    DNF at Epic

you did the right thing. You did the yards but just missed out on the glory days. No reason you can't go back and finish.
  5. saw that... very impressive. will be interesting to see tomorrow who spent too much over the last 3 days
  6. all the live tracking is telling me is that everyone is moving.... better than nothing i suppose
  7. i think this event has some real potential. dr evil and little evil have a lot of knowledge of the area and the route should be super. Can be a bit chilly that time of year....but soon forgotten 5 mins after the gun went off. I think ill be there for the inaugural event
  8. i also want a doughnut
  9. Brilliant course.... though but well worth the effort. Marshaling and route marking were perfect. Water points were well stocked. Will be back next year...fitter and faster. Thank you!
  10. ahg, the second last(i think) water point alone made it worth the effort
  11. I am using the Thule one and quite impressed to date. http://www.thule.com/en/ZA/Products/Luggage/LuggageAndPacks/Crossover-25L-MacBook-Backpack
  12. the giant suspension setup is better but heavier for same material
  13. will it help with my fitness ?
  14. oh, is that what the bike cost youve got a point - will still make a difference though.
  15. you cant go wrong with XT wheels, not the lightest but rock solid and good good price.
  16. Very big! edit: but also depends how you ride but the benefit will come in when you climb
  17. I only had a quick look and only saw DT-17's
  18. i got complete wheel set for between R7000 and R8000. I run them tubeless with only only stans rim tape - non tubeless tyres (i run a bit higher pressure at the back 2.2-2.8bar. I've used them on a couple of multi day events also. I have nothing bad to say about these wheels.
  19. im not sure about the 17's you refer. I've got a wheelset with Alex XCR XC rims 32 hole/28 hole back/front with A2Z hubs, they come in at 1295grams. Im quite aggressive rider and they still hold true after many hours. Im of the opinion that they are very good value for money compared to even the old Stans RC 7000 (i think). have a look at www.alexrims.com for they weights
  20. i have no experience on this - but miway support cycling in sa, if possible support them

    9kg hardtail

No Pedals ? If you only look at grams/cost - Look at the Travativ Noir Crank (can pick it up new around R2900 - just check weight difference over nex XT crank) Go for Notubes rimms, (Alex rimms are also good value) Light spokes (double butted maybe) American classic or A2Z hubs Lighter tyres (450-600grams) Only rimm tape in tubless conversion. Look quarts pedals Use XT cassette (11-32 or 11-34) my tips
  24. or have it at a place where you can ride alos, so you bring your stuff and go for a ride. more reason to travel
