  1. "alloy compared to carbon - alloy flexes more than carbon (ask any roadie)" I thought the whole point of carbon was flex (and weight saving)?
  2. 12 Months ago I asked the same question on behalf of my wife and followed the general consusus vote of Rudy Project Rydons with inserts. She has been very happy with the result.
  3. You got off cheaply. My colleague got a R100 000 roaming data bill and never even turned his iPad on. The real solution is prepaid. Load up 1 or 2 gig data on the first and it will last two months unless you are downloading videos. It is not such a pain as you would suspect.
  4. Don't bother training much. Then take pain killers and drink red bull by the litre from the 10km mark. If you live you will have more self respect than if you trained for it.
  5. "does any one know the route profile of the 50/60km mtb race?" Flat like a pancake.
  6. What time on Sunday? Anyone know?
  7. My legs just started cramping at my desk just thinking about four days of climbing in that area.
  8. Insurers do this for a reason. The reason is that if you accept claims without forced entry claims go through the roof from people who 'just want a new bike'. There are enough dishonest people out there that insurers need to have clauses like this to protect them. Always read your policy properly. If you don't understand something, ask your broker. If you don't - its like buying a car and then crying a river when you discover that it does not include free petrol.
  9. Some more details please. Is it on district roads or on a farm? Is there much climbing?
  10. "I think i might add that I'm looking at 26", not 29er" Don't say things like that around here. They will ban your account for trolling.
  11. "Were's that bloody phyton when you need him... " Lol.
  12. "So, no front suspension? Solid fork?" Carbon, Steel or Titanium. All have some flex compared to Aluminium.
  13. Happened to a mate once at low speed. No injuries.
  14. "potty mind" Apologies for any offence caused, but I just can't help think of Australians when the word 'Dirty' is mentioned.
  15. Down and Dirty - sounds like an Australian hippy porno.
  16. Can't help wonder if certain cycling 'knowns' are not as accurate as we believe. http://www.reuters.com/london-olympics-2012/articles/swimming/2012/07/18/faster-swimmers-paddle-duck-kick-dolphin
  17. +1 Lets take our city back.
  18. "Awesome - gone up my shortlist of countries to move too" You do realise that it is a stone's throw from the north poll?
  19. "My front wheel is clicking but only if im riding it. Check backpack for little fellow from The Gods Must Be Crazy - failing that, bearings click when then need servicing or replacing.
  20. "Visit the Bryanston bike park - it's a great place to build skills and confidence." Actually, rather don't - there are lots of tricky things there intended for more experienced riders. I have personally seen some new riders come very short there. Rather do northern farms or even Krugersdorp Game Reserve. Don't ride alone if you are new to the sport.
  21. "It seems like they build a great piece followed by a sh*te piece" My old varsity Trail Building Psychology 101 textbook. If you only build good trails the bikers will complain like women at a tea party. Be sure to intersperse good trail with intentionally constucted bad trail, and they will happy as pigs in butter.
  22. "Offer classes on bicycle maintenance and repair and make ure you have a good wrench." ...or even better a good wench.
  23. 40km. If you don't feel like you have been steamrollered after a race you are not trying hard enough.
