  1. I have an On-One Scandal 29er Slot Drop Out frame. I run it geared I have to use chain tugs as the clearance between the rear tire and the front derailleur is not enough. The problem is that the wheel doesn't stay aligned in the center. Especially after harsh braking the alignment is out and the rotor rubs against the pads. Has anybody had the same problem and how did you solve it? I know you get bolt on tugs but not sure how that will work when you have to remove the wheel to change a flat.
  2. Very very nice
  3. Very nice. Is it 2x9?
  4. Shan Wilson tweeted Kona King Kahuna 260grams lighter than the GF superfly carbon frame!!! Mmmmmm makes u think!!!
  5. The Big Kahuna tech features according to the website reads * Ultimate hardtail cross-country 29-inch wheel mountain bike * Kona Race Light Scandium Butted frame with hydroformed tubing * Zero Stack 1.5 Tapered Headtube * RockShox Recon Solo Air 100mm travel fork * SRAM X9/X7 9-speed drive train * Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disc brakes * Easton XC 29er wheelset But I see the detailed specs says Aluminum 7005. Probably copied and pasted from the 2010 King Kahuna Tech Features
  6. So the 2011 Big Kahuna has the Scandium frame now and replaces the 2010 King Kahuna, Correct? Mampara: The 2011 Kahuna has an Aluminum frame
  7. Any idea what a big kahuna 29er frame would go for? Apparently it is extremely light. http://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=big_kahuna
  8. It's cheap and therefore the durability is not great. That is my experience. I installed one 6 months ago and ride regularly but I am replacing it this weekend with a KCNC BB as the bearings are starting to grind. The salesman from Bester Cycles where I bought the Aerozine said that they can be serviced though so you only need to replace the bearings but still keep the cups and sleeve. Will be cheaper than buying a new one. I am going to send mine to be serviced and see how that works out.
  9. Where did you get the Blackspire Super Pro 38/26 chainrings from?
  10. It was Gary Fisher Collection Treks
  11. Just go to the entrance gate at Fountains and ask for an annual ticket. They issue it there and then and you just show it every time you want to enter either Groenkloof or Fountains. I have one it works out really cheap as I try and ride twice a week.
  12. I want to purchase a XX crank for my On-One Scandel 29er but I am not sure what the correct Q-Factor would be. I can get a Q-156 at a decent price but isn't sure if it will fit correctly. Any advice/suggestions?
  13. I have purchased from them. Very satisfied and their pricing is good
  14. Will the cassette work with XX? Should be 'n whole lot cheaper than XX cassette
  15. Get yourself a trainer tire for your MTB. TACX has a MTB specific tire. They are a lot quieter than normal road or mtb tires.
  16. I know the Bontrager tires are tubeless ready and a bit cheaper that Tubeless versions. On my 29er I run Continental Mountain King and Race King that are also Tubeless ready as tubeless without any hassles. Just getting them to seat the first time is a mission.
  17. I also liked the look and the quality of the Thompson' date=' but this one is carbon, a couple of grams lighter and matches my finishing kit... so it had to go. [/quote'] Fair! Where did you get the 2x Aerozine crank? I am looking for one.
  18. Just my opinion but the layback post looked nicer. But this is an awesome looking bike!
  19. Okay, then I don't know
  20. 2011 X.0 is a 10speed groupset like XX. Just affordable for the non-professionals http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/first-ride-sram-x0-family Plus its a complete groupset with an X.O crank and brakeset. philip.maree2010-06-15 02:37:06
  21. Can you get more 2011 X.O components?
  22. stupid question, but how do you modify/limit the front derailleur or shifter to shift only between the 2 rings and not drop the chain on the inside?
  23. Was wondering if you have clearance issue with the Race King 2.2 at the back? I ran Mountain Kings 2.2 front and back but when I replaced the rear with a Race King 2.2 the clearance suddenly was very little. If you look at the 2 tires the Mountain King looks like a 1.9 and the Race King like a 2.4
  24. Just a note. I have ordered from CRC plenty of times and have come to notice that if a parcel is either extremely large or the value exceeds R5k it is better to use UPS than Parcel Force to get it here. I have had 2 parcels detained by customs and I had to get a clearing agent to release it. I wanted to drive and clear it myself but was promptly informed that I am not an agent and will be wasting my time. With UPS there just is not hassles. They notify U when the parcel is out for delivery, EFT the vat and handling and provide proof of payment to the courier guy. philip.maree2010-05-27 02:30:46
