  1. Run your tyres a tad harder, the first 100k is just ground roads. When you enter the real Baviaans it get a bit rocky but once past Bergplaas it's back to g.roads. I see the finish is now at Fountains mall I hope we don't have to climb that crap hill from Kabeljous river to the top
  2. If you want good advise search last years topic and look at Azonics posts. All the info you require. My 2c....Put your light on before bergplaas-too many teams are scratching in boxes at that stop.Do not spend time at Pakhuis once you sit and enjoy the warm fires you will battle to get going.
  3. I think you could ride the TB on semi slicks --no problem, only the area right in the wilderness is rough. The rest is gravel roads-lets hope for the same weather as last year.
  4. most non ust tyres leak through side walls but with enough stans In a day or two they do seal.Just did Sani on a Xking no issues and its a backyard Duct-tape rim strip.
  5. looks like a bit of rain

    attekwas advice

  7. yes must agree that singletrack was build by a expert ,it really is special and well laid out some flying downhill sections.
  8. mmmm I feel a braai coming on and great riding terain definitely not flat country.
  9. 2010 I was on a 26 and my first ATTA last year 29ER same route and nearly a hour faster.Yes I might have bee a lttle bit fitter but the 29er does make the last 50k go faster. Hoping to beat 7hrs this year.
  10. ditto--on the slow start, take 20%off your normal pace for the first 30km once you get to the Spur stop some 70k into event the real vasbyt starts. Great event ,I dont think intervals is as important as km in the seat and a couple of long days in the sun remember the temp can get crazy on race day.
  11. those East London okes know how to party
  12. well done Benni Name and shame the bastard
  13. Do not take injection into the knee--short term fix- find the real problem stretch-put your left foot over the right then flex your hip out to the right side, now take your left arm and reach down past your left knee this will stretch the iband switch for left side
  14. some years ago I had 14000 taken off my credit card. The purchase was at Makro I do not even own a Makro card. Nedbank gave all my bucks back but now all my cards have a 3000 limit. Be careful the banks usually allow 90 days for your objection if fruad is suspected.
  15. You have to have a compressor and a adaptor, also you must remove the inner removable valve section to allow max air into the tyre. Then lots of soapy water painted all aver the tyre and inner rim with a paint brush. I have always ridden with non ust tyres and have never had problems. It does help with a new tyre if you have a buddy to help move the tyre around a bit on the rim while you inflate.
  16. highlight getting to Pakhuis just on darkness lowlight-mud after checkpiont 6 and partner crashing coming down bergplaas luckily not injured gravelrash only.
  17. It is amazing how the weather can change in Hogsback last year day one was wet,day two was dry until 10 k from the end and day 3 was dry. As Dr d says it is a party with the stages usually shorter on day one and 3, day 2 is the longest. Racing is usually completed by lunch time and then R&R and the daily prizegivings at night is one big party. Great event.

  19. Relax sunny day saturday but mooer cold early
  20. Yes a small cut on the side of the knee and that releases the itb and it stretches out a little. The pain on the side of the knee you usually get after running or cycling will never return
  21. About Neverender being wet --yes water is flowing over bridge so straight after Kondoma stop-- you will cross the water--- maybe carry your dry socks with you and put them on once you have crossed the bridge, that will be the last water crossing on the route. It is quite a long crossing.
  22. Do the surgery asap I had both done some years ago and never looked back.
