From some Googlizing here is the locality of the proposed prospecting. The locality of the proposed area being so close to a water course and the greater impact it may have on downstream users may make this tough to get approved. That said stranger things have happened. As stated above there are still a lot of legal/environmental hoops these guys need to get through to get this off the ground, but make sure you register as an IAP and scrutinize their process.

I pretty much always walk new obstacles, but once you've ridden them a couple times and they become apart of your normal route, you kind of just expect them to be as they were after the last time you rode them (I do tend to check some out after major rains). The Jan Smuts one in particular is pretty dangerous though as the landing is blind so if you haven't checked it our you'll only know once you're airborne, like Rata did.

Pump has a flexible pipe so your valve should survive. Definitely happening. Pressure??? Not me, as it's not my wheel that's going to be flat if this doesn't work I think the real winner here will be beer
French people (for some reason) require one to be wearing a speedo when swimming in a swimming pool . So you'll have to pack one and trim your 'side burns' if you wish to take advantage of them.

This issue has been trashed out on the Hub before so just do a search for more opinions. Then make a decision based on what you think will be best for you.
They are fairly similar platforms and are quite stiff. I have the AM45's and they have been very good to me when clipping in. I personally would want to run them as a pure flat peddle shoe as I would find them to be too stiff (that said, I haven't tried them on pure flats). Probably 90-95% of the DH bunch who clip in (that is most of the riders) wear one of these two models, so these shoes have been thrashed and take the punishment very well.
