  1. 80.4 up Witkoppen... ehehe... ok ok down past Jo'burg Zoo I think.
  2. Normally everyone does the race then comes here to b*tch and moan about this or that, whether it's race tactics or commentary which is fine I guess but we never take the time to thank the people who organized the event and all the sponsors who help make the day such a success and give us cyclist the roads for a whole day! Thanks to Tanya and all the sponsors for a well organized event... next time just get the weather right . I watched some live broadcast yesterday and Tanya said that the finish will change again next year ... I wonder where? Honestly I think Kyalami is a much better venue for the finish... but with Kyalami under new management what are the chance's of the race finishing there again next year. It's not like anyone can get on to the track on the day due to road closure so why don't you just give it to us cyclist for a day?
  3. Who recorderd the race from 05:30? Looking for a copy... Michelle thought she recorded it but from what it looks like she recorded that late night porn cr@p on E-TV. *Sigh*...woman...
  4. She had to make place for "Princess"
  5. rock, I dig them! and think they look great... Don't think you'll have a hassle with them... Thule is a good product!
  6. Rhupert's like Ekimov, He'll ride and ride until someone say's, look Rhupert it's time to quit.
  7. I agree Klapperknop, but if you look at the timing mats on the photo's, they could hardly cover one lane ... but that can be sorted, I think. If not... the chaps will still all have to squeeze to get on to the mat... I dunno. Lets just hope the sun shines on Sunday .
  8. shammy_rash, I agree with you but the rider courtesy?!? Like I said... You don't have the Boonen's doing it... why must the Malcolm Lange's, Rheeders and Jay Thompson's do it? At that point in the race it's flat out... 1st place = lots of prize money... The finish should be set up before the start of the race and the managers should make the riders aware of any dangers... so if the sh*t hits the fan then blame the manager... Sorry Cruxie!
  9. The thing is... if you place the cones 1m in from the side of the road then obviously you gonna have a few cyclist take that chance and try ride in that 1m zone... The sh*t comes when you realize that the cones are 53cm's apart, going at 60kph+... that's when cones start flying and get flung across the road and riders come down... The front riders can see the cones but the chaps behind him are focusing on his back wheel and when you see that cone it's already to late. I don't think it's the riders job to point out obstacles at the finish, well especially not for the pro riders where it's balls to the wall stuff and racing for prize money (I have never seen Boonen point out to Hushovd/McEwen that there's a spectator with a waving hand in the way. Think that's where Hushovd cut his arm this year). I think the finish should already be laid out before the start of the race so that the team managers etc can tell the riders that these are the hazards and dangers at the finish...so watch out when you come in for that final sprint.
  10. He managed 4th but was quite far behind the Mr. Price lads. Like you said it may be due to him not having the kilo's in his legs or not enough training and only him to fight the Mr. Price boys on his own... Where's his team mates? Or is he the team?
  11. Saw Robinson finish at the Bakwena... Looks like the Mr. Price boys are riding him to the ground. Guess that's what you'd expect if it was 25 versus 1... He looked strong though.
  12. Crux, The cones were only moved off the road after the elites crashed... ... The photo's Spidey posted, where you can see the elites coming in... the cones were in the road... and after the crash they moved them all off. I would think something like this. Have your barriers, pack the cones in gradually and guide the riders into the barriers... well not into the barriers but you know what I mean. Maybe also have a 10 - 15m gap between the cones. Not 53cm's. Cause dodging and weaving between cones at 60kph... is a recipe for disaster. You can also throw a few thorn bushes in behind the cones, so the okes that wanna play and ride into them can do so at their own will. Please note I am a certified MSPaint Professional .
  13. Last night the wind was howling pretty much and it was raining real hard... I'll watch you from the car and shout out your split times ... How's the spoke?
  14. Dr. Seuss, The Bela to me is flatter than the Bakwena, there's two little bump's (3km's at 2%) at the end but nothing serious... and yes I agree about the circumstances... I reckon the Bakwena can go under 2 hours if it was a perfect day...
  15. So which is actually the fastest road race in SA? I have these three on my list. The Hyper The Bela Bela The Bakwena Stats: Hyper to Hyper 100km's with 510m Ascent Winners Time was 2:06 (Malcolm Lange) at an average speed of 46.89kph Bela Bela 93km's with 295m Ascent Winners Time was 2:08 (Daryl Impey) at an average speed of 45.73kph Bakwena 97.5km's with 410m Ascent Winners Time was 2:13 (Jamie Ball) at an average speed of 43.9kph So is Bakwena really the fastest!?!?
  16. I see Championchip had the race distance as 94km's and have now corrected it to 97.5km's. My average speed is now 0.04 ... that's my fastest ever .
  17. Jamie Ball - Exel
  18. Hey mallo, was good to meet you! Handling skills? I think it was more the wind that caught my wheels and slowed my fall down . Don't know who the MS chap was that came down in front of me. Does anyone know who all the riders involved there were?
  19. Thanks chaps... But wheelsucking for 97.3km's was the order of the day . I tried to get in a break a way with Peter-Lee, Konica and I think a chap from Colorpress, but that lasted maybe 1 minute just like most of the attacks on the day. In the begining Barend was closing all the attacks and riding real hard... I got tired just watching him. Spinnekop you also went on a few attacks, just a pity that crash half way back seperated the group... but maybe that was a sign of things to come. Seriously flat race... my poep-hol knyp al klaar vir die 94.7km... Sondag is dit k@kaaa tyd... Well done to Chrissie, Lynette and Cherise. I must say I was riding behind Cherise a few times and her cadence was about 100 times more than Lance. Restricted gears must be tough and to place in the last few races is excellent! Well done Cherise! Well done to all and looks like it was another good weekend for the TCS tandems...
  20. ewep, They saw you coming from a mile... Do you also know that wheels have a weight restriction? Just had to chirp someone quick... I'm out... enjoy the weekend!
  21. That's gay... the only person that's allowed to be ripping me clothes off is Michelle and her friends Just kidding... sexyness.
  22. Ag enige Cherry... Ek dink Mrs' Crux sal die rol beter pas want sy is rooier as n Cherry op die oomblik
