  1. At least it's not another "the pharmacist spiked my drink" story.
  2. Gents - opinions. I've been working more and more with Rapide components. Local guy in Kensington JHB that does lots of components. Check out his website www.rapide.co.za At around R2k, his dropper posts are very affordable, and because it works with a sealed cartridge, a service means buying a new cartridge for a few hundred ZARs, think he said around R600. I believe a Reverb service costs around R2k. Anyways, I'm happy to punt his product as he has been extremely helpful to me always and I have not found any flaws in any of his products. Not sure when the posts will be available. The reality is the cycling industry takes us for a ride all the time, this definitely might be a chance to buy something reasonable at a good price. I will be buying one.
  3. By the sounds of things most of our commuters are CPT based, understandable. Any JHB Bike lane users here? CBD and surrounds? This week I celebrate my 1000th km of commuting. Bought the old hardtail a half link chain and smaller gear to say congrats. Been great. Strong like bull!
  4. This is not a loaded question, really. Why is AM better than J&J baby bum cream or similar I have been using?
  5. When I cycle home today it will be the first week I have 100% commuted on leg power. Been getting used to it over the last 4 weeks and WOW. Good for the brain, good for race times, saving a small outhouse full of ZARs on diesel. Built myself a rigid 26er SS 85% from spares I had in the garage anyway, how can it be that this is the most fruitful investment of my professional career? Ok obviously I haven't been working long, but still, long live legpower
  6. Ja flip, stupid cars/motos/taxi/peds in bike lanes. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate that. Stupid stupid stupid. Just wanted to join the chorus.
  7. PICTURES PLEEEEEAAAAASSEEE
  8. C'mon roadies gimme some opinions! It's nearly Friday anyway!
  9. REVIVAL!!!! OK Thinking of buying bad-ass look-cool super-aero deep sections. I'm a 90kg strongish rider very comfortable with handling a bike, planning only doing TTs & Tri's. Anyone have experience of using Tri-spokes vs 80mms or such? EL 70.3 is the next target, is an 80 still best in the strong wind if one can handle it? Done lots of reading on the interwebs - looking for the infinite experience, wisdom and tact only Hubbers can give. Takes?
  10. Im glad he can race Epic again
  11. Honestly, I feel so desensitized about pro's doping I don't even care anymore. It's a sad state to be in, but honestly, do we really think the pro's that aren't banned are clean? A lot are, a LOT haven't been caught. NH, DG, LA and all the rest are very talented cyclists that made bad calls in a worse environment. Losing to someone who dopes shouldn't be a reason to dope, but honestly, given the circumstances I can't say all reasonable men I know, myself included, wouldn't choose what they did.
  12. Its not exactly a bullet coffe, but at Motherland coffee in Dunkeld theres one called the Dictator: Double Espresso, whipped cream and condensed milk it moered me out of my brackets (Im am a lil sensitive to caffeine though) Was literally still jittery late last night and I had it before lunch..
  13. Thats what Ive been thinking the whole time! (Just in less detail) I'd like to hear from someone who knows, 'cus I don't, how hard it would be to pick up that tiny amount of banned substance (cmon, if we're believing "honest mistake contamination" it could only be a minuscule mount transferred) in his system, and how long it stays there. I can't say he is lying, and I am glad he's off because I want to see him race, but one can't help but think it's a little suspicious given the history of our beloved sport.
  14. Make a friend who is on Momentum Multiply. They have a webstore, I got the tri-bundle for R3600, deal!
  15. Any takers? Otherwise ima crack the code on this thing, well, try..
  16. Yo Howdy. Found a black cable bike on the spruit just down from the dam area.. Im in Emmarentia.. PM me cheers
  17. Looks like such a siiick track!
  18. Just read this - good read!! Partner and I assumed our "race names" again.. I am Vonkiedool and he is Barkvallas. (It would make more sense if you're a dutchman - its a spoonerism) We used "spoeg" and "plak" as terms for holding back or sticking slip.. great fun
  19. my quick 2c on the training: More. Lots more. Shes managed to do relatively well with little training and natural talent but reeling in that 30 minute gap takes a whole lot more. Maybe not full time, yet, but maybe she should work in a couple of interval session with her current training, its short and lekker effective..
  20. I want to, but am in Jozi. Eish!
  21. Haha thanks, was a good tumble. Wil put up video of it tomorrow. Andy, if you want the full file PM me your email address and I'll dropbox it to ya.
  22. My 2c: (I'm pretty much your size, btw) If you dont have the cash now, I'd aggree with Hayden too. Smack some kit on and ride it like you stole it.. DEFS a dropper seatpost, best investment I ever made. When your ship arrives however. Looking for a solid bike to do XC but still play on at a decent price I can recommend the Scott Genius. The 29" comes with 130mm travel, 650B with 150mm I think. The twinlock system makes it GREAT for XC and for some serious downhill fun too. I've destroyed Jonkers and G with it on my good days. Its really a lekke bike, good suspension and the dropper post is the cherry on the cake. There are a others out there - I like the twinlock system on the Genius.
  23. Yep Nope
