  1. The manufacturers are possibly comparable, but I think both models sit a little bit higher up the tree than Golf and A3...
  2. Hot and dry without a doubt. Mud @#$s up bikes, having been a mountain biker for 25 years, I'm over the "but MTBs are made for mud, don't be a sissy!" BS. They're not. Exposed drivetrains are not designed to be dragged through grinding paste.
  3. Yep, what he said.
  4. It's amazing how SC has gained appeal amongst less hardcore riders in the last few years, all thanks to the Tallboy. 5 or 6 years ago none of the less technically skilled marathon, stage racer, dirt roadie, weekend warrior types would have even known about Mr Rosskop's bikes.
  5. Here I was thinking you meant right before the ride... I tried having a Guinness before a lap at a 24hr race in January. Bad idea, I felt terrible for 2 laps after that. Granted, it was warm, so I'm going to try an ice cold one next time!
  6. Haha, yeah. Perfectly practical on a cassette
  7. Don't bet on the black lasting... My XX1 ring's black was gone after 2 rides.
  8. Greg Miller and Gary Barnard could probably also be added to that list...
  9. I have a spare 36t XX1 blade which I haven't used, have been tempted to try it out...
  10. Don't buy new at that price, as sensible as it may seem. You're going to kick yourself once you've put a few miles in. Look for something like this: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/68346-schwinn-moab-26er/ (Yes, I know that bike's down here in the Cape, but it's an almost sure bet with so little mileage on it)
  11. Double-post. Oops.
  12. My feedback (echoing what Capricorn quoted): They're not called *Racing* Ralphs for nothing. One doesn't just simply get light weight, high performance and durability in a single package. You need to pick two of the three.
  13. That's a pretty fancy training bike!
  14. Yep, it's pretty much the best bang for buck in most instances.
  15. Here are the distributors, they're in Cape Town: http://www.camissabicycles.co.za/
  16. I wonder how much that chain guide weighs....? (Just kidding )
  17. Here you go: 180: http://www.cwcycles....-rotor-ice-tech 203: http://www.buycycle....mm-shimano.html Edit: Just realised these are centrelock, and too lazy to scan and read whether you need 6-bolt (likely?)
  18. Nuts. Totally nuts.
  19. Life is all about getting a 29er to sub 10kg... ...and then bombing it down the tech stuff to the bottom. Such beautiful juxtapositioning.
  20. I'd take it off both your hands, but I recently bought a 180g Superlogic carbon post. Sorry.
  21. I thought you were paying *him* to take it off you?
  22. Yep, the main reason I run them. They also make this cool pulsing sound, love it.
  23. He's a cool guy, although quite odd in person really. We briefly chatted to him at Worlds and got his autograph, the man didn't have much to say. Stevie on the other hand was all jokes and chirps!
  24. True words!
