  10. Category 4 was won by young Keanu Slingers of the Paarl based Yorkshire Cycling Club. Category 3 was dominated by City CC riders who split the big bunch halfway through the 55 kilometre race when they attacked after the first intermediate sprint. They kept the pace high and maintained the gap throughout the race. Tyron Ingle won the sprint from club mate Lukas Kruger with Rodney Pedro of Kinetic CC taking third place. Category 1 & 2 got off to a flying start but the bunch soon settled down to contest the first intermediate sprint which was won by Jan de Beer of Maties from Chris Wolhuter of SW Contract/Cube. There was a flurry of attacks by the Maties team which resulted in a breakaway for Jan De Beer and Mat Evans of the Berge Farrell team. Matt Evans continued to attack after the second intermediate sprint won by Jan De Beer and opened up a 30 second time gap on the bunch. With the laps ticking by the Maties team went to the front and brought back Evans on the penultimate lap. Stefan Ihlenfelt bided his time over the last 500 metres and kicked when it mattered, taking the sprint for the Maties from Nabig Davids of Heinz Park CC. The next Winter league event will be taking place out in Atlantis Industria on Sunday 22 April on the Neil Hare Drive Circuit. Results WPCA road race 15 April 2012 Category 4 1. 11. one of the first dev riders who was crossed over to mtb (for pc reasons) from road was Patrick Majeke. his first intro to multi stage mtb'ing was the trans alps where he nearly killed himself when he missed a bridge over a gully. he had to be helicoptered out to hospital.
  12. i got word from the WP admin team that the events office instructed the WPCA to postpone the event to the 29 April (long w'end). when i drew up the calendar, i avoided this weekend because of SA track champs in P M berg. not to worry , if we don't have sufficient officials i'll employ a video camera to record the finishes. news - the Argus want to preview these events and also report on the races (BIG +). website/electronic newsletter, lets get the series up & running. i'm still trying to convince clubs to buy into hosting races, as it is City CC are hosting 2 events.
  13. profit / loss does it really matter (in the cape epics case).......cash flow is the heart beat and he gets his cash way upfront.

  17. i would avoid the Ocean View hill and would rather ride down to Kommetjie and over the pass. i agree, a spectacular ride with even some detours, like up Red Hill.
  18. David Garratt leads the way to the podium
  19. if the South Easter blows it will a head wind from the start till the corner of Smitswinkel climb. from there it will be a tailwind till past Ocean view hill , a head wind up kommetjie road till the traffic lights in sun Valley/Noordhoek. it will be windless up the climb of chappies but a head wind on the way down, so much so , that you will have to pedal. the same goes for Suikerbossie. the most dangerous will be after Suikerbossiie where the wind will be pushing you from behind but around some of the corners it will be against you.
  20. Calvin Probert , one of City's younger riders
  21. Tyrone Ingle recent winner of the City crit champs leads out the other clubs in the inter club event.
