  1. R E V I V E! Can anyone advise on battery replacement for a Fenix 3? Garmin SA can't provide an estimated quote without sending in the device to Jhb (from Cpt). I'm still using my device on a daily basis so I don't want to go through the process only to reject a quote if it's not worth it...
  2. Yeah, my impression is that they don't have stock towbars for this model for a reason... I'll ask around a bit more about the towbar but it seems that I should maybe go for something like the Saris hatch rack - it spreads a bit of the weight to the rear bumper which would help in my case. Alternatively there's the clip on roof rack + bicke rack system (eg Holdfast) but I'm not to keen on that option.
  3. Hi all, As the title says: does anyone have any experience with fitting an aftermarket towbar on a Nissan Micra (2011-2015 model)?? The official dealers do not have any official parts for this one. If not, what reliable after-market suppliers could I approach? I currently have a Thule Clip-On which does the job as well but it puts a significant compressive force on the bootlock and surrounding rubber supports when loaded with two MTBs. TIA ????
  4. Both pairs of my Peregrines (different year models) did the same. I know of 3 other people who had the same issue. One of them bought the shoes from a very reputable shop in Cape Town. Their response was that it was caused by a biomechanical issue.
  5. Local pricing at R4500 for the pro. I'd rather get 4 pairs of the Fastwitch racing flats for the same price. https://www.omni-sport.com/collections/endorphin/products/endorphin-pro
  6. I expect it to be something like this. The second symptom (after a slipping chain) was the RATAtAtATA of the hanger hitting the spokes. I was too far from any car-accessible road to walk out of the park so I also resorted so field surgery which was to bend it back a bit (without bending other parts). Since the outlook would be either write-off at this stage I might as well try some more bending.
  7. Yeah I replaced the hanger with a new one - made no difference at all. I loosened the limit screw beyond the limit where it has any influence on the the derailleur.
  8. Hey Hub Experts My ride got rudely interrupted by a little twig which probably caused the Bends. I've checked the hanger - even did a swapped a new - that seems fine. But judging from the cage alignment (see upside down view, attached) it is probably the derailleur that is bent. In the zero-tension position I can't get the chain to set to the smallest cog Given the little bit of available info, could this be fixed? In completely unrelated topic: anyone interested in a mint-condition, better-than-new XT-derailleur? Edit: pic
  9. Didn't you learn anything from Revenge of the Sith? In the end, the oke with the ^moral high tower ground survived but his mate who didn't listen almost died and ended up on ventilator support for the rest of his life.
  10. That's why I still (try to) get up around 6am. The mountains are amazing and there are very few people on the trails before sunrise (both good and bad for soloists like myself). I don't think it's so much the couches but maybe more the freedom of movement and curfew? I used to be out on the road everyday but now I won't be caught alive on it!
  11. Those who changed their minds based on any of the arguments presented here please raise your hands... I know I haven't. Thanks your comment was mostly the point I was trying to make: that there are a lot of hypocrisy in this fred re. wearing a mask because it's the law(?). Myself included. There are some good arguments on both sides of the spectrum, especially on why rules should be challenged. But whenever I see Jews, Nazis, Apartheid Sheeple or Bill Gates thrown in the mix it goes out the window. Like my votes and recycling - even if it's just a drop in a bucket (almost literally) I'll wear it. Heck, maybe in 5 years time research will show that it WAS spread by 5G and the mask wearing was all for nothing /s
  12. This fred is getting more entertaining every day. I'm really curious as this is a cycling forum after all: how many of you stop at red robot? Or how many go nah 'people in apartheid/nazi germany did not abide by the silly rules' and just jump it? Do you do the same in a car? If so, why or why not?
  13. Noice. Are these full 'knit' fabric at the front or just an outer layer? If there's one thing I dig about modern running shoes it's the 'knit'-like materials.
  14. The incident happened in Nursery Ravine, so likely hiking /running related. I don't have any other info atm.
  15. Not with Summit subscription, which basically blocks all traceable amounts.
  16. I don't wear my mask (buff) cause the government says so. I wear it because SCIENCE says it will protect both you and me from 5G and Bill Gates.
  17. Apart from Wear Direct, are there any shops atound Cape Town CBD / Seaboard that sell the Anatomic facemasks?
  18. I'm seeing more and more of my strava buddies in the Seaboard extending their radius. I think it's the gatvol thing as others have mentioned. I'd be lying if I say I did not consider doing this myself. But to me it's more of a boredom issue: you can only ride/run around Signal Hill so many times. As for health safety: to avoid the masses you just have get up before 6 and avoid the promenade (I seriously don't why people have such a need to be on the prom). At the moment I'm just happy to have health, a full paying job and being able to exercise outside my apartment. But who know how long either of these (incl the happiness) will last...
  19. Yooooohhh. I get that some people like do not like to wear their mask 100% of the time. You encounter a few on the road that may forget to put up a mask, but luckily the roads are wide and few cars are on the road this early in the morning. And if you want to push past you 5km boundaries: not cool, but it won't really affect me. But a +- 10 people group ride with not a single person wearing some excuse of protecting - now that's a bunch of bellheads. Seriously, who are you sticking it to? Not the president nor Ms Zol. You are sticking it to your family / friends / strangers that you come into contact with. You are sticking it to the front line workers literally putting their lives at risk. You are sticking it to the common folk like me doing whatever they can to reduce the spreading. You are sticking it to 95%+ of cyclists that must suffer a bad rep because of a minority group. You are not a rebel. You are a dutch-word-for-cat. So I gave em ye old eff-you and flippin bird for whatever it's worth. Otherwise a superb morning.
  20. Mother! %#@$! Apartment living has it's downsides I do agree with the rules but it doesn't mean that I like it.
  21. Seems like you can fit your old cages? If I don't feel like using the Lyne side entry one?
  22. Just when we forgot that Power Balance was a thing ... TRIONZ (I received an email today ) "The ZEN DUO-LOOP 4 Magnet wristband features an ION CORE™, central rubberised core infused with powerful negative ion producing minerals" "Polarized anodized brushed Pod Capsule containing 4 x 1,000 Gauss Magnets with Trion:Z patented ANSPO technology" "Trion:Z negative ion infused ION CORE™ producing over 1,500 negative ions per second."http://i.imgur.com/i6JqI0Y.gif One of their products: Zen Loop Solo R499Stylish and functional, the brushed stainless steel power POD features 2x 1,000 gauss magnets working together to produce one of the most powerful products of its type on the market today. Yass. How can people design BS like this? How can copywriters write BS like this? How can people with a conscience sleep over BS like this? Sorry bout the formating.
  23. They are selling the Nimbus 17 here at the V&A Waterfront in cpt. About R1.8k (can't remember) at the Athlete's Foot. If anyone desperately needs a pair I could have a look at size availability). Just PM me.
