  1. I only spotted it on my second lap, it was rather mean! What did it say again? Something about ...40km. edit: It was a nice reminder of the suffering ahead.
  2. I had some blood work done just to check how my electrolytes were doing, thought I'd check thyroid and HbA1c while I was at it. Thyroid was fine and my HbA1c was 5.1%, I'm not sure what that indicates as I haven't researched the topic, doctor just said that below 6% was normal. My Magnesium is slightly low but nothing to worry about, I do take daily Mg supplements. NO GRAINS! Really. (granted that my exception is one plate of sushi every other week, I usually just have sashimi) Pasta would be one of the worst choices you could make. Stick to veggies, healthier, more nutrient dense, no phytates (anti-nutrients), no gluten, not processed etc. How to choose your produce: (guidelines) High carb: veggies that grow below the ground, squashes and fruit. Low carb: veggies that grow above the ground and leafy greens.
  3. Watch this video to understand where Peter Attia comes from, well his views.
  4. Didn't recognize you either, no harm done. Thanks, and congrats on the double for CHOC.
  5. Sparrows fart - 2? Or are you going to be setting a new course record?
  6. Dude!! Only now do I realise that I was chatting to you on my second loop! There were 3 of us doing a second loop together when we caught up to you and started chatting, myself on a white and red Pinarello, another on a white and black Pinarello and the third on a white Argon 18. We were in black and grey "Parkview Night Riders" kit (Below)
  7. 2274m
  8. Good luck, I can already feel the pain and suffering coming your way.
  9. There seems to be quite a few of us with this issue. It was my PB by 3min as well as finishing with a top 10 in A.
  10. 06:55 start for us, team 231.
  11. My neighbour and training partner, what a machine!! Just to confirm, black S-Works dual suss? For sure, only riding 1hr this week.
  12. Yes, "XTR M970-M980" and "XT M-780-I"
  13. Besides for what shifters it is compatible with, it just has "#D".
  14. .
  15. Tough day out! Rode a 2h26m06 from A and is my PB. Just annoying that my chip didn't register as I see I came in 5th. As for the second lap, never again. It is chaos out there with the later "groups". It was fun and games for the first 40km, after that I was just gatvol. 3h45 for the second. Crazy, and here I though I was cool for reaching 82km/h.
  16. Yes, specifically the i-spec shifters. (XT M780)
  17. Cool, so brakes were delivered this afternoon. Problem, I received the wrong matchmakers. They gave me the ones for the Tech lever and not the Race lever (the mounting angle differs by 90 degrees.) What I got: http://www.mtbikers.com/images/products/g23900.jpg What I need: http://r2-bike.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Hope-matchmaker-Race-hebel-bremse-Shimano-saint-slx-XT-XTR-schalthebel.jpg So no new brakes for me just yet. They are super sexy though.
  18. Same thing happened to me.
  19. Unfortunately EvoBikes didn't have the Tech X2's in stock in the end BUT I'll soon be the happy owner of a set of Race X2s.
  20. My 2nd one this year, it is going to be a blast. We are on form this year, we had one team ride together as opposed to none last year.
  21. Hope Stealth Race X2 EVO brake set, will post pics when the arrive.
  22. There is no need to count because your body has the ability to regulate itself. When you start feeling full, you stop eating and when you're hungry (not peckish,) you eat. That is why there is no need to count. Granted that if you do up your fat, in the beginning stages it is very much like the doctor that says you can eat all the ice-cream and jelly you want when you get your tonsils out. Yes you can eat "all you want" but that doesn't mean you have the ability to do so. Point being, on the standard diet that doesn't contain too much fat, one's liver is accustomed to only needing to produce a certain amount of bile. So if you eat too much too soon you will feel nauseous because your body isn't accustomed to it and it needs to learn to produce more bile in order to break down all the "additional" fat. - Hope that makes sense. PS, steer clear of KFC or any fast food joint of any kind, it's not the greasy factor, it is the type of grease as well as the questionable origin and quality of what you are putting in your body.
  23. The front of your batch should come in on about 2h40, so as long as you can hang on the bunch for long enough you should make it. Best of luck.
  24. I think that those that argue in the favour of grains or "Whole Grains" don't take these 3 things into account. They just see it as a unprocessed food, therefore it must be healthy... The way I see it, if you are eating food high in phytates (Do you get low levels in non-grain/legume sources?) you are wasting money eating all the nutritious food in your diet due to the anti-nutrient characteristics of phytates. Granted, rather "waste" money eating quality whole foods than starches and processed foods.
