  1. The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon has officially been confirmed as an Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) candidate race - the first marathon in Africa to be nominated. The announcement marks the commencement of a multi-year evaluation process conducted by AbbottWMM. In order to become a Major, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will be required to meet certain criteria for three years and if successful, will join an elite group of races - Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, Virgin Money London Marathon, BMW-BERLIN Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon and TCS New York City Marathon - as a new member of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors in 2025. https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/content-hub/cape-town-marathon-becomes-abbott-world-marathon-majors-candidate-race
  2. Just wondering the cost for repair and not knowing if it will last....in comparison to getting a new crank?
  3. Train by power on the trainer during the week, just ride at the weekend building base, distance, endurance and time in the saddle. Sounds like you do not have enough base. Easy enough to train 1hr sessions, but if you do not have a base endurance for longer riding outside your time to exhaustion will be quick and is perhaps why you tire quickly.
  4. Kona 2021 postponed and moves to February 2022 https://tri-today.com/2021/08/world-championships-ironman-kona-will-not-take-place-this-year-moves-to-february-2022/?fbclid=IwAR1MitEqH2iJdijwa6wnnodnY8TjarTM-CkXd_uHC3qIyWDCdJ9SZew1FSY
  5. Am surprised as IM managed to run Durban 70.3 at the peak of the 3rd wave! Wonder if IMSA will get canned too....
  6. Backlight set on 40% and 15secs. Whilst I get the low battery warning on my Edge, have yet to have it die on me. After about 5-6hrs is down to around 10% remaining (been as low as 6%). It is always on the flash mode and the varia lasts no problem, The beeping and changing of colours (and constant bluetooth to the varia) on the Edge with the varia doing it's job seems to drain the Edge battery more than when I ride with the Club and just use a normal light for group rides as don't need the varia. So just live with it knowing and I guess is to be expected. probably my 520 battery is getting old as have had it many years!!
  7. Will also add my positives to using the Varia. Only downside is the battery as mentioned and it also seems to drain the battery of my Edge 520. 4hr+ rides I start to get low battery warnings,
  8. SRAM is launching ‘XPLR’ – a gravel groupset with a pretty comprehensive range and depth of components https://singletrackworld.com/gritcx/2021/08/10/sram-launches-xplr-its-wireless-suspension-gravel-groupset/
  9. CT marathon still going ahead, limited to 12,000 runners and mandatory free Covid testing prior to running. Peace races (5 & 10km) cancelled, trail races still happening. https://capetownmarathon.com/questions-and-answers/

  12. Technically, if you are importing a brand and then giving a warranty, it is no longer a grey bike as you are now the distributor?
  13. Isn't Le Col, clothing brand by Wiggins?

  17. If you consider not a wearable and something you can stick on the handlebars or on the Kayak, have a look at the Garmin Etrex
  18. Try phoning the Joburg International Mail Centre, expect to be on the phone a long time, even if you get through. Am sure once you give the tracking number they can tell you what you owe in duties. Ask for an email address so that you can send POP. Your item will then be released into SAPO and it will still take a while. They are unlikely going to contact you, so contact them. Else it will just sit in the warehouse along with millions of other parcels who shop on wish. Put this down to school fees and in future do your research and what you need to do to get your item when shopping overseas. If there is a courier option and even though more expensive, will be quicker and less headache in the long run.
  19. There is also another work around. Many of the sellers on Aliexpress are also on Ebay, you buy there and it is usually sent courier and not at ridiculous rates. Go figure!!
  20. As I said in my earlier post, many sellers will no longer use EMS/SAPO and give ridiculous courier costs or will not even ship to SA. A work around I use is ship to Aramex Hong Kong and then ships by Aramex Global Shopper to get delivered.
  21. I use aliiexpress, but get items shipped to Aramex Hong Kong offices. From there it comes by Aramex global shopper, you pay additional for the service but it by-passes SAPO. A lot of sellers on Aliexpress will no longer deliver to SA via the EMS/SAPO option as over the years many items get "lost" and disputes/refunds/send another happens. So you will see they only offer courier options at very expensive rates or they will not send to SA. Check the shipping option before you buy!! Aliexpress to Aramex HK to SA takes about 3-4 weeks.
  22. Had the same, Bought a Speedmax in 2019 and did not get charged duty. Had a friend who bought a Ultimate about 6 months later and they wanted to charge duty. I dug out my invoice and the gave him details of the code used (to see if different or would help), which he went back to Fedex (I think) and they got the code changed, so he also didn't pay duty. As you say, I think it comes down to the courier company and officer on duty at the time.
  23. Not quite yet, but perhaps is in the pipeline as is starting to happen and get a market feel in other parts of the world https://cyclingtips.com/2021/07/shimano-expands-consumer-direct-options-but-not-for-components/
