  1. Got R50's off the web price for a X.O 9sp Rear Derailleur. Was hoping for a bit more than that But the idea is still good
  2. He got it from Cajees Cycles in Centurion.
  3. Since you threw the 29er in there. Why not look at the Giant XTC 29er. A friend of mine has bought one and it is excellent value for money. He paid R14k with tubeless conversion. SLX 30sp with XT RD, Fox Fork with Lockout. A bargain if you ask me.
  4. Some 29er Tires. Mountain King 2.2 and a Race King 2.2. SRAM X.O RD 9sp.
  5. Just to pimp it up a bit more! RockShox Reba XX in Tang Orange It should look quite awesome
  6. Some more info http://twentynineinches.com Damn this is nice! http://twentynineinches.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/One_fine_8_c29er-500x383.jpg http://twentynineinches.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/One_fine_9_c29er-500x279.jpg
  7. There is an oomie (current SA over 65 champ) that swears by Rennies. He rides with Rennies in his back pocket, when he cramps he takes two and according to him the cramping subsides within 10 minutes.
  8. Can't really make out what brand of bike this is Looks awesome!
  9. Whoops, my bad.
  10. Giant recalls 2011 Anthem 29ers
  11. Start a poll. Not every member of the hub wants to post an update
  12. Just to add to the above, don't just take a 29er HT for a spin around the block once. You need to ride it at least a couple of times to have a true comparison. It does take some getting use to.
  13. 1.87m MTB 170mm Road 172.5mm
  14. From Twenty Nine Inches World Exclusive: On One Introduces New 29er Range; Report 1 Now the question for Kiwi, When and How Much?
  15. There is another post with more info 360 degree life
  16. The Aliante Gamma is an awesome saddle. It measures to 143mm in width and I am getting one to fit on my road bike as well, it's that comfortable. I had a Gobi for a month or so but it was just too narrow and created an awful amount of hurt after an hour or so. It is only 130mm wide.
  17. Read somewhere that SRAM will be introducing a 2x10 gripshift on the request of Julian Absolom. He prefers them to triggers. So they will probably debut in the 2011 XC World Cup Season and be available for mere mortals end 2011 or early 2012. But it's all just rumors currently.
  18. It is not normal so you need to either add a spacer or torque the crank arm a bit more. When I installed my rival crankset, I had to really torque it. I didn't need spacers but I did remove, re-grease and reinstalled a couple of times before there was no play on the crank.
  19. Would be good for her to go and ride one. They do handle a bit differently than the 26er and one has to get used to it. The advantages of the 29er will still remain as majority of the benefits are actually in the wheels. The Trek Team Riders, Willow Koerber and Heather Irminger, swear by their 29ers and they are tiny ladies. You might even consider an 29er HT for her since she is small and the larger tires at a lower pressure would give adequate "suspension".
  20. Sounds like the limit screw needs to be loosened a bit. Park Tool - REAR DERAILLEUR ADJUSTMENTS
  21. Then you should have no problem getting it replaced under warranty.
  22. Firstly, Shimano should honor the warranty doesn't matter where it was purchased from? I am sure the LBS does not cover the expenses of warranty replacements. As long as you have a proof of purchase it should be valid. The only question is how to handle it with Shimano. Going through your LBS is easier as they know the reps but it should not be a closed door altogether. I would be willing to pay the LBS for handling the claim. It's like a service fee. Secondly, if LBS wasn't so ridiculously expensive on certain things and the markup wasn't 80% then more people would purchase locally. It's the chicken and egg scenario, but why should the consumers spend more to pay less in future? Doesn't make sense. LBS should sell for less and sell more volume. My opinion.
  23. I was thinking that the action ratio is 1:1 for both 10sp and 9sp derailleurs and shifters, therefore it should work.
  24. My 9sp derailleur needs to be replaced sometime and I was wondering if I can buy a new SRAM X.0 10sp Derailleur and use it with my 9sp shifters and cassette? I am in the process of converting to 10sp but I was hoping to doing it in phases. My logic tells me that the derailleur will only move as far as what the shifters are able to pull the cable. And that with the limit screws I will be able to ensure that it doesn't shift to far. Is this logical?
