  1. Looks like fun
  2. Can I use an adapter to fit it to my Micro Four Thirds camera?
  3. Anybody checked out Gurushots? https://gurushots.com/ Your thoughts?
  4. Did any Zwaanswyk and /or Tokai residents go to the meeting? From the Tokai Trailbuilders FB page I attended the SANParks meeting last night as a resident of Zwaanswyk. No free booze, but there was a presentation on the current situation in the former Tokai plantation. The focus is currently twofold, it seems. Firstly to get all the pine and gums out as soon as possible - they reckon it will take 6 months - and secondly to stabilize and protect the slopes from what is likely to be some nasty erosion. The intense heat from the burning aliens has caused damage to the depth of about a meter. I asked a specific question about what the plans were for mountainbiking and the answer was positive. They see it currently as having a blank canvas and the opportunity to put in a "world class mountainbiking facility" and want to engage the MTB forum and include good trail building ideas. Meetings are scheduled and some of you may be involved with this. He mentioned that they weren't keen to invest in infrastructure in the previous pine plantations as this would inevitably be lost when logging occurred. Time frames given where that Silvermine would likely open in October and Tokai in 18 months or so. I think the message is that we need to engage with them, put forward our ideas and proposals to get what we want.
  5. I don't get it They invited Tokai residents, I suspect that many/most of TnTs clients are from the area. Now they can't come?
  6. Maybe they'll bring some of this http://d77r3ym80c2os.cloudfront.net/HTCforums280_TNT.png
  7. I imagine a lot of TnT guys live in Tokai, so may be going anyway
  8. That is all anyone wants. Maybe some Tokai residents will go and then report back
  9. Sorry, was an afterthought. Didn't think you'd reply that quickly
  10. Sorry, edited my reply. I'm not on the committee. Previously my suggestions have been met with disdain by some of the committee members.
  11. Follow Rob Vogel's lead? Don't just accept what they say. Challenge them on thing. Criticise. This has been said before, even within the committee
  12. Rob is also getting a fair bit of traction with his proposal for the Green Belts
  13. On a positive note, it seems that some previously restricted areas within TMNP will be open to MTB on trial basis in the near future, thanks to Rob Vogel of Table Mountain Bikers
  14. I get that Deon, but if as you say the after a few months the timber may become unusable, would it not make sense to tackle the affected trees first? If there are a few unaffected in a compartment they are harvesting, then cool. But if majority of a compartment are not burnt, leave that for later. Maybe it requires too much thinking, or maybe I'm asking "STUPID" questions (in which case I'm sorry). I'll have to have a closer look to see which "significant portion of levels 4 and 5 have been cleared".
  15. I'm asking whether it is burnt trees that they are taking out? There are some sections that haven't been burnt and are still green
  16. Like I said, I could be wrong. Have you seen them yourself? Also are they from the burnt areas or still healthy timber? It would be interesting to get an idea of percentage (i.e which areas have been cleared)
  17. Any idea how the progress of the Harvesting is going? I understand that some of the lower forest has had some harvesting. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like they've done anything in the upper forest.
  18. "Whinge" is all you got from that? Proper feedback is more what I'm looking for. That and a show of interest from the public Sorry but AFAIK your proposal doesn't have anything to do with when the mountain will be open (trails going forward maybe). How far along is this said proposal?
  19. I see that TokaiMTB has posted it now Notice for Table Mountain National Park talk: 5 May, 7:30pm, The Range. "The Zwaanswyk Association of Property Owners would like to extend an invitation to Tokai residents [and others affected by reserve closures] to attend a talk by Gavin Bell of SANParks on the 5th May at 7.30pm at The Range. He will be talking about the closure of the park, rehabilitation plans and possible land-slides that could happen as a result of all the tree clearances. There will be a cash bar and it is hoped that people can stay after the talk and socialize together."
  20. SANParks rarely has anything of value on their social media. Maybe the Trail runners are just being more pro-active
  21. Apparently SANParks are meeting on 5 May to give feedback on when the mountain will open. I haven't seen any info on the TokaiMTB FB page or twitter This from the Trail and Tar newsletter "SANPARKS TOKAI meeting!!! PLEASE folks, ensure that you make the effort to attend the meeting on 5th May at 19:30 at The Range, in Tokai. Sanparks will be giving feedback on when the mountain will re open, and we need to be there to show our displeasure as to how badly this whole thing has been handled. If you are unhappy, make sure that you are there to have you voice heard!!!"
  22. Camps Bay this morning on the way to work
