riding. I’m sitting in a nice bunch going down the Blue Route just before Ladies Mile, when I can feel someone touch my back wheel. Initially I can keep my balance, but then I feel my bike disappear underneath me and I hit the tar, 7-8 other bikes going down as well. I do a quick physical check and nothing seems to be broken. I finally manage to get up and move my bike out of the road, but my back wheel has 5 broken spokes so my race is over. One of the guys in the crash has quite a bad cut above his eye and broken collarbone, so a few of us unable to ride (as well as some helpful spectators) take care of him until the paramedics arrive. I must have hit something during the fall cause my chest was in quite a bit of pain, so I spent a few hours in the afternoon getting checked at hospital, but I am lucky. Nothing broken, no muscle damage, I am just severely bruised. Bruised with a side of bruises… I even have a gorgeous deep red stripe on my leg where I got hit by another cyclist who couldn't avoid me lying in the road. Everything happened so fast it's a blur, so I'm not sure how I managed to avoid any and all roasties. But I am supremely lucky. My helmet is cracked (it did its job) and my back wheel broken, but it's nothing that a bit of rest and a visit to the bike shop won't rectify.
  6. I have been following this thread every day, hoping for more good news. Keep fighting, baby Karmi. One of my friends in Durban had a preemie a few years back, and she has asked if anyone knows of a family in need of baby girls clothes including prem & tiny baby sizes. Would the family be interested? I would be happy to pay for courier costs.
  7. I hope someone might have a recommendation... I am looking for a company that can assist in specifying 2x coffee machines in a new office for approx. 80 people. Does anyone have a contact?
  8. All great and well earning it back over 4 months, but times are tough right now and I can't afford to shell out R2.5k on gym fees in one go. Unless I don't want to eat for the rest of the month. Or I could sell a bicycle
  9. I wanted to join the gym yesterday... R1725 joining fee??? Are they having a laugh? (probably are, on the way to the bank...) No such charge levied on Momentum members either... Can't afford to shell out R2k just to get a gym membership
  10. I wish I was closer so that I could attend... we had a fall in our group on a mtb ride not too long ago, and I felt rediculously helpless
  11. I'm making my way through the bike shops, stopping each time I drive past one
  12. I might have a few extra links of a SRAM PC 1071 lying around, if they'll fit...
  13. Going out on a limb here - I broke a part of my seat clamp on my road bike. The distributor has closed down in SA, so I am trying to get a replacement from the UK. I know some seat posts have the same type of clamping mechanism, and hoping I would find one that could possibly fit in the interim....
  14. It is... Luckily I fly to the UK for 2 weeks on Friday, so it can get out of my system while I am bicycleless
  15. Started a head cold on the way down to Sani2c with a blocked sinuses and scratchy throat. Then developed a cough in time for the last day. Sinuses have cleared up, but the cough is still lingering, which is keeping me off the bike. At least the coaches at my gym are happy to see me a lot more than usual...
  16. I have a Karbona road bike, the Zodiac. Had it for close to 3 years now, and still rides like a dream. I hated the carbon plank that some people call a saddle, but my better half loves it, so it's been on his road bike.
  17. Started feeling sick on Friday - blocked sinuses, sore throat. Today - lungs are starting to burn a bit. I think the cough will manifest in the next day or so My better half finished the build on my new bike on Friday night, so decided to do a quick 8km spin on her - what a beauty. I've been trying to rest for the remainder of the weekend - tough when there is a new steed in the stable and Sani2c is soooo close that I feel the need to do some last minute training.
  18. You can put me down for the Intermediate on 3 April
  19. I received an entry, but we decided against riding it as we're spending enough money to do Sani2c next year. If anyone wants me to keep it for substitution for them, let me know, otherwise I'll let it go back in the pot
  20. Since when does Spur count as gourmet dining??? That food is more likely to come back out the way its come in... Pretty much the same with the USN stuff. Its just an observation from someone who has multiple Crater Cruises under their belt that it has lost its soul. Good organisation, enough water points, and yes, bananas and potatoes are enough for basic food. But considering how the race used to be, I know that it could be so much more.
  21. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they had such a clause in their sponsorship agreement. All it does is make me want to take part in their sponsored events less. I don't buy USN products and never will. Throwing money at an event does not make it better if it comes with a big dose of ego. What happens is the in the end it negatively affects the participants. I turned down their drink all along the way, and the caffeinated liquid sugar at the end. I'll rather drink the not-so-great tasting Parys water.
  22. Personally I think the Crater Cruise has lost its charm. The organisation was good, as usual, but the race has gotten extremely generic. It used to be that the water points had a lot more vibe and individuality since the locals had more input in the rest stops. Nowadays I can rely on only getting USN (which I cannot stomach) or water, and some bananas. I remember just a few years back being given small packets of gummi sweets, koeksisters and similar home made goods. Often families brought their kids, and were just so happy to be able to help in any way possible. The only water point that stood out in my mind was the one on the corrugated road. The people there were so helpful and friendly. Apparently the had to get special permission from the organisers to be able to serve Coke (which I think is a joke -not everyone drinks USN) and were very liberal with adding ice to the water I was carrying to help with the heat. Also badly organised was that the gap between the 25km and 80km starts was not long enough, causing the teenagers catching the slower of the marathon riders and forcing us off the single track whilst barrelling past without even a word of acknowledgement. Personally I think this race has suffered from being included in the Nissan series. Its become interchangable with any other event and I don't know whether I will be back.
  23. I think the frame is too big at 56cm. It would rather be classified as a large frame, too bigfor someone at 1.69m. Rather look at something at 54cm (possibly 55). I am 1.77m and am comfortable on my 55cm frame
  24. I just found this online and think its a great idea (anyone with a new SS projects coming up?) <iframe width="480" height="360" src="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1804944614/lumen-a-retro-reflective-city-bicycle/widget/video.html" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"> </iframe> [/code] If anyone is keen to back them on their Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstar...ve-city-bicycle
  25. Just remember is training time for the ironman. You could see a lot of the same cyclists going for a run in the cradle about late morning. They won't be around for long after race day
