  1. That was at the Bluff, KZN.
  2. I've just started paragliding (6 months odd). Nothing near as hardcore as what the Warthog has posted, but I still find it pretty novel to be able to 'fly' with just some material strung up above your head!
  3. Great job Ewald. You know I love your work And thanks for including me and our neck of the woods in your project. Voted, but you know I'm bias
  4. I really enjoyed the 40 km route this year with the added climbing and brilliant descents The route had to be altered from previous years as there is fairly extensive felling that has been happening in the Howick & Karkloof areas recently, which have obviously impacted the available trail network. That said I think Hylt Turvey did a great job with the trails. Also, for all those considering giving an Enduro style event a go, the 3 main downhills that were on both the 40 km & 60 km routes (the new route off Lebanon, Rene's Rumble & Jewitts Jive) made up the timed stages of the enduro so definitely consider entering next year. The only slight downer for me was the very rushed enduro prize giving. I think a couple people (including myself) never even knew it was taking place. Some warning would be ideal
  5. I've also heard of guys wrapping the cable with adhesive backed weather foam and then adding a zip tie to either end to prevent it unraveling. http://mypurplemartinblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/foam-tape-300x300.jpg
  6. My frame also suffers from this. I got some foam tubing from GMC that I slid over the cable before threading it and it seems to help a lot.
  7. It does not look like a terrible place to go pedal a bicycle. Need to get there at some point. Great pics yet again Oom Ewald.
  8. RIP Barry, so sad to have read the news. We all lost a good guy
  9. Great work done by the Howick Mountain Bike Club, it really was a great event.
  10. DIBS! Apparently that works for lining up a sale in the classifieds!
  11. You can setup notifications in the classifieds section so that you are notified immediately after a particular item is listed. So if you're looking for brakes, a hardtail etc. then check the relevant boxes and you'll be notified every time a new item within that category is listed. If you expect the 'community' to wait for you to get home from work to consider a bargain then you're going to miss out every time sadly.
  12. That Mondraker Summum seems to win everything these days.
  13. 2017 KTM 300 exc - Six Days - R110,000.00 Bicycle pricing makes no sense! http://www.rocketcentre.co.uk/image/cache/data/Off-Road/KTM/2017/Enduro/KTM_300_EXC_6days-800x800.jpg
  14. Awesome write up Ewald and thanks BikeHub for the local DH content.
  15. From the current felling plan, Sid Vicious will only have a small portion of the trail affected by the current felling operations. That said, the felling plans are beyond the clubs control and can and do change at short notice. For now all the trails in the area (Bruisers Burn, Firehawk, Carnival, etc.) are currently closed due to the extensive felling that is currently on going in the area. We don't have a fixed date as to when the area will be opened again, but the trails will need a some work prior to them being opened. I sadly don't think it will be this year. I'm sure the club will communicate via the various social media platforms as soon as the trails in the affected area(s) are reopened.
  16. Looks like a great event on some pretty serious terrain! Hopefully next year...
  17. Thanks for this! Trigger pulled on a UK9. I've had a set of the black and white ones for the past year and really enjoyed them. Plus they hold up a lot better than the 5.10's (no peeling soles!) and they're cheaper. Originally got them from www.mikka.co.za but they no longer stock them.
  18. Adidas own 5.10
  19. Just getting into the all grain side of home brewing and really enjoying it. I currently have a Brewdog "Blackdog" clone in the keg and my better half has brewed up a BIG beer +-10% ABV, called the "Dog Fight" also from the Brewdog DIY series. Black Dog Got a couple brews under the belt now and for the most part they have all been great (except for my Leffe Blonde clone, which is a bit of a let down). Plans are afoot to upsize the brewery and go electric. First plan is to try build up a control panel similar to the one set out here EDIT to add: Currently using the Brew In A Bag (BIAB) method, which only requires a single vessel and simplifies the process a bit, without affecting the end result too much. Been cool learning though and definitely a good (and relatively cheap) way of getting into home brewing
  20. That Timmy fellow sure can pedal a bicycle!
  21. Very cool!
  22. Maybe it is the photographer who is just taking the piss?
