  1. This is no different to being on a fluid trainer and having a power meter.... and much cheaper!!

  3. Yes, double days else sacrifice one ride day to be a the interval/hill day, preferably earlier in the week when fatigue is not a factor
  4. Train for your 94.7 sub 3. Run at least 4-5 times a week, varying distance and pace. At least once a week do intervals and then also a tempo run. Swop out and interval run every other week for hill repeats. Build up your long runs on a Sunday (assuming you ride on a Saturday), so that you can run 25-28km comfortably at high Z2/lowZ3 pace. In your peak weeks you will be looking to do 55-60km/week. As for the Tough One 32km, don't go out fast, just below race pace, take it nice and slow up Malibongwe, make up time on the downhills without getting out of your comfort zone, save your legs for 20km onwards where you start climbing the hills through Douglasdale and back over main road. Don't walk, shuffle if you have to up the hills. If you not a runner, start running now and build up slowly. 2:52 (94.7) and 2:46 (RAC32)
  5. At 1.78 I would be inclined to say you are a 54 or medium, but best going to get a frame size fit done. Some bike shops will be able to do this and there are some fitment centres you can go to like cyclefit in JHB? You do not say where you are located. As for the 70.3 in June, as a triathlon coach, you only have 15 weeks until the race, so you need to be already training all 3 disciplines as well as clocking up long kms on a bike, whether a MTB or once you have a road bike
  6. Here is one https://www.cyclist.co.uk/news/9976/alexander-vinokourov-is-back-at-astana-for-2022
  7. I currently have the FR945 which I have had for a number of years. As a triathlete the Instinct was not a consideration as did not do open water swimming. Now the Instinct 2 does have open waster swimming and triathlon and more metrics than I currently monitor. It is a serious consideration should my FR945 need replacing.
  8. To a degree I agree and disagree. Whilst there is a small percentage who like the bling, they will hardly use the functionality. Many who have been using the F3 for many a year cannot afford the F7 and are looking to upgrade but not at those prices or hang onto their F3 in the hope it does not die. I was comparing the just released Instinct 2 with the FR745, which many consider upgrading to from the F3 because of price and is good enough for their needs and running and even doing a half Ironman. Now for a similar price to the FR745 you could do a full ironman and get a whole load of metrics with the just released Instinct 2. Your reasons for going for the F6x are specific to you, but your needs are as an extreme endurance athlete. DC has a good write up on the boat load of functions and metrics that have been added to the Instinct 2 and it does not cost the earth https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2022/02/garmin-instinct2-2s-2-solar-in-depth-review.html
  9. Personally if I was moving from the Fenix 3, I would look at the Instinct 2 with 30hr GPS battery and now also has triathlon function and 90% of what the Fenix 7 has. There is a solar version too. Price wise is similar to Forerunner 745 and even cheaper in some instances. https://www.garmin.com/en-ZA/p/775421/pn/010-02626-00#specs
  10. No idea if they are or not, just saw this on a FB feed
  11. Personally have bought and sold for many years am not a fan on BHP either. A situation I had is that I sold a set of wheels via BHP. The buyer received the wheels as I organised the courier so had tracking to prove it. The seller is meant to notify BHP of having received the wheels and is happy with them so that the money could be released to me as the seller. After 3 days still waiting, I had to contact admin to try to resolve. In which case admin had to contact the buyer because they were too lazy or enjoying my wheels. The system is not perfect and as Conrad says, you work to get a good rating and all of a sudden you are now sending things without receipt of money and the buyer has the goods and potential to make that deal go sour through no fault of your own and you are left holding nothing potentially. Not a risk I like to entertain.
  12. With reference to you quality claim, considering they sell millions of units. one could expect a small percentage to have issue. Nothing is perfect. On a personal note, had the following Edge 500, was a workhorse for more years than I can remember. Eventually had a software glitch, was replaced with an Edge 520 for a vastly reduced replacement cost. Edge 520 still going strong after many years. Forerunner 910XT, worked for many years, eventually barometer went was replaced with a Fenix 3 for a nominal replacement cost much cheaper than a new F3 Sold the F3 after a few years and got an Fenix 5 Sold the Fenix 5 after 2yrs and got the Forerunner 945 which I have had for over 2yrs without issue. My experience with garmin and their products has been great including the replacement policy. When I buy one of their products I know it has a 12 month warranty, same as my Samsung phone, which is also not cheap product. It is not an unknown consideration and am happy with the t&c's. Alas you bought the watch and by doing so agreed to the warranty conditions. So R4k for a replacement out of warranty is to me is still a good deal on a new replacement Fenix. The alternative is to use your R4k and try to pick up a cheap replacement from the classifieds.
  13. You might get lucky that they have stock in SW to go view https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/category/shop-by-sport/shop-by-campaigns?filters[categories][]=6343

  17. Yes is Club100, but not involved in the accident, we passed the accident just after it happened. Some stopped to see if they could assist until the authorities arrived.
  18. You have to ship the PM to SRM for a battery replacement and is not cheap. If you got a bit of mechanical/electrical skills there are tutorials online that you can follow to do it yourself at your own risk.
  19. Contact Omnico as they are the distributors for Tektro and TRP
