  1. I'd rather have no maps/markers than incorrect, vague or outdated maps/markers.
  2. The Fenix navigation is more suited for slower moving, i.e. running and hiking. Maybe the 7X is big enough for mounting on a MTB, but I would rather have a dedicated Edge if you need navigation on the bike.
  3. Pre-orders available: https://www.garmin.com/en-ZA/c/wearables-smartwatches/ About R1500 - R2000 more than in the states.
  4. Useless answer: more than you expected/calculated. Almost always.
  5. Mhmm I'll save this one for one day. Going to ride my '11 Alu frame until the end of days, not sure if my Reba will last that long.
  6. This. Especially for a watch that costs R20k you'll want it to last. There are mitigations for to prevent or reduce screen burn in but only time will tell.
  7. I like the idea of a touchscreen for maps. Plus faster password entry for Garmin pay (seen it on my Wife's VA4). But yeah, as @lechatnoir said - waiting for DC's review - probably after the official launch this afternoon.
  8. Coming from the 6(pro), no, probably not worth it. But coming from an Ambit 3 after my Fenix 3 broke - I'm strongly consider it. Still a lot of $$$.
  9. Officially launching later today. Starting from 700 USD https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/735573/pn/010-02540-10 https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/760778/pn/010-02582-00 Anyone taking bets on local prices?
  10. Nike (and many other competing brands) are marketing more towards the fitness/athleisure crowd. It's like how every 2nd car is a SUV/CUV/whateverUV.
  11. Deluxe used to do a quad shot with a hint of milk. Tried it once. Never again.
  12. Saw the heading. Have nothing useful to add. But since it's mini-Friday, gonna leave this here.
  13. Haha well that's just it. Only this...and that... and that... I currently have a home loan with Bank X. I won't switch banks, so I'll have to open a secondary account. Sure, I can get the cheapest of the credit card options - but their rewards are all tiered as well - more rewards with more expensive card, etc.
  14. Haha yeah, I actually ran them Barzos for years, never had problems, unlike my Contis.... This was a first. I've got a feeling that it was some kind of factory residue inside the tire that messed with the sealant. I didn't add any soap or water to set the tire - just a good dose of CO2. I topped up two tires with the same sealant - this new one definitely had discoloring compared to my other tire with many km's on it. Anyways, I patched the tire (after the first reply in this thread), replaced the sealant. Rode some super rocky trails today. All held up.
  15. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-tyres/519454/vittoria-barzo-29-01-tread-left-free Tire for commuting project. May get 5km or so out of it 😅
  16. Interesting, I always assumed they used digitial elevation models (e.g. SRTM) like Google Maps does. 117 got me reading, a quick read while you're sipping a glass of Steenberg: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216919447-Elevation-for-Your-Activity
  17. The upgrade from 26er to 29er obviously made OP faster, meaning fewer samples on corners, thus shorter distance. OP should borrow a 27.5" and do the loop a couple of times. This might end the war on wheel sizes once and for all. #yayitsfriday
  18. Yeah that's just the thing. The hole doesn't warrant a plug. I saw now that the sealant in this new tire (Vitorria Barzo, Tan wall) looks darker than the sealant in my older tire (and in the bottle). Maybe it reacted with the compound? So I patched the tyre, going to up with fresh sealant...
  19. Help I've been struggling with a new tire. Fitting was quick and simple, but ever since I got a tiny pinhole (thorn or something) it won't seal. It just sprays the (Ryder sealant eveywhere). I've topped up with sealant - there's still enough in there, but the hole keeps re-opening - painting the bike and myself in sealant. What do?
  20. Is there anyone on Vitality/Vitality Active without the Bank, Drive,, Insurance, etc.? I've had a look at the options again, but it seems that you really have to sell your soul to Disco to make it worth it, or am I missing something?
  21. I had an old roadbike once where I used one of those hard black irrigation tubes cut to size as a shim so I can fit a 'normal' stem. It actually worked brilliantly and I used it like this for more than 3 years. Never had any issues but I'm sure there's a ton of hubbers that can point out the safety issues in this.
  22. Those "On" sell well in Cpt - great shoes for doing marathons in the V&A. But that's just my cynical observation.
  23. Man, forget about the latest and greatest. Buying second/hand demo stock/older models can save lots of $$$. No more BS about supply chains and inflation. E,g, - sure, external shocks are so 2021, but for only R105k you can walk away with this bargain.
