Where are all the fanboys? Or is the deifying on various social media platforms enough. I'm just glad I got to see him ride at the top of his game. (Brno and Phillip Island). One footed stand up wheelies going up the hill at Brno was quite a sight. Looking forward to the weekend, BT Sport will have endless clips and VT covering the great man. <there may be a touch of sarcasm in that sentence> I like him 'cos he's a fan of my absolute hero Barry Sheene. And he once dressed as a chicken.
  3. Dostoyevsky précised the above rather neatly: (He didn't, it's a fake quote). "Tolerance will reach such a level that intelligent people will be banned from thinking so as not to offend the imbeciles."
  4. Interesting treatise. I disagree with quite a bit as there's a lot of inferred detail and opinion in the sarcasm points, but they have certainly have merit if the point is "Just try to be nicer". As an adjunct, litotes is often mistaken for sarcasm, as is its (litotes) opposite hyperbole, especially in the written form. It's so pleasing to see there's no Alanis Morrisette completely misunderstanding the meaning of irony quotes in your points. <not sarcasm by the way.
  5. Glad you're pretty much ok. Try not to let this manifest as anger, as it may come to a head one day. Oh, and very pleased your bike is undamaged.
  6. Gary Larson tribute band.
  7. The wonderful Debbie Harry's birthday was yesterday (1st July). Here's Blondie on the Dutch TV show TopPops. Seeing Blondie for the first time on the telly in 1976 after getting a copy of Blondie, their first album, made me feel "interesting". I was 12... My older sister gave it to me and relentlessly ripped me apart for being awestruck at the incredible vision on the record cover and eventually on the small screen.
  8. Lord Max Blueberries of Fred Perry.
  9. Going through some of the Glastonbury stuff on BBC iPlayer at the weekend. I'd forgotten about how much I like LCD Soundsystem. Although this is from T in the Park. The Glastonbury performance is better.

Bastianini on a Gresini Ducati. Rhythmic Italian content off the scale there...
  11. A tiny, tiny man, so dense that you must have your own gravitational field: about 20kg/cm3. I'm presuming you are perfectly cylindrical. Sorry, open goal there...

Didier Deschamps has organised an exceptional bunch of individual talents into a very pragmatic system. Summed up by his caught on camera instruction "Boys, lets attack but not too much". Made me laugh. Very enjoyable game. The Portugal Hungary game. Well, that score flattered Portugal so much. I think the Hungarians had given up after the penalty which should never have been given.

Yeah, the Chileans just shut up shop; the Argentines need to learn to do the same. Messi looked absolutely knackered at the end. It's true, the pragmatic Swedes doing what they do best. However I really wanted Spain to win (full disclosure: my Mum is Spanish Basque) but 200 passes in 10 minutes is often a hard watch. Best nominative determinism for a while is Aymeric Laporte or Aymeric The Door in English. He is a defender after all...

Yup, I had to be in the office at 0600 SA time (0500 my time) this morning after watching too many hours of football and wondering why Messi isn't Messi for Argentina. And wondering why Spain couldn't score and wondering what the France Germany game would be like. And more and more. I am so damaged. Luckily I don't have to drive anywhere. Good luck with catching up on the Zeds, you're lucky it's a public holiday tomorrow (16th).

Nice one. I know what you mean. The Euros and Copa America are in dangerously convenient time zones as far as sleep is concerned.

It's all on the BBC iPlayer. There are various ways to watch if you are not in the UK.

Saturday at 1600 (SA time). The Bees vs The Swans. Doesn't seem a fair fight really. Or does it? The excellent chant from Brentford fans (to the tune of Knees up Mother Brown). "Bees up Fulham down". Only works if they win though.
