  1. Haha, for some reason I didn't expect Vetseun to be a Iggy person!
  2. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer then, because the gate guards would allow me in just for the guards on patrol to chase me away. Maybe depends on the luck of the draw. On my next visit I will try to speak to some higher authoritive person and report back. Hopefully they are open for negotiations.
  3. I think he is actually their South African Marketing Manager. He has 5 Spez bikes.
  4. Hey Cheese One of the most useful apps for gravel riding is OSMAND. The iPhone and Android premium versions cost R5.00 - R20.00. The App can be used to access a gpx file from a phone. You are able to save this file, and follow it with only your GPS active. You are able to view this route offline, as Osmand allows downloadable offline maps. However, it displays only the route, and yourself as a marker. You won't get any warnings or notifications when diverting off-route that 'wakes up your locked phone', but will be more than sufficient for this race.
  5. Great, I just wanted to be sure. Thank you
  6. Eveza, would you please give a bit of a description of the 4 support table that would be available? Will it mostly be water and sweets? Or will there be something like boerie-rolls and banana bread?
  7. Ah ok, never knew that! I see that there is something like Tridenosen-H for humans, but looks like the composition is very different and too much hassle for a bit of ATP.
  8. Tridenosen actually is actually as close to a magic bullet that you will ever get! It has been used successfully in horse- and greyhound racing for the past decade. The good thing about it is that it can be used before a race and after as an recovery aid. The only problem for cyclists, is that it needs to be injected in the muscles, so it would be easy to see if a cyclists took a few shots.
  9. It was previously timed by Championchip. A-bunch times are +- 2h30 -2h35 for the 102-105 km. Not too sure about the Elites winning times, I think they were held up by a taxi accident or something
  10. Correction: You rode Emporors in Sub 3. You did it in 2:59:91
  11. This year's CCMNC was my first ever road race, so I didn't know the differences between all these roadie timing companies. I'll anyway need a Racetec for Amashova. Thanks
  12. Hi Gerald, seeing that the race is now timed by Racetec, is there still a use for my Championchip? Would I need to purchase a Racetec - chip?
  13. Maybe because it costs less than biltong and nuts. However, they don't state the weight content of the R329 tub, so it is difficult to compare.
  14. I think you are exaggerating how little 5 mm is... Don't want to know how you measure 5 inches..
  15. I am leaving Rietvlei @ 08h30. There will be quite a few people riding the normal Lido Loop so I doubt we'll be alone.
  16. Thank you Dr., but that session is still completely HR based. Are there any power related goals that a cyclist should be able to obtain within those intervals to be competitive? Example: A world tour sprinter should be able to develop 1200 watts for 10 seconds, a climber should be able to generate 350 watts for 20 minutes. Power unlike HR does not have a threshold, which can be used to compare different athletes and their forms and fitness.
  17. I dont know what all the fuss is about, just strap your HR Belt to your dog for 30 minutes. My Italian Greyhound sleeps at 160 bpm. Bobs your smoothie
  18. Dr Swart, would you please be able to release a typical intensity session you suggest to a XCO pro cyclist during peak season? I would love to see a workout for Phil Buys in his final preperation week before Rio. 20 min warmup @ 250 W? 3 x 5 min interval @ 400 W? 20 min cooldown @ 150 W?
  19. Thats a crazy route! Your trip seems to go counter clockwise, and if that is the case you are going to ride up Sani and Afriski on day 5 and 6? They are both HC climbs, but I am sure you already knew that. Are you planning on camping during your trip? I just can't seem to get a nice 5 day, +-400 km route through Lesotho at the moment but I think this route going down Sani would be my best shot.
  20. Thanks Gerald, I would really like to join. It is very nice of you and GW to open the event to other cyclists.
  21. https://www.strava.com/activities/504093907 The new sections is the long out and back route shown in the ride.
  22. I also suggest having a good medical aid. But just something for all you guys who mentioned "It would've cost me ..." You won't pay that amount regardless, as almost all off the costs occured by someone in a public hospital, is payed by taxes. My fiance who works in Tswane Hostipal told me about someone who has been there for 5 years after a motorcycle accident. He has had the best surgeons, dieticians, care-takers and phisiotherapists and he hasn't paid a cent. And there are wards full of such cases. Medical Aid just gives you the benefit off immediate assistance, instead of being 4th or 5th in the queue in the public casualties department not knowing when the doctor will help you.
  23. Just how much *** can a bunch of English guys talk?
  24. Pretoria- Die Moot. There are some nice trails which the Friends of the Magalies built!
