  1. If you can get your hands on a Maxxis Ignitor, you would be very happy. Haven't seen them locally anywhere but use to get them from CRC.
  2. Are you bring the frames in? Or complete bikes?
  3. Will give that a double check. When I adjust the limit screw so that the cage shifts further over, the chain actually shifts to far.
  4. Not sure, I have googled and that was the majority of responses to this issue on the forums. All I know is that I am struggling with shifting in the front. The FD is 100%, the large chainring is new. I just don't know anymore?
  5. To my knowledge the RD assist in the chain tension. If the spring in the RD is not stiff enough then the chain will be slack and will hamper shifting. The old 9sp X.0 RD's could be opened and the spring tension adjusted. The new ones don't work like that. I am running a standard XX blade 26t 39t combo.
  6. I have replaced the large chainring as it seems that the pickups were worn down. But even with a new large chainring and the checking of the position and alignment of the derailleur, the shifting in the front is still not great. Is there any truth to the fact that the tension in some 10sp Rear Derailleurs are not enough and that SRAM will replace the derailleur in that regard? Has anyone experienced trouble with shifting in the front?
  7. I have a XX Front Derailleur with an XX Crank. I used to run 2x9 and everything was fine but since I converted to 2x10 the front shifting is just horrible. I only shifts up sometime and won't shift under load. I have tweaked everything that I can think of tweaking. Limit screws, cable tension, new chain, chainline. Could it be one of the following? 1. The pickups on the chainrings are worn and should be replaced? 2. The tension spring in the X.0 RD is to slack, can I adjust this? Any advice/suggestions would be helpful. I am doing Sani2C next week and don't want to struggle with shifting.
  8. The groupset on the Merida is better than the Momsen. The Momsen has got nice wheels though. So it really depends on what you want to do. Just to add to your list of bikes to consider. You can get either one of these for R13.5k at Cajees. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-IN/bikes/model/xtc.29er/7554/46922/ http://www.scott-sports.com/gb_en/product/10040/55514/217951 The Giant in my Opinion is the best value for money bike currently.
  9. How is the sidewall on the Specialized Fast Trak LK 29er tires? I had the 26" version fitted and their sidewalls were paper thin. After the 3rd cut sidewall in so many weeks I replaced them with Crossmarks.
  10. 42/30 bliksem! I am running 39/26 with 11/36 at the back. That sorts out 99.9% of steep climbs
  11. The breaking with middle fingers are quite interesting. Haven't seen that before.
  12. I am watching it on freecaster. It's just pathetic in my opinion. Such a big showcase and yet, we get to see re-runs of SuperCycling and Paris Roubaix over and over again.
  13. Just want to say that it is p1ss poor that the XCO world cup is not televised. Cycling South Africa is working on the principle of a Gauteng Municipality, lots of inflow, very little outflow. Any case, just very disappointing.
  14. +1. Easy to sit and judge of the couch! Andrew McLean for CSA President.
  15. There is nothing that CSA or anybody would be able to do with knobs in their vehicles just ignore the closures. South Africans, especially in JHB, aren't patient on the roads and in general have a dislike towards cyclists! I wonder if they would have waited for clearing of the road if there was an accident? If you look at how well the rolling road closures worked during day 1 there was no reason the doubt it working for day 2. Problem is the motorists.
  16. I hope Kevin wins it. Burry still has lots of years to win
  17. I took a spin on my buddy's Giant XTC and with the tapered head tube and through axle the front end is very stiff and the steering feels a lot more responsive than my On-One Scandal. And it is confidence inspiring when descending some knarly rocky section. I think it's awesome value for money.
  18. I have a Shimano XT 29er MT75 wheelset and they are awesome thus far. Have been running them for a year no and they are still running true. They have proper tubeless rims. No rimstrip required. I have only had hassles with rimstrips and conversions.
  19. Agreed! We should listen to the pro's and all ride Carbon 26" Hardtails. Just ask Julien, Jose and Nino! If you want to ride a 29er, just ride it cause you want to. That's what I am doing.
  20. Cluster is irrelevant in this scenario. Just the RD shifter isn't compatible. They have different actuation ratios
  21. Thought I was going to see an On-One Carbon 29er being tested
  22. 29er Full Suspension is overkill.
