  1. If the dust seal is still good and you're just doing an air can service, you can use over the counter Quad rings (1 of 3.53 x 26,58 & 1 of 3.53 x 31,34) that you can get from bearing man. If the dust seal is poked you'll need to get the original Fox kit (same as the one you linked) and yes that one should work on a Fox Float R shock
  2. All the cambers appear to be off!
  3. Andorra World Cup Preview. http://www.pinkbike.com/v/321855/l/
  4. Awesome! http://www.pinkbike.com/v/321369/l/
  5. Shot for correcting that Grebel. Yeah Dave Hogan was ripping it. Was just off the pace, but not too shabby considering he only had 3 practice runs, so not much time to dial in the new portions of the track. Back from Nigeria-land Patches?
  6. This is how I remember it so it could be wrong in places... Elites as above. Juniors: 1. Andrew Marting (ginger Snap) 2. JP du Plessis 3. Special Greg Ladies: 1. Nadia Botha 2. Kate Stephenson (crashed in 2nd run) Sub-vets: 1. Mark Millar 2. Aubrey Thomas 3. Dave Drummond Vets: 1. Pete Hoyer DSQ Leon (had some run in with a grumpy race offical, so never raced)
  7. Chatel gnar!!! I think he really wanted to tell his mother after hitting up that line http://vimeo.com/69374632
  8. I'm not sure of the exact location (I'll ask Kath Fourie to contact her), but I expect it happened at the entrance or just as she entered the gully. Things can get quite exciting there sometimes. [EDIT] I was way wrong! Happened on the chicken line through Dr Evil apparently.
  9. Yeah, shuttles sucked to start with. Thanks to all those who offered up there personal vehicles and actually made the event happen TBH. I was on the 1st shuttle up and then waited over 45mins for the next shuttle. Fortunately it all worked out. Track was a bit damp and windy to start with. A lot of guys nearly came short on the step down after the gully. Track dried out fast and was primed for the slightly delayed race runs. I binned it in my 1st race run where the new 4X section reenters the old track. Front disappeared and I slid head first down the track. Then wiped out trying to get back up the hill to my bike. 2nd run I took it a lot easier on the top section, smashed out the new Jugs Big One and kept it fairly tidy to the finish. Cool day out for sure. The update I have of Kate is that she only broke her collar bone. No spinal injuries. [EDIT to add] Currently they do not intend to operate and will give the collarbone a week or so to sort itself out. If it doesn't slot back into place then she'll get chopped n plated.

  11. Definitely! It's gonna be real fun. Running from Haibo down, with all the new bits on route.
  12. Looking forward to the new bits of the track and getting a feel for (staying off) my new brakes
  13. Not cool Hicks. You need to sort your **** out!
  14. I'm there! You riding Nige?
  15. Looks good. Those pics don't do that jump justice... Quite a big step down that is! Did Syd manage to do the step-down?
  16. People starts at the next lift down. I could be mistaken though.
  17. Looks good! What's the damage?
  18. Panorama (green trail) plenty of berms & table tops! The town of Chatel is in the valley below and so is the Chatel bike park, with plenty more trails. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9512554/p4pb9512554.jpg
  19. 1) yes (if you're riding a dual sus there is chain growth during the compression stroke so depending on your chains length it could add stress to your drive train). This is irrelevant if you're on a hardtail. 2) best to be a minimum of 2 or 3 gears down just to make sure the above scenario doesn't play out. This is irrelevant if you're on a hardtail. 3) Most of your hard braking comes through the front brake. Try to only use the front brake in straight lines & as Robrider says get your braking done before the corner & try to lay off the brakes in the corner. Also, try not to drag your brakes while going downhill. This really heats the system up and in a worst case you'll suffer brake fade when you probably want your brakes most. 4) have a look at your pads a see if they're worn. Sintered pads sometimes sound harsh while braking. Doing simple checks and learning to do at least minor maintenance will help you at some stage out on the trail.
  20. The points log to date...
  21. Mankele hosted the DHI #4 national this past weekend. The track was steep, rough and mostly natural and took it's toll on riders and equipment alike. I don't think anyone managed a clean weekend with no falls, scrapes, cuts, breaks and or damage to gear. That said it was awesome and the racing was brilliant. Hopefully there is someone out there who has a couple of pics, but the results can be found below.
