  1. Why would you do this? What do you prove to others and to yourself? Look here is my medal, but I had to cheat to get it. He is so pathetic. I hope they investigate this and take his medal away. They can give it to Xolani who deserves it.
  2. This is so funny! He finished in 10:17... even with his dancing in between. I guess that is what I was doing wrong.
  3. We should all troll him on Facebook. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. The Championchip mats should be at random spots on the route. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  5. I have been thinking hard about it and I am also leaning towards option 2. If I can finish Comrades with a serious pain in my butt, imagine how Comrades would feel being 100% healthy (and fit)
  6. While the Comrades hype is still in the air... Which option are you leaning towards at the moment: 1. I am never ever putting myself thru that pain again 2. I am going to train very hard for next year it is going to be so much easier, even if it is an up run.
  7. I am completely in shock that Ann won. She was definitely the dark horse. What a wonderful surprise. The focus was so much on Camille, Gerda and Charne. I am happy for Gerda, she worked so hard. I have so much respect for these top runners. Ann's avg was 4:06min/km... (and she was running negative splits) My mind just cannot comprehend this pace for that route. 9. Absolutely terrible. The clubs couldn't see the runners coming in. After you finished you walk forever to get back into the stadium. Once you are back there are no signs where you are. I prefer the old stadium. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  11. What a day. All I can say is I survived. Yesterday was by far my toughest Comrades. I didn't have plan, I just wanted to finish. I achieved that goal. My back and glute started aching at 16km into the race. I took some pain medication but nothing seemed to help. The thought of stopping went 1000 times through my mind. The thought of a DNF next to my name kept me going. It still feels unreal that I finished. I was walking the last 3 km when I realized I had enough time to make it. I guess the lesson learned from this Comrades is that you need to be in tip top shape to run this grueling race. (and yes we as runners ignore this rule too often) Congratulations to some excellent times guys!! Wow Barry I am so impressed with your wife. Andrew, well done to you and your wife. Ferret, that is some excellent running!! Lexx, that is an amazing time. Your hard work paid off. Enjoy the well deserved rest. I am going drinking now with my club mates. 12. Good luck to all my hub friends, especially to all the novices. I know you are $h1t scared right now, but that is quite normal. Remember to start slowly and do not stop, no matter what. I hope everyone achieve the goals that you worked so hard for, from January until now. May the thought of all your sacrifices and hours and hours of training be the motivation to keep moving forward on Sunday. PS. We want to see close up photos of silver medals on Monday! PPS. Come to think of it, it is a HUGE achievement to finish this race, no matter what your time is. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  13. My colleagues are carbo-loading with me today, apparently, you need carbs to watch Comrades for 12 hours.
  14. You can download the Comrades App on your phone
  15. We are also staying in Amanzimtoti. The bus is leaving at 3 am. At least you can try and sleep a bit on the bus, but normally you are way too nervous. It is a very long day.... but so worth it!
  16. Should we start a Google excel sheet with starting group and expected finishing time?
  17. Very important note from Bruce's article: "No one sleeps well the night before the Comrades marathon so the important night’s sleep is on the “night before the night before ( Friday night)"
  18. And you have to wake up at 2 am on race day if you live on Durban's side. They should really give all Comrades runners compassionate leave the week before Comrades. Believe me, you are not alone. You and 21 000 people feel exactly the same. One of my colleagues acted bravely today. He picked a fight with me... It didn't end well for him. I went for more needles on Monday, almost cried like a baby. I asked the physio if anyone has ever started crying from his therapy. He laughed and said no. He did say he does not normally butcher his patients the way he is doing with me right now due to the time constraints. Yesterday, I felt a bit better. I am feeling very stressed as I am aware of my glute all the time. I had a 5km treadmill run this morning to test my butt. The first kilometer I felt very stiff but it felt better after 10 minutes or so. I am feeling a bit sore now, so the stress levels are very high. I am seeing the physio again tomorrow, for my last strapping. He said I will be ok on Sunday, I might feel pain but I cannot break anything. I am concentrating on staying positive and healthy at the moment. Trying not to think of anything negative. Sunday can really come now.
  19. There is no space on the bus anymore. We need some to get off the bus, please! I went to the physio on Saturday, the needles hurt like hell! I was in serious pain. Going back again today, no running for me this week, until our Comrades pre-run on Saturday. Please stay healthy guys, a couple of days to go. Don't do anything stupid this week.
  20. In summary, in non-medical terms, my spinal cord is misaligned. My alignment got worse because of running. I pronate badly on my right side, since the first day I was running. My left leg is 1 cm shorter than my right leg, and the chiro thinks my neck is trying to keep my body aligned while running. The nerves from my neck are connected to the rest of my body, which includes the stomach and intestines. Symptoms of a C1 (Axis) misalignment include nausea, leg length, dizziness, insomnia, energy loss. I think in my case, I didn't get neck pain, or any other pain, just the nauseous feeling. The first time he explained all if this to me, I thought this is BS. If I have to pinpoint when exactly my nausea started, it was after my second Comrades. I think my alignment got worse over time, over the longer distances and my nausea got worse. The chiro actually said all long distance runners should get a check-up to make sure your body is aligned. I chatted with the receptionist and she said they treat lots of runners with ITB as well. I find it very interesting, and I can't believe the results. I will go into maintenance mode after Comrades so it does not get out of hand again. I have been for needles before for a calf injury... It is very painful but there is nothing that works so quickly. My legs as well... Not much running happening until the 10th. I guess I will have a proper taper this year.
  21. So I have unfortunately joined the injured / sick Comrades bandwagon. The chiro sessions have helped tremendously with my nausea but my glute is causing serious butt pain. I had another chiro session this morning and nothing seems to help for the pain. I am going for dry needling tomorrow (got an emergency appointment, I think the physio could hear the panic in my voice)... I hope I haven't left it too late. How are the rest of you doing?
  22. I remember my first Comrades in 2014. It was a down run. When I came into Pinetown I literally had nothing left in the tank. The sub 11-hour bus came past me and I thought well I am now definitely not going to make it. I finished in 10:54... Busses just make me nervous for no apparent reason. (Another tip for the novices out there. Run your own race. If a bus helps and you can keep up with their pace, great! If you can't keep up, don't exhaust yourself to try and keep up with them. Don't stress about it, some of the bus drivers don't make it in the final kilometers)
  23. To be honest not a huge fan of Buks either... Well, I am not a fan of busses in general.
  24. Why would she post all over social media she had to do a drug test if she had something to hide?
