  1. anyone know who took the pics and where the timing results will be posted eventually?
  2. that was a brilliant event - well done guys. Awesome single tracks in the forests etc. Just wished the heater had not been left on.
  3. Kudos to STBB - they came through and sorted my son's prize after reviewing the footage etc. and gave him a 1st place in under 16 (2'nd overall) with some nice prizes. Well done guys, he feels much better now even though the results published will stand.
  4. My son who finished third in the 15 did not even appear on the results at all. He won't be back again for sure
  5. Slow down there - too many orange lines all over
  6. I signed up my son online for the 25 km - hope he doesn't bugger me up for that. Only now did I see the climbing of some 900 meters - ooops. I told him after his good results in the 15km Breast Challenge he needs to move to the bigger boy stuff.
  7. Only small complaint I have was my 13 y.o son came third overall in his 15 km race but they did not recognise him and tried to send him for a third lap with some other small blokes. When the mothers of the first four guys explained to the organisers the actual order of things they did not seem to register this and called the wrong names at the prize giving - my son left very heart sore and without his prize. Anyway - that's how life goes sometimes.
  8. That's one of those incidents you don't want to share with Joe Public - No?
  9. That was awesome - complete change from last weekends blizzard. Loved the single-track downhills - made up plenty positions when some folk took the outer line on the switchbacks. Well organised. Glad to see my time tumbled from the Slanghoek - must have just been a bad race and too little sleep before that one. Didn't feel like 1500 m climb though - anyone can confirm?
  10. Funny thing with technology, I saw my mates Argus time when we were 13 years old in 1986 was captured on the Racetech website while I was checking how he did in the Amashova.
  11. I so miss living in Howick - so close to all the best cycling spots - now that I am in Cape Town I have to ride far on the tar to get somewhere decent. At least I got to do the Karkloof Classic in May this year.
  12. I try and do an event on every weekend that I am not working and try avoid Sundays. I notice that in the Western Cape we have so many events on any given weekend especially now that spring is on us. I was just wondering how do you guys choose which event to participate in - not those racing for top spot or prizes, just someone that gets middle of the pack results like me and does it for personal improvement and technical/scenery/single-track reasons. I do seem to choose events I have done the year or so before to see how my time compares, but the routes seem to be changing from year to year so that's more or less out the window as a reason. I was wondering how you compare the events or do you guys just go for the biggest climb distance as a challenge or on cost etc. Very open ended question but would appreciate some advice on how you guys choose the best event suited to your style etc. Ta
  13. Slanghoek This am in wintry weather - some scenic river crossings http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG-20131012-00117_zps20f66d39.jpg
  14. I ran out of steam 10 km from end (63) but those Bar One's at the last table saved my life and got me home. Left my second skin at home and froze in just my cycling top. Saw a good couple of folk bail out and take the tar road back.
  15. Thanks - tossed it just in case I hit 40 km of 60 on the Slanghoek tomorrow and get the squirts as mentioned above. stop being a miser James
  16. I mixed up a batch last weekend and then got a breakdown at work and never saw my bike whole week. Can I safely use it tomorrow again or does it go stale/ off? And yes, I do turn my pennies a few times before spending them.
  17. Yesterday's 128 km round the peninsula - what was I thinking - weather was better than the legs however http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/th_Chappies_zps68384b6e.jpg
  18. 55 muddy, cold km's on a busy fruit farm
  19. I enjoyed the 55. After 3 weeks off sick it was great to be back all be it minus a lot of energy and race fitness. Bike will need a strip down this week - late nights ahead to be ready for Backsburg.
  20. You win the competition for most broken bones..... but did you get to ride in one of these on route to the + http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG00295-20110127-1925_2_zpseec7f010.jpg
  21. He definately ditched the bike when he saw he had cooked it already in the air. Safer to land on his legs than his plums on the saddle.

  23. My HR is avg 168 and max 183-6 or thereabouts
  24. When I add my Heart Rate from my Polar manually on my Endomondo workout, the callories burned jumps to nearly another 75%. on what it assumes from the ride stats.
