  1. Eish. So we still have to send units to JHB? A button on my 18month old F7 got stuck, causing all sorts of issues. I have a race coming up in 2 weeks, but also, I can't really use the watch is. We should have better options.
  2. okay. So they look like they real deal, and 99% sure they are. But also pretty sure these are factory rejects (blemishes, not perfectly round, etc). Still worth it, but little stock avaialble at my store.
  3. There's a shop literally 3 mins from my place. Hopefully they have stock so I can compare. If it's the real thing I'll definitely get some!
  4. But are these ACME though? Not some sort of counterfeit?
  5. Reviving the thread for a classic Friday rant. I've had a pair of "originals" for a while. Bought it on a Black Friday sale R450,00 instead of R650. I needed something sports-casual for e.g. running, paddling, etc. where I won't be too sorry if I lost it in water, broke the frame, etc. General reviews were limited but decent, but my impressions not so much: The "feel" is on the cheap side. Feels more like R150 glasses than a R650 pair "HDo (High Definition optics) lenses" is anything but High Definition. It really does not compare to High Definition Optics with an ® from Oakley. The anti-glare coating wore off after 1 year. Customer service claims that it shouldn't affect UV protection, but I'm not sure. I've ordered a replacement pair of lenses in Dec 22, but they keep getting backlogged due to shipping issues. So, ja, wouldn't recommended.
  6. If you remove 1 spoke is it still a wheel? How many spokes can you remove before it just becomes a rim and a hub?
  7. The whole system is stupid. The application process is outdated. I don't even know what the fees are for. Definitely not for repairs. Most of our (non-cycling) trails in TM are repaired by volunteers. The last time I've seen a ranger on site was during Lockdown when they dutifully guarded TM against illegal adventurers.
  8. Hey now, don't judge people by their looks. Maybe she just prefers the odd ebike ride on the weekend rather than pushing a top fuel up steep climbs.
  9. You want stress? Try driving a roof rack on a hatchback during a howling Cape Town southeasterly. 😅
  10. Closer to 10% to 20%
  11. It's me, your long lost friend! I have a 24 hour stopover in Doha but can't enter the country due to Fifa.... 🙃 "For a fee, ticket holders may use their approved Haaya card to bring in three friends or relatives who do not hold a ticket for one of the official World Cup events". Those that have the permit will know... So, will you be my friend? 😄 I'm willing to pay of course.

  13. See may ad on the wheelset. Probably not what you're looking for but I'd be willing to let the rear wheel go for a beer.
  14. Garmin SA. You have to send in your device to Joburg for a quote though. Alternatively, order a battery online and follow youtube videos for DIY instructions.
  15. Thanks @droo. I've played around a bit without the spherical washers (I don't have the cylindrical blacks ones) but ran into the problem where the Elixir adapter collides with the calipers - the bend/kink in the adapter is maybe like 1mm too close. But that was during my lunch break where I didn't have enough time and patience to properly check the setup and I had to get back to work 👎
  16. Mhmm okay so the Hope 140/160+20mm adapters have an eccentric mount, which is different to Shimano/SRAM/Avid's setup. I
  17. Just the other way around - the PM adapter is to deep so the pads don't make full contact with the rotor. I'm trying to find some info on adaptors for the M4 but those pdf's aren't in circulation anymore...
  18. I'm swapping out my Elixirs for Tech M4's. My thought was that I should be able to keep the rotors and same shim/spacer/adapter layout on the post-mount and that the pad-to-rotor contact points would be roughly the same on the new setup. But with the M4's the calipers are about 0.5cm outward, i,e, not making full contact any more. So what are my options? I can't move the caliper unit closer to the post as it (a) collides with the (Elixir-specific) adapter and is getting rather close to the spokes. Should I: Get a Hope-specific adapter? Get bigger rotors? ...different brakeset? Shot
  19. Hmm I've been eyeing some XT/SLX brakesets on the BikeHub market, but threads like this suggests I should consider otherwise.
  20. Oh and at one stage funkypants also doninated the parkrun scene. But they only do tights.
  21. Boldgear. Popular around Cape Town, but definitely not a big brand....yet. They have been doing branding for quite a few big trail running events around here. K-way also has trail running gear. Mr Price is mostly made in China (correct me if I'm wrong) so it doesn't count.
  22. Our local races only adds to your Race Index or something, but the qualifier stones can only be achieved by participating in an official UTMB event - which we don't have in ZA.
  23. Just did. Wanted to be sure of my facts first. I'm like 95% sure now.
  24. Different pichas but same breks. Same scuff marks. Same dirt. Same packaging (box, cable twists). The could be a simple explination, except that:
