  1. C'mon OP, at least wait till Friday before posting something like this
  2. I would like to think that I would have been content with a 935 or even Forerunner 7-series if I didn't do trail running. But I can just rave on and on about how awesome it is to have the maps with touch. Its so easy to pin to a location mid-activity, e.g. if you quickly want to activate climb-pro while on the run. Wouldn't do that on a bike though.. The stamina feature is also one of the greatest gimmick. X amount of km's or minutes until you bonk.
  3. The solar vs non-solar does not affect screen estate or bezel size. The 7X also offers more battery life, though the 7 has plenty to begin with.
  4. yeah. My decision to go for the F7 is that I want something that can last 5 years or so. I'm still not convinced the AMOLED of the Epix would do that. But the Instinct? Nope. The 2nd gen seems like a great watch, but I'm not down for the Casio look. But the biggest miss is the mapping features - understandably so for a B&W screen. If Garmin started releasing full mapping features to their mid-tier watches I'd definitely consider those options....
  5. Got my F7 hand delivered from the US at last 😀 Opted for sapphire solar because I'm planning to use it until it dies (like my F3 did... RIP). Also, I'm hoping the multiband GPS does add accuracy. Not only for mountain missions, but also for site-work - marking POIs and such. If there was a cheaper option without solar I would've went for that. The performance with touch and maps is awesome. I got a subscription of BirdsEye sat imagery for the fun of it - works okay (colors are a bit dull obviously), but I think the Epix would really bring the best of that.
  6. Does that mean the 99 Scott Spark RC 900's I ordered won't be delivered?
  7. I'm impressed. They event created a logo:
  8. Plenty on takealot in R150 range (excl shipping)
  9. While in South America I bought a second hand XCaliber very similar to this one. Really liked the geometery. And even though it was specced well below my "SA" bike I still had a lot of fun on it. From the pics looks like it had little use, but Hubbers always tend to be on the cautious side 😉
  10. Nice, thats like R2500 below Garmin's RRP.
  11. Yeah well Garmin now made the difference more than physical - multi-band GPS support (seriously, why not on base models?!) + larger onboard memory. The titanium casing is contributes to a slightly lighter watch
  12. For the same $$$ I would rather get a non-sapphire pro than a sapphire without the pro features. But to each their own. Edit: NVM, Garmin models are too confusing.
  13. I'd rather have no maps/markers than incorrect, vague or outdated maps/markers.
  14. The Fenix navigation is more suited for slower moving, i.e. running and hiking. Maybe the 7X is big enough for mounting on a MTB, but I would rather have a dedicated Edge if you need navigation on the bike.
  15. Pre-orders available: https://www.garmin.com/en-ZA/c/wearables-smartwatches/ About R1500 - R2000 more than in the states.
  16. Useless answer: more than you expected/calculated. Almost always.
  17. Mhmm I'll save this one for one day. Going to ride my '11 Alu frame until the end of days, not sure if my Reba will last that long.
  18. This. Especially for a watch that costs R20k you'll want it to last. There are mitigations for to prevent or reduce screen burn in but only time will tell.
  19. I like the idea of a touchscreen for maps. Plus faster password entry for Garmin pay (seen it on my Wife's VA4). But yeah, as @lechatnoir said - waiting for DC's review - probably after the official launch this afternoon.
  20. Coming from the 6(pro), no, probably not worth it. But coming from an Ambit 3 after my Fenix 3 broke - I'm strongly consider it. Still a lot of $$$.
  21. Officially launching later today. Starting from 700 USD https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/735573/pn/010-02540-10 https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/760778/pn/010-02582-00 Anyone taking bets on local prices?
  22. Nike (and many other competing brands) are marketing more towards the fitness/athleisure crowd. It's like how every 2nd car is a SUV/CUV/whateverUV.
