  2. For all of you who don't have the full dstv package, I just saw now that they have unlocked all 13 supersport channels for the remainder of the month no matter which package you are on, enabling you to watch all the rest of the TDF as well as whatever other sports take your fancy! The sport channels will also be available on the DSTV now app for any package.
  3. Eish, I thought I had my team all buttoned up but now I am making changes again and again....
  4. Hey guys! I finally got a chance to visit le hub again and realised it's tdf fantasy tour time!! I have made my (probably useless) selections and hope to be able to at least finish the tour with a full team - last year I only had 6 left out of 12.
  5. I don't see why it is so unbelievable for Froome to have gained around 3 minutes 20 seconds on TD over 80km. If you do the sums, that equates to around 2.5 seconds per kilometer. If 1 rider gains 25 seconds advantage in a 10km solo breakaway no one even bats an eyelid. The way I see it, Chris was able to measure and maintain his effort without going too deep and just slowly slowly pulled out a lead - which if you take the gains he made on the downhills out of the equation, then it works out to much less than 2.5 seconds per kilometer which is totally believable in what was essentially a man against man 80km time trial.
  6. I know I've been scarce here over the last few weeks due to being so busy with work but I still get to read through all the comments. Man oh man what an absolutely amazing, masterful ride by Froome. The strategy was so simple and yet so effective. On a stage like yesterday with so many huge climbs, Sky knew that if they could ride all the gc guys' support riders off their wheels early on in the race it would just come down to a battle between the last few gc riders who could sustain that fierce tempo in the beginning. Thereafter it would basically be a competition between who can climb/ descend/ TT and take risks better than Froome all by themselves without the help from their teammates as the guys who were chasing him were not interested in helping each other out as it was counter-productive to their own gc battles. I get that cycling is a team sport but on days like this, you get to see which rider is the complete package and can do all disciplines by themselves. A regular TT is just too clinical and calculated to be exciting like this stage was. What a wonderful spectacle. I think I will have to re-watch that final 85km a few more times. Phew.
  7. Ooh goodie. I just love the vibe around this race. Maybe one day when I am big....
  8. What still amazes me is every time I go to the local Spur I make a point of looking around at all the tables in the restaurant and every time almost every single person is drinking some sort of alcoholic beverage. Each one of those tables has a driver who is busy drinking - more than 1 drink and then they all proceed to get up after their meal and drive their families home. If it is like this at the local Spur one doesn't have to wonder how many cars drive away from other pubs/ bars/ hotels etc with drivers at the wheel who shouldn't be. It makes me mad.
  9. Well done! That right there is my goal. Still 10 kg's to go for me.
  10. Wow. Poor bowlers on the receiving end!
  11. I have found myself really enjoying fizzy water these days. Since I started last year on lchf I have stopped drinking anything other than the sparkling water and of course coffee. Disclaimer: I have never been a beer drinker though.
  12. Well done to all you losers on this here thread. Also to those who have been inspired by other peoples successes here to commit to losing some unwanted weight but are too shy to participate in the discussion, keep going. It's so worth it. As long as the number on the scale is going down and not up you are heading in the right direction. Even if it is only 100 grams in a month - it is better than the opposite! I have received a very pleasant surprise today - 99,7 kg!!!!!! WOOHOOOOOOOO Still a way to go but, YES!!! I have not seen anything under 100 for so long now I thought it was not possible.

  14. Another vote here for disabling power saving mode. Friend of mine went through the exact same thing and finally figured out that's what it was.
  15. Lol!!!I do actually sing that song to my kids quite often as a joke! I was actually thinking of a name change to slim-jim [emoji3]
  16. Funny enough, this past year I have done the least mileage on the bike but for me it has been all about the food.I have cut out all sugar, carbs and sweetners and added healthy fats. That's it. My whole life I have tried to get my weight under control and finally I have found the thing that works. Long may it continue.
  17. Thanks Myles. It's been a slow process but I have lost 200g short of 20kgs in the last 13 months.Next stop 90kg.
  18. Pleasantly surprised by the scale this morning. 100.6kg Sooo close to double figures now. It's been about 10 years since I last saw that number and never since I started cycling 6 years ago.
  19. I think sometimes the issue is that it is very difficult on some brakes to completely get rid of every single bubble and if you don't keep the rubber side down all the time it can result in spongy brakes if you do happen to store the bike upside down.
  20. Well, 3 days of severe stomach cramps (from what I suspect might have been dodgy biltong) saw me eating less than one meal in 3 days. I am happy to report that eating less definitely does cause one to lose weight! I finally managed to crack my December plateau and now have the 100kg mark firmly in my sights. As of this morning, I am 101.5kg. That gives me a total loss of 19kgs over the last 12 months.
  21. So proud of our boys down under. Let's hope they can stitch everything up tomorrow.
