Groupset looks like '05 Ultegra (9-speed), nothing wrong with it at all. Looks to be a good bike, get it checked out by a bike shop first, and make sure it's the right size for you. Price may be a tad high?

Whatever happens, it will keep things interesting. Who will Contador sign up with is the question I ask.

Looking at riding somewhere new and thought about Majik Forest this thursday after work. A friend and I are keen but don't know the trails (or even where to park our cars for that matter). Any local riders able to join us and show us around? I am in Somerset West, and will gladly return the favour in my backyard anytime.

Good event, can't decide which route I prefer. Would do either of them again. Pity about all the littering by riders as usual. On that note: VA 400 please bring your mother along next year to pick up your rubbish.

I agree, it will be a great way to learn about technical stuff right from the start. The experience will help you with maintenance and repairs in the future.

Gaffer tape. Works like duct tape but doesn't leave residue. Can buy it at CD Fox in Cape Town, I think they are in Hout St. It's fairly expensive, but works well (probably about R80-100/roll by now).

Yes' date=' the hot stove... I'm not sure if that has ever worked for anyone. But I sheepishly admit I have tried this. Should have know better, metal heated will deform/discolour badly. But the rotor was stuffed, so it was worth the laughter and ridicule from my wife. Check the pic, all that weight and the rotor still warped up, even after letting it cool under this pressure. Right people, time to stop worrying about how far and who is too slow! The idea is to have an enjoyable ride, so let's just go ride. The faster people will wait for the slower riders for sure so don't worry about that. I reckon the ride will only be about 20km, give or take a few km. If I ride from home in Heldervue down to waterstone, then back up to the top of the Helderberg tracks and home from there it's 21km, one and a half hours. I can only ride for about 2 hours max on sunday, so if anybody wants to bail early they can ride down with me (if the rest are playing for longer). With regard to rain, my vote is that unless it's p1ssing down we still go.

Bought a new crankset from Matchstix, and indeed it was new! When he saw that I had paid he went straight to the post office and sent it. Will not hesitate to do business with him again.

I think we just got the book thrown at us! I reckon it will be near impossible to get everyone to agree. As far as I am concerned, sellers must simply be honest about amount of use (if any) and condition with regard to scratches, etc. Pics are obviously important to show this. If people are dishonest, they must be named so that others don't get misled in future. We have threads naming good and bad sellers, this seems to work.

Still open to interpretation in my opinion. "Used only once" could be around the block or for one 100km ride through mud, and once used it's no longer new. If it's advertised as new then it should be unused.

I agree with JB, stick to what you have.

KevinV is in for sure. I can show you guys my way onto the Helderberg through the college. That way we are on dirt quicker and avoid the concrete jeep track. Short, sharp climbs with flatter bits in between.
