  1. I laughed out loud in my office until my staff came to check on me. I knew it would be shut down so I stayed glued to the screen. Eventually I just got to read through the locked thread before it was removed. I swear I didn't know such people excisted. Thanks to the Hub I now know better.
  2. Theirs. Both for logistics (finish race, get beer, get on plane) and because I suspect we will do several river crossings (BB et.)
  3. I juzt entered Fatattack.co.za. Lekker man, lekker.
  4. OK BG you win the prize for the biggest straw man argument this year. It is an Italian brand. They don't care about your English sensitivities. They mostly care about building awesome bikes for people that won't want to do Enduro rides on a full rigid bike. Fantastic brand. Yes I would love another one.
  5. One only needs the needle and not the syringe to lance a sore (how ironic that any cyclist wants to Lance anything...). It would not be best instrument anyway.
  6. At 60 you are at SERIOUS risk for bloodclots.
  7. Apologies : Hkt is Afrikaans. The English abbreviation is Hct.
  8. Domestique by Charly Wegelius has lots on this. He had a natural high Hkt. Caused him lots of grief.
  9. Sounds about right. I know previously you had to go for testing (at your own expense) to prove that your natural Hkt is above 50. Maybe the rule changed.
  10. Lance and the boys had their own machines. More primitive then.
  11. As above. You can check your own Heamoglobin levels. Roughly correlates with Heamatocrit. If I remember correctly a Hkt above 49.9 is an immediate offense. (The main effect of EPO is to raise HKT/Hb)
  12. He rather should have asked his Pharmacist to do it for him.
  13. I am very surprised. I honestly thought it will be a shoe in for PPA members. I know you have Karma (and statistics) on your side - you will get in. Trying for another sub3?
  14. At the S2C I started chatting to a guy about HubStuff. He was a real suurgat. I didnt know what to make of it because he was wearing gear from "the Hub". Eventually he told me he was from a clothing store and was irritated by all the peeps wanting to chat to him! I will never buy anything from them because he is obviously not from my tribe. Good Luck to Matt and the gang.
  15. I always wonder why that is repeated so often. If I train for it,work to get seeding, ride as hard as I can - why is it more of a fun ride than say the Panorama? I can assure you that I find it tough because I go as hard as I can. I don't particularly want my ride to be spoiled by some inconsiderate rider that received a free entry. Plenty of space in the last group (where I may join them for a second lap).
  16. If you are lucky enough to live more than 500km from CPT - PPA upcountry membership is something like R160. A fairly cheap way to get a good early bite at the cherry?
  17. Why are women not allowed anymore? (Hiding)
  18. What is the relevance of people not starting? Somebody paid the entry - corporate or individual. The money is in the bank. Less riders means easier logistics. They know what the expected % of no-shows are and budget accordingly. Last tour brought the expenses into sharp focus for me. After tickets, hotel, bike transport etc. etc. just to be under the shower by 08:00. All of this on top of paying and training for 2 laps. Reality Big Time. This will be good for PPA and the charities and that is good. I will be watching on TV. Oh and I cannot see what the point will be to renew my PPA membership.
  19. Online Race is at 19:00 on Tuesday (not Wednesday). All welcome - especially DIPSLICK.
