  1. Many years ago. On a trip to the states, I bought all new MX kit. I then made sure I used it once or twice (I went snowmobiling), so it looked like I took the gear with me. No problems at customs then. Not sure if you could apply the same
  2. move on

    Giant SA

Wow, OK. You would think Giant would do some sort of FEA testing that would point out a weak point like that.

what do you guys do to break a frame? I weight in at 103, and take my scott totally off the ground on some of the jumps at the big red barn...and all still seems to be ok. Maybe the full sus helps. So what are you putting your bike through?....or is that hush hush in case your warranty is rejected
  5. I used to, 15km there and 15km back (high school)......as I was tired of all the barnies on the bus between the different schools. But best of all I had the freedom to go and do whatever I wanted after school (biking brought me much independance) I would love my kids to cycle to school, but I would probably be the first one to not let them (would worry too much)
  6. and I just changed from Shimano to Crank bros (egg beaters).........couldnt get my damn left foot outquick enough and had an embarrasing bail on Friday. Will just have to get used to them. To your post - I did not experience that with my Shimano's and not sure if adjustment will stop that, but worth a try.
  7. I weight in at 104 (pure lean muscle, not really!) and ride a full sus Scott spark 29er. Nothing broken yet, but think the full suspension helps a bit.

    Who remembers?

My dream car, when I was a kid was to have a Ford XR6, with solid tyres (so that when the cops shoot at the wheels they wont go flat) and a CB (with a very long ariel). Thank goodness I changed my mind on that one.

    Who remembers?

Thanks, but it looks like it has been removed from the app store.

Well then pleeeease create an iphone game app for donkey kong (as per the original), as there is not one (not sure why). I had the, like a game boy type donkey kong (flip open screen), fancy stuff back then. Fights in the car on the way to Durbs as to whose turn was next.

    Who remembers?

Double dragon at the local shop (spent a lot of time and money clearing that game) Not feeling stiff or sore after a days riding and BMX racing

    Who remembers?

Atari video game Building BMX tracks, only getting home after dark, riding with your BMX gang (my first BMX, that black scorpion one, then my brother later got the scorpion with the chrome forks [very jeolous]) 286, 386 computers Doc Martins...........................actually bought a pair the other day (prices have gone up!!)
  13. Trying to strike whilst the iron is hot
  14. Hi, thanks, but R6K, nope. She is not that keen as yet.
  15. Thanks, I tend to agree on 26er. Have not seen a bargain like that yet.
  16. Hi all, I am really chuffed that my 2 girls have enjoyed the new bike track in Benoni, that the eldest now needs an urgent upgrade (as her girly bike; the neck broke on Saturday). I have been looking around...... 1. On the hub.....not many bikes in the price range and suited for her (funny when you not looking there seem to be plenty!) 2. Cajees and a few other bike shops, looking at R3K +, eish 3. Makro - on special R799....goed koop is deur koop She is 12. I was thinking of either a 24inch, but thought perhaps a 26er with a small or X small frame would be better. Does anyone have any suggestions? or does anyone have a bike fitting this profile gathering dust in their garage that I could purchase for her (budget would be around R1500 and max R2000 for something half decent)? Thanks
  17. A bit too tricky to answer?
  18. Unfortunetly though LL it's the truth. Our wonderfull place where we live, robots that don't get repaired for weeks, no more lines on the roads, potholes, excavations not repaired, barriers gone in some places, yellow lane used as a normal traffic lane, too name a few (this is just my route to work)....I think most of us try to remain positive, but it aint easy.
  19. Just for clarity sake, around a stupid motorist (besides the obvious), is a stupid motorist, one that hoots and gets highly annoyed when confronted with a group of cyclists cycling down the road 2 or 3 abreast (single lane) blocking traffic....."forcing" certain motorists to cross a solid line (2 wheels) to overtake. Whose stupid, the motorist or the cyclists?
  20. Started out on one of these
  21. A lot more posts since I hopped off yesterday............Icycling I was being sarcastic (just by the by), I have been riding a bike since I could walk (not hauling out the slong), tricycle, chopper, BMX (to give away my age, I had the first black scorpion that came out), then moved on to road cycling (15km to school and 15km back every day for my entire high school career.....broken collar bone, fractured ribs, etc......................blah blah blah blah and I still cycle, MTB (on the road and trails) Truth be told, we are all guilty at some point of being an A hole on a bike, in a car, etc........don't tell me everyone on this site is holier than though (never skipped a stop street or a red robot, went over the speed limit....you did'nt, well good on you!!), so back to the original question I still stick by my answer that I as a cyclist can be my own worst enemy.
  22. Great thanks and maybe I should even try cycling, to, you know experience it first hand.
  23. Icycling, the point is that not everyone is the same, you have yourself made this very clear in your write up....you are a lot more patient and considerate than the person you describe in your last few sentances (the damn stupid person) and those damn stupid people "will" put you at risk if you wander into the middle of the road or do not stick to the edge of the road. This is a non debate for me as we will keep ending up at the same points made up top, it is a fact we see it when we are out cycling (I am not debating what is right or wrong) eg, I did not say it is illegal to ride in the middle of the road, I merely pointed out that if this was done a person would annoy a lot of motorists.
  24. hehe a bit extreme . I am not your enemy Smimby, just trying to point out the obvious (use it, lose it, it's your choice, I never try and force anyone to "do it my way", thats the great part about having the freedom to choose, so do what you think is right). Keep safe and have a great week.
  25. cant see how you can disagree 100%!?! (but hey it's your personal choice in the matter), as I can almost gurantee (maybe even state it will be a fact, statistically!) that motorists will get annoyed, which then inevitably puts people at risk - which is what I was stating
