  1. Sounds like a stop off for a 2015 trip. Pics please.
  2. I got one of those, they are very bright. you will be seen. if you have one. It runs off the same battery as my front light so its a bonus.
  3. I have never run out of space.... yet. in winter i usually carry my knees guards, tools, phone & extra jacket, and there is still space for more if you need. the pack is pretty long but comfortable and secure, i don't find that it moves on my back..... provided its strapped on properly. I have a friend who has the 10L and he is able to fit his knee guards and essentials in, but it looks like a tight fit in the main compartment. There is always the helmet mesh which folds up which can become a makeshift compartment is things get full. I purchased the 16L cause i already have a small pack which i could use for short rides if necessary.
  4. I used to use postnet, but the post office overnight service is cheaper. I posted a wheelset a few weeks ago, Postnet wanted 1200 bones volume charge where as post office charged 250 bones for the same item. But if its under 1kg i think post net are 99 bones to deliver.
  5. I managed to get a CC16L 2 months ago for R800, buycycle had a special on and i think they are now in the R900's. Kief pack with plenty space. Swidle also had a special R500 for Dakine Nomad with bladder, it week after i baught my pack
  6. R1150 if I remember correctly
  7. I saw them yesterday at the fox store in canal walk, they have stock of the green and orange ones.
  8. How many stages are we riding?
  9. a few years ago i had a pair of Oakley spikes that replaced a pair of Serrengetti's i flushed down a manhole(best glasses i ever owned) the first pair's lenses bubbled, i sent them to the shop i purchased them at, three weeks later i heard nothing from them so i called their office which was in eastern cape at that time. The lady at who i spoke to said it was a pretty common problem and it was due to our climate difference here in south africa and their HD vision coating system, I did find it weird that she was telling me this, but thought maybe she's just new/honest, she then said that they are willing to replace the lenses at cost price R350 at that stage..... i obviousley did not accept that eventually after a fuss they sent me a new pair.... a year later same problem..... Now days i'm not keen on getting any glasses with any kind of coating on.
  10. Got it online from buycycle, the pack is quite long but just fits me. If you are in cape town you can pop in at the bike shed, I have seen that they keep stock, otherwise any rocky mountain dealer should have/be able to get as its same distributor.
  11. I had some Oakley's a few years ago, the lenses started bubbling after 1,5 years..... they replaced after I made a fuss, same problem with the second pair. These weren't sport specific but their regular shades so maybe their other lenses are better? Needless to say that I never bothered dropping a couple grand on another pair of oakes again after that. I looked at the evil eyes when I got some riding shades and they looked rad but got some rudy projects instead, purely for the photochromic thing.... they are cool but fog up real quickly in winter.
  12. I have an older lobo, fit is ok for a small pack, space is a bit minimal. Can just fit the necessities like multi, extra layer phone and food. I recently bought an evoc 16l pack which I'm using atm. Fit is excellent and plenty space for everything I need to take on an all day ride and weight is distributed well enough that the weight is not an issue, nice tool compartment and main compartment is plenty big to fit safety gear and extra clothing layers.
  13. I dont really like the samoosa thing going on in the top tube area, looks silly. Come to think of it, Didn't giant have that on the 2008 reign? If they did then I think a lawsuit is in order against spez..... give em some of their own medicine.
  14. Can't really say. I have only opened up and the lower section where the bushings etc are located. I haven't opened the internals of the upper part of the switch pulley yet.
  15. I've had my Command Post for about a year now. Only issues i've had has been cables snaps, but thats usual wear and tear. I'm not phased by having limited settings as i only require up and down. It's very easy to service, i've pulled mine apart and serviced a few times already and it's a 10min job. The post only sounds harsh when it rises, not damaging if it hits you. I've got mine set at 23Psi which is still pretty fast but soft if it does hit, still sounds harsh. I find that i am never low down toward the seat when its being raised, so nut cracking aint a big issue. I've seen many complaints about the single bolt clamp and can honestly say that the saddle has only shifted once, in the beginning. I switch the post between 2 bikes and i often loosen and tighten the seat trick is to wiggle it hard when tight then tweak it tight again. Its all on the youtube service video. I've purchased an extra lever kit for my other bike which costed half the price of the KS lever. I bought the seat cause it was the best bang for my buck at the time and stock of other brands were non existent, it was the only seatpost with 125mm available which could be self serviced. Still very happy with it.
  16. Don't fret, could be a blessing in disguise. Go try out an Altitude, Rocky Mountain suspension design is top class. My Slayer has the best rear suspension i have ever felt, absolute zero effect on chain and rear brake when active. I ride a narrow wide up front with a clutchless derailleur and haven't dropped a chain once in 5 months of riding it. RM bikes are doing very well in the Cape Enduro races as well. Contact Jaco at The Bike Shed, ask if they have one to test, i'm sure you'll dig it.
  17. Condolences to Lee's family, it is really a unfortunate event that took place that day. I had a bit of a reality check that evening when Lee crashed. Events like that keep me in check and help me be grateful for what i have today. Human errors occur very often on trails and things can go real bad real fast. I've had a fair amount of falls at Hoogekraal and they have all been due to human error on my part. Not the trails fault.
  18. Don't trust their guides, they are incorrect...Think its only a guideline as frame geometry differs from manufacturer to manufacturer.... just find the right sag with full kit on(I ran about 20-25%) with the O-Ring, make sure you are stationary and that the fork , if CTD, is on Descend. Ride with a shock pump for the first few times and if it feels to hard/soft let 5 psi out/in at a time ride and then test..... i found that my front end would not hold well on fast corners if fork pressure was too low, so i'd rather run a little hard at first...... that's my xp. I found that i was running about 60-65 Psi when fox suggested 81.....
  19. They are located just off Vissershok rd at Thaba Business Park in Hooggelegen rd. if you ride from Durbanville side toward Blouberg its the second left after the D'Urbanvale 3 way stop street.
  20. I only took for a short test run & I didn't have time to adjust my riding style so my comment may be a bit biased. In terms of ease of starting to jump, air height and distance, flex of larger wheels, could the niners really compete in the category the OP mentioned he wants the bike for? Not putting the 29er down, but i don't feel its suited for the type of riding mentioned. It can't be argued that the 9's are doing exceptional things in the marathon/xc events but on more aggressive stuff its not really doing so well. As skylark said, test ride all long travel wheel size bikes on some nice tech trails and get what feels best.
  21. I think you gonna struggle a bit getting 29 wheels off the ground, i did a short test ride on the Spez Enduro 29, awesome bike but wheels wanna stay down on the ground, you'll get more lift and air on smaller wheels as well as less flex on the rims. Thats why i baught a 650b after i tested the Enduro.
  22. Look..... at the end of the day Mr KE was wrong(there's no denying that, he admitted cutting the corner) Now people are talking about sportsmanship and throwing that word around a lot these days, Do you think that what he did was very sportsmanship like? I don't. Do you think he would've been a real sportsman by declining a win by admitting fault if no one said anything about the incident, I seriously doubt it. I don't feel that team Scott did anything wrong by bringing the matter to light. I probably would've done the same. Lots of emotions involved in racing and i'm sure they thought about that a lot while in the saddle that day. There's a saying, hang around a barber shop and u gonna get your hair cut. I also don't feel that Mr Sausser is very sportsmans like. Cheating is cheating my 2c's Peace
  23. May be saying that about 29" wheels one of these days.
