  1. Have been enjoying their latest album a lot' date=' it's a lot more guitar orientated Goth-Rock than their previous offerings. Still my favourite album of all time. The emotion that he manages to build up is just amazing, and every little sound means something....... just love it.
  2. Nice shots. Just a general question about trials..... How well is the trials scene supported in SA ? Are there some guys down in Cape Town as well ? I haven't seen anyone around, but that's not to say they are not here. Of all the bicycling sports, trials fascinates me the most because of the skill required to do it.
  3. The 69 Eyes - Back In Blood Some kick ass Goth-Rock to get my feet tapping.....
  4. It was exactly heading down to Constantia. I do understand that grit and debris on the side of the road can cause punctures and loss of control etc... and again, why put oneself in that dangerous situation. I find it very hard to comprehend.
  5. I have... and as mentioned, regardless of the argument, you will still either be in hospital or the morgue after being hit by a car.
  6. This is where it all breaks down! People on this forum perpetuate the belief that a bicycle has less rights on the road than a car because a car can do more damage to a bicycle than the inverse. When you are driving your car do you pull over to the side of the road when a truck is behind you' date=' endangering yourself because the truck is bigger than you? A bicycle has a legal right to be on the road. Cyclists do not have to have licenses, because they are not a threat to other road users. We do not have to pay road taxes because we don't use petrol, and we don't do any damage to the road. This does not give cyclists the right to cause problems for other road users, but it also does not give other road users the right to endanger our lives! Be visible, use signals, and take up your rightful place on the road. You'll find that other road users respect you more![/quote']You are 100% correct that a bicycle has the same rights on the road as a car. But no matter how many times you climb up on the soap box to shout it, it will not save you from certain severe injury or death when being hit by a car regardless of who was at fault. The arrogance perpetuated by the larger portion of road cyclists I see by simply placing their own lives in needless danger, simply to be right, is staggering ? Heading home on the M3 the other day going down Wynberg hill was a cyclist riding ON the yellow line, with at least a full car's width to his left ie. the entire emergency lane with car's passing him at speeds anywhere from 80km's/h to 130km's/h. Why on earth would someone willingly place themselves in potential danger like that, other than the pure arrogance of "I have as much right to be on this road as you do" ? Yes we all have a right to the road, but if I feel that there is some danger to my life when on the road whether I am in the right or wrong I will attempt to take myself out of that situation, not stay there because you must realise that I have the right to be there and you should act accordingly. So yes..... if there is a large truck behind me going faster than I am, I will move over. Better to let the danger pass me than be stuck in front of it and a possible lunatic/deranged driver. At the end of the day it's not about wrong or right. It's about either being dead or alive. You choose. JohnnyReggae2009-09-29 04:46:54

  8. They do have a good selection depending on what style of riding you prefer to do. For Mountain Uni I would definitely recommend the Qu-Ax 24" MUni (Yellow Hub). 3 of the guys I ride with regularly have this Uni, and it is a beast and will take anything you care to throw at it. My one the Cross (Red Hub) is not bad either and has taken a lot of abuse so far, and has not flinched with the extra weight I carry well ... sort of .... I did end up bending 3 sets of cranks before changing to a different/stronger make of crank. The aluminium cranks are just rubbish IMO
  9. Fixie... yes. All control is in the pedaling, forward, backwards, braking. You can get a Geared Hub designed by Schlumpf. It has 2 gears: 1:1 ratio 1:1.5 ratio The geared hub will effectively give you the same pedal stroke to distance on a 36" Uni when on a 24" Uni. They are very expensive though and as far as I know there is no one is SA that currently has one. They retail for around R12000, and that's just the hub. For Uni's fitted with brakes they are fitted under the saddle where they can be used by the hand holding onto the handle on the saddle. Brakes are not required though, and are only there as drag brakes in order to save the knees on long downhills, or to help killing some momentum on some steep descents. Getting on or freemounting is just like riding.... it takes practise and is not as hard as it first seems, which is the same thing I say about riding a Unicycle in the first place. Not clipped in. It has been tried before with the obvious consequences If you like face planting then you can try clipping in, although I wouldn't recommend it. It is all just balance, just like riding a bike. Except with a unicycle you need to balance forwards/backwards as well as side to side. Again it's just some practice, and not as hard as it initially seems.
  10. Had an awesome Mountain Uni ride this past Saturday. Some of the guys attempted some amazing lines.

  15. No plan as to where yet. Would depend on where the most interested people are based, or something central for everyone to get to.
  16. bump ... just to bring it up again... Drop a note here if you are interested......
  17. Bolt Thrower - Remembrance
  18. Depending on numbers in JHB, I can chat to Ruan to see whether he would be keen on doing a workshop up there
  19. Posting this to gauge interest in people wanting to attend a Unicycling workshop to learn how to ride a unicycle. Myself and the others that I ride with have been noticing an increase in interest from people about unicycling, and figure that a workshop would be a great idea to get a larger group of interested people together to give them a chance to unicycle. The idea is to hold it on a weekend, probably a Saturday or Sunday morning for a few hours. Enough to try out a few different unicycles and even get riding. We have a range of unicycle sizes and numbers between us to give everyone a go. If you're keen, post to this thread and depending on numbers of interested people I'll arrange something.
  20. I don't see the point of cleaning it actually. My Mountain Uni is made to take the knocks and deal with dirt. In the 21 months that I've had my beast I have never cleaned it In fact the only water it's seen is when I ride through puddles or in the rain. It gets cleaned by mother nature
  21. Cemetery Of Scream - In Your Blood
