  1. Interesting thanks. That's exactly why I prefer aluminum for MTB frames and components, also the bike I'm looking at is the 2011 model which apparently (according to shop assistant...) has a few minor changes over the 09/10 frame or bike or material used, cant remember exactly what he was saying as I was preoccupied looking at and touching (stroking) the bike...lol
  2. I'd obviously be quite interested to read them, mind posting a link?
  3. Sorry it is a 29er and the price is around 31K with a service plan. A little more than the Giant Anthem 29 but I like Trek/GFisher brand and technology more...
  4. I'm in the process of buying a Trek Gary Fisher Hi Fi Pro and went into Cyclelab Fourways today to weight it, FWIW stock standard without pedals a 17.5 (Medium) weighed 12.51 kg. This is with standard tyres and tubes. Groupset spec level is XT 3x10 and some Sram X9. Once my finances have recovered I intend upgrading to the lighter wheelset that comes standard on the Superfly and run them with Race King 2.0 UST and keep the stock ones as my spares. Does anyone have this bike (or similar) and what are your impressions/comments?
  5. Very sad to hear this, hang in there mate!
  6. So who won the raffle prizes?
  7. Anyone else got any comments?
  8. Ok, the reason I asked is because I recently bought a second wheelset, Shimano XT with Conti 2.0 Race kings filled with Stans, went out on my second ride and a piece of glass flatted the tyre. Bombed it but the hole was too big. Walked home When I rode my original wheelset (much heavier), LX with Crossmarks and tubes, when I got a puncture I just replaced the tube and off I went. What's the point of riding tubeless if you need to still carry spare tubes or was my glass incident a freak occurrence...?
  9. So how did you get home?
  10. Big J did you notice whether it was easier or that you went faster with the lighter wheels?
  11. Hi there CWC guys How much does each one weight as they stand there with pedals, water bottle holders and the 2 different wheelsets?
  12. Much appreciated!
  13. Garage's usually have very good CCTV systems with multiple cameras. Maybe you should have a look, actually now that I think of it there's probably not much you'll be able to do about it. Sorry to hear about this anyway.
  14. As far as I'm concerned you're doing the right thing by posting this sighting on the hub, if it was stolen then the owner has someone to contact, namely you, for more information. Thanks for taking the time.
  15. Have you tried using a Powerbalance band?
  16. Petshaman I ride from Weltevredenpark to the Cradle and will keep a look out for you. Saved your number. Nothing would make me happier than corning this peice of s... scum.
  17. Ha Ha Ha Please DON'T post any pics of a Dirty Sanchez...EVER!
  18. Okay I give up... What's a Dirty Sanchez...?
  19. That's just horrible, please don't post any more pictures!
  20. I was doing a similar comparison over the weekend. Cheap R3K Shimano XT 1650g vs mid price R5K AC 1480g vs premium priced R8K Mavic Slr's 1420g. Very intresting about the V brake SLR weight being quoted. Tarmac forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by "I have stock", do you sell American Classics?
  21. Fair point and I've just finished Superfreakonomics and Eat Smart for Sport (both quite good by the way) but on a flight with constant distractions I enjoy reading something a little "lighter" if you know what I mean. By the way has anyone else noticed how many "weight challenged" i.e. FAT people there are on flights nowadays...and don't think the food trolley sneak past them without them topping up on a 1000 Kcals of chips, jelly tots, kit kats and of course the diet Coke...unbelieveable!
  22. I've been buying Bicycling and Ride for 5 odd years now, lately Tread and Go Multi, and now that the price has come down SA Triathlon and must say that Bicycling stylistically looks the best but really has become a weak imitation of what it used to be. Problem is I love cycling and fly a few times a month and need some stimulation on those otherwise mind numbingly boring 2 hour flights...lately once I've bought all of the above mags I end up buying Car, Popular Mechanics, Bike SA, You, People etc....I was desperate when I bought the last 2 okay! LOL
