  1. Thanks, will give it a shot at FleaBay
  2. I have a tub of that at home - thanks Don't want to strip unless I know I can get seals. So far dead end on all online shop websites
  3. Anyone know where I could get a set of seals in Cape Town? Tried Bridge cycles and they contacted their supplier who no longer has any. I haven't stripped them yet but I wanted to change the break fluid due to some very high temperatures on some recent long steep downhill's where I smelt some horrible things going on in the breaks. If there are no longer seals available, can one strip, clean and refit or will the seals not hold any longer? Break system 3 years old now
  4. Or a helicopter - worth the pain http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG00295-20110127-1925_2_zpseec7f010.jpg
  5. I did a K@K parking outside so had to rush back out after collecting my number so as not to collect a fine - made it back in time not to cost me more than the entry fee but missed out on the expo mostly. Tried to buy at CWC but card machine out of order I assume due to load shedding so no luck there either.
  6. That 55 was awesome - nice fast single track through the forests. Had one near miss with that huge dip in the forest with high speed entry. Thank goodness my arms were able to keep the sternum from a horrible injury
  7. Never seen or heard Santana but saw Steve Newman and Tony Cox jamming together at Barleycorn Music Club and also at the Baxter once - Those two in my opinion are, as J Clarkson says," the best.....(pause) in the world.!!
  8. Totally mortified by my Racetech Results - I just hope that a fair amount of people never clocked past the finish - otherwise i need to go back to the drawing board.
  9. Hell that was hot. Got to the 90 km water table in 3:36 and then took almost an hour just to get home - that was embarrassing. When I got home, the missus who followed me on Endomondo, wanted to know if I was pushing the last 18km
  10. There were small fractures yes, when he put the finger back, the hand doc said the ligament tore some bone away but there is no obstruction to movement luckily. Am also doing Phisio but no one is telling me you how long it will take
  11. Finally I am managing to pull the break lever again with my index finger - still cant bend it near to fully but I am happy to be able to pull breaks down steep hills on the MTB as you need all your fingers to maintain grip and breaks How long can a dislocation take to restore full travel of the knuckle - happened 24 November and still far away even though I do practice flexing lots! frustrating.
  12. My latest addition to the family since having to put down the 17 year old russle. Another 380 Volt live wire it seems from her personality thus far http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG-20140204-00005_zpsde92a91c.jpg
  13. R75K hip repair - Titanium cost about R24K MTB - no damage Gumtree - sale of Cleat pedals and shoes -R500
  14. I hope I can get time off work to drive up there again this year. Bike will be cowering in the corner if he hears that he is going up to that mud fest again.
  15. The hanger via USA would have been $22 + 10$ shipping. Thank goodness Bridge cycles opened today and I got two there - case closed, back on the bike.
  16. Where would I find these suppliers making just hangers if you could help - thanks
  17. Seems my hanger is like hens teeth. Been to 3 shops including CWC and no joy. At the least one bike shop offered to speak to the Merida Rep on Monday and made a tracing of my sample to try and help me out. No riding till next week though - what a bummer.
  18. That Duke is so nice compared to my previose coiler. Specilly with a busted finger, made the pain riding far less than it could have been. Thanks Andrew
  19. Merida Matts 2010 HardTail - R150 seems pretty steep.
  20. Yee of little faith No fall this time, just a big branch went through the derailer and all the bike shops in Newcastle were closed when it broke - back in Cape Town so should have more chance now of finding one.
  21. My daughter spent her holiday on one of those 4 wheel drive versions with a tail around the trails of hilldrop too. I really miss the weather up that side of the country and the green rolling hills.
  22. Can one buy the aluminium bracket between frame and derailer as a loose item? It's on my old 9 speed Sram X9 deriler? Bike shops closed so just wondering where I could get just this part. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG-20140101-00199_zps97c7f46e.jpg
  23. Vulintaba Trails outside Newcastle (KZN)- thanks to the local lads for showing this Slow Capie around the mountains. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/IMG-20131221-00157_zps9719eb29.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee420/Landy1973/MTB_zps668cbd0c.jpg
  24. Not so good - pressure in the can was too low in my opinion so the finish was not as good as the primer I used underneath. Not a train smash as it was an old cheap bike and the old man is at least ahppy the bike is working and looks a little newer.
  25. Vulintaba MTB trails in Newcastle - love this area pics to follow
