  1. Will the courier be willing to trace back sender? This scam just seems odd, why send anything anyway? I assume he had the money before shipping or did you pay on receipt of AirWayBill, l which could easily be forged anyway...so dumb criminal goes to the expense of shipping something anyway? Please explain Peta?.....
  2. In a normal world, sub-contractors are monitored to ensure they comply with the terms of their contract....non-compliance usually means non-payment....
  3. Dealing with Garmin SA...only good things experienced... I lost the dust cap from my Edge 1040S, replacement nowhere to be found, even at main shop in Dubai, so I wrote Garmin SA to find out about stock, long delay later they responded, wanted to confirm it was the Edge 1040S, and then a week later for my address, today I got a package from them, 2 dust covers...lekka man lekka! Thanks Alice and Lesego! Garmin SA...
  4. Here's some footage of the section from Seal Point to Bruces (St Francis)...

  9. How's that part of the world for winter bikepacking?
  10. I am happily assuming that the i and e is missing between the B and S, since past experience has triggered fond memories of survival in part due to this famous elixir known for warding off the cold brought on by hours of submergence in the freezing Atlantic Ocean!
  11. Jislaaik...but you did survive!!! Thats good but has given me pause for thought!
  12. Yip, plus points to sandpit airlines...particularly Qatar...many years of flying 4-6 times a year with them, never been charged once...even flew back with 2 bikes once pasella, when one of our crew was delayed on return...)I still think he could have flown with us but who am I to question the surgeons and their opinions of his broken neck which they insisted on fixing before he could come home...PS, he recovered 1000% and last seen him at a gravel gran fondo not so long ago!)
  13. Flown with bike for years...every now and then I do the declaration thing just to update the document cause once a customs guy on arrival got a bit snotty and thought I may be involved in the resale of really dirty, grimy old second/third/fourth hand bicycles for big profit! ...in CTN airport at departures, turn left when you come in the door as you enter and go to the end, there is a SARS kiosk down there...have a pic of any serial number (usually under bottom bracket) handy, fill in the form, show them the bike, your ticket and passport and a you'll get the form......never once have I been asked for proof of purchase....have the form handy if you come across the same suspicious officer when you come back home.
  14. Cold....survivable?....camping? Any permits needed?
  15. I would do my nut if a camera car constantly kicked up dust in front of me!🤨 Edit oh wait, I would be near the back, no camera cars!🤣

  18. Yip, there were 2, one on either side of the road....I stopped to take some pics and they were dead still just staring at one another across the track, then the one took off, just made it across in front of that gang....joined its mate and they both trotted off in to the desert...
  19. Through the desert....

  21. Sunset cruz after the daily melt....
  22. Thanks...temps...HA!!! A devilish HOT FRONT hit the area the day we started...Day 1 by 09h00 it was 30! By 12, we had to shelter under a bush for 2hrs...maxxed out at 48!!! Day 2 was a bit cooler but still well over 35! Day 3 and 4 was predicted to remain in the upper 30's....I ride to enjoy, not to endure...we pulled the plug ....... Arnie once said... I'll be back!
  23. road is fine, a bit bumpy with corrugations but there were plenty of "small" cars in the area a few weeks back...
  24. the report was "cyclists in areas that have been closed off due to fire damage. The public is urged to comply with all trail closures to ensure their safety" https://www.facebook.com/TableMountainNP
  25. Looks like a major co-ordinated response to this! Lots of community support for the guys on the fire-line which is a really scary place to be.... However, there are reports of cyclists on trails that have been shut down....why?! Thrill seekers, youtubers? whatever...if there is anyone on the Hub who was part of this...the guys fighting fires have a dangerous enough job, don't put them in more danger by them having to come rescue you! Jeez man, this is a major catastrophe and they don't need rubber-neckers getting in the way....
