  1. Yes, if you insure your bike with Cyclesure. From the policy wording doc: What we cover We will cover your financial loss because of an insured event up to the limit set out in your policy schedule when something happens to you or a close relative that is beyond your control, that you were unaware of at the time you booked, and which resulted in the curtailment or cancellation of your trip. Financial loss includes: − your cycling race entry fees − published penalties − redeemable travel vouchers − unused non-refundable prepaid expenses for travel and accommodation Financial loss excludes: − airport taxes or air passenger duties − administration fees − commissions − booking fees − all costs when a substitution has been arranged − incidental costs (including but not limited to telephone calls, meals, taxi fares, interpreter fees, time-share fees, holiday points) − inconvenience − emotional distress − loss of earnings 3. Insured events The following events that could result in the curtailment or cancellation of your trip are covered under this policy: a. Your or your close relative’s unforeseen illness, bodily injury or death. b. Your compulsory medical quarantine on the instruction of a registered medical practitioner or in terms of any legal requirement . c. Your retrenchment when you legally qualify for a retrenchment package. d. The accidental loss or damage to your home through burglary, flooding or fire during your trip or up to 48 hours before you leave when the: • loss or damage is in excess of R10 000; and • your presence is needed by the police in connection with the loss or damage. e. A terrorist incident in the city listed on your prepaid trip itinerary: • within 14 days prior to your scheduled departure date; and • so long as the city has not experienced a terrorist incident within 90 days prior to the terrorist
  2. 100% A strategic response is what is needed. Everyone gets all happy about presence/visibility of the rangers but it's not solving the problem at all, a bit like putting a band-aid on a broken leg. I'm losing all hope rapidly😔
  3. Yes, if you have a Garmin Edge you can change any of the settings from there on the fly.
  4. For some reason they are not reporting the mugging of one of the athletes on Friday on Signal Hill during the race. The stolen Apple watch was tracked to Cash Crusaders and the owner got it back... I guess SAPS will argue that the crime was undone. Not sure how you get the authorities to actually give a f@%k.
  5. Another mugging on Signal hill just behind the houses at the Bo-kaap end of Tamboerskloof. Happened at 10:55am Sunday 26/11. Phones and watches taken.🤬
  6. Don't expect much from Rangers who are on a wage of R208 a day...
  7. Below are a few route ideas for you of varying distance/duration all starting in town. Regarding safety of riding on your own... reluctant to give concrete advice as you just never know, but this weekend is UTCT so there will be a lot of activity (runners & spectators) on the mountain so hopefully that makes it a little safer if you do go out on your own 🤷‍♂️ https://www.strava.com/activities/9046706987 https://www.strava.com/activities/8579489735 https://www.strava.com/activities/8502174668 https://www.strava.com/activities/7746626491 https://www.strava.com/activities/7641693195 https://www.strava.com/activities/6774731534 https://www.strava.com/activities/7280932308 https://www.strava.com/activities/5679805348 I would say that you want to avoid the areas inside these red circles if you are alone...
  8. Garmin Varia RTL515, worth every cent👌
  9. Can supply an adaptor for the 3/8" to 1/4" or upsize to 1/2". Pretty much all options can be covered
  10. I can supply you with a 5-25Nm Teng tools wrench. Lifetime guarantee, quality tools. DM me for a quote 🙂 https://teng-tools.co.za/collections/torque-tools/products/3892ag-e1
  11. If you opt for the Endurance option, there is an additional points earning band for 60-70% of max HR workouts. This solves the problem of long sessions at low HR. As far as I know the regular option only earns points for sessions above 70% max HR.
  12. 2017 it was R1000 for a team (free camping) and there was prize money. That was too cheap! Still one of the best races of the year, proper trails and lekker vibes. Bleak to be missing this year.
  13. Agreed. I think that was the case with a lot of the used items and why I was extra cautious. Some of the frames may have been cracked & repaired because the paint job certainly wasn't up to OEM standard. I was eyeing an Elite Suito, but hard to know if they work or were sent back because they were faulty. They ended up going for more than I have seen ones advertised on the hub classifieds... I guess some people have a bigger risk appetite than me!
  14. They split the initial lot of 13 frames into a few lots. Are those frames worth anything without a rear triangle? The lot #43 of the two frames with rear shocks (only one had rear triangle) went for R29 624 all-in.
  15. I think some people forget about that in the heat of the moment when bidding. You have to add 28.8% to whatever your bid is. So the hammer price looks decent, but your all-in price is almost 30% more!
  16. Anyone pick up a bargain for themselves? Hammer prices don't look like a steal to me🤷‍♂️
  17. "Never been raced" is often see in adverts for offroad motorcycles and to me it means nothing. A bike being raced means it has been ridden hard (like they are designed to be ridden), but most racers probably maintain their bikes better than the average weekend warrior. There are obviously exceptions on both sides, but I've raced my bikes and would buy from me long before A LOT of "never been raced" bikes in general. My 2c
  18. Those grips🤕
  19. Is this the new non-cycling market place thread..... Anyone wanna buy a dirtbike? 🤪 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/824528239349674/
  20. You could add the Wattbike as a sensor (like you would add a HR strap, Cadence sensor, Varia etc) and then it will display and record the power, speed etc on your Garmin and sync to Garmin Connect. Then you don't have to bother with the Wattbike app?
  21. Nice route but Chappies feels like too much tar, so perhaps they loop up around Silvermine/Noordhoek Peak, Tokai, back up to Bridle path then through the wine farms to Constantia nek, towards Hout Bay, through Victorskloof and onto the missing link. Think it'll have to include some private property/sections not normally open for riding. Higgo forest could also be a nice little singletrack spectator section if you include that too.
  22. The press release says the route will be on Table Mountain though...
  23. How does this help you if you fail a test? Surely an athlete could intentionally contaminate their kept sample and then cry contaminated supplement when it gets tested? I assume the supplement producers don't keep a sample from each batch to verify it with the sample an athlete has kept. Does a ban get reduced/overturned if proven to be supplement contamination?
  24. I'll prepare a fake POP, not send an Uber and see where this goes.
