  1. Myself & KathF are there from 6 Aug to 22 Aug Peach n Patch get in week or so earlier. Then DaveMD, Craig & Esmeralda somewhere during that period too. Carn't hardly wait.
  2. Crazy just how much work is involved.
  3. I think it is Tiaan Odendaal but I stand to be corrected on this.
  4. Afaik each countries national champ gets that honour. Greg is not the current SA champ. Thus no ZA flag on his sleeve.
  5. To be less cryptic and so that everyone has an idea. Greg Minnaar Andrew Neethling Tim Bentley Sam Bull Tiaan Odendaal Johan Potgieter Stefan Garlicki Hayley-Anne Adamson
  6. Word on the street is that he was on fire! So he had to stop, drop n roll.
  7. Real purdy! ????
  8. And then the old 300 on a trip up to Namibia Just got rid of this bike.
  9. Damn, I need to take some new pics of the Husky after the tail end & headlight got cleaned up with some neat LEDs. But here she is in her original road get up: Here she is in her old racing outfit: but those days are long gone.
  10. Totally. Now I have to try and find the local ramps... (or build my own I guess)
  11. SA Champs is happening from 18 - 20 July at Thaba Trails. The info is on the CSA website. There are guys who regularly ride Helderkruin. Most of the rides are put up on the FB page mentioned in my post above.
  12. Unfortunately Chris there are no formal races in JHB. If you want to race the closest is the KZN series which has finished for the season (unless there will be another series later in the year?) The only even that'll take place is SA Champs which will be at Thaba trails in the next couple of weeks. Best bet would be to get onto the 'Mountain bikers do it downhill" FaceBook page as that is where the majority of the banter happens.
  13. Not ideal Slick. Sorry to hear about the tough break. You and Aubs have both now left bits of bone on or near jump landings. All the best for the recovery. I really hope all goes well and you're back on the bike ASAP
  14. I think I was #51, but at least I'm not Peach
  15. Good work Hicks & DaveMD. Not sure what bike I'll be on but I should be there.
  16. If the buggers are going to bring test bikes through tell them to pack an extra Wicked Comp in for me. The buggers will only ship to private residences Very grumpy about this, but I wouldn't mind testing the Capra and Tues too. Threaten your connection for me please.
  17. I think the largest RF NW ring you can get is 38t. Also the NW is designed to be run in a 1x9, 1x10 or 1x11 configuration. It sounds like you want to keep the 2x10 setup which eliminates all the narrow/wide options AFAIK.
  18. Had issues with a Race Face NW with a Zee derailure this past weekend on the Ndiza. Ended up putting the chain guide back on. My Zee RD definitely has less friction than the SRAM type 2 and I think this was the issue in my case. I know you can up the friction on the Zee's but I just never had time to figure it out. That said I think I may just revert back to a full guide or at least a top guide for complete peace of mind in future.
  19. Deleted the double post.
  20. Here is a little something KathF put together with the GoPro she won...
  21. When can we expect the 1st edit Rata?
  22. As Patches says this jump is actually on the short side of things. Don't go in too hot or you'll over jump it. If you clear the two jumps before this one, you'll only need 1 or 2 pedal strokes to clear the gap. Take the line on the right as you make the 2nd jump as it lines you up nice and straight for the gap jump. The lip is mellow and predictable. Regarding the Bomb hole. Rode it on Wednesday and it definitely has been trimmed back, so the lip is not prone to bucking you forwards. That said, since the lip is flatter expect to travel a touch further (but lower) in the air. Also, before attempting anything technical or new to you (like a jump, or a drop, or a rock garden, of just a really steep hill), just have a look at what you're planning to ride and try to make sense of it before committing yourself to it. This goes for any trail, anywhere.
