  1. The problem lies within the machined rail spacer. I have used various Cobalt Seatposts and the newer ones are worse. The newer seatposts's (all the stock that Bicciletta sold) spacers were machined to a 9mm rail and sold as a 7mm saddle unit. Tightening the clamp over 8Nm could cause the threading to seize, seeing that it is stainless sleel. I rolled hard plastic around my rails, then tightened them. No problems thus far.
  2. In severe cases it will be affect your nerves, so that you will lose feeling in your fingers and toes.
  3. I'm not sure, but here are my reasons: People with undiagnosed Lebers disease used B12 and went blind. Mothers feeling a bit lethargic during breastfeeding used B12 too much and harmed their babies. The age old problems: Mixing B12 and alchohol and they don't read the labels on the vitamins. I would still say take your chance at Dischem's dispensary without a prescription.
  4. Damnit, I must then be a doper too. My steroids were contaminated with MHA by a pharmacist, it isn't my fault. I would never intentionally use MHA.
  5. Where is this 'platkoppie'? I have never heard of such an hill and I don't recognize it from the photo. I am hoping to include that climb in my rides around Vereeniging.
  6. The bike in picture has its crank on the left side. Anyway, cool article
  7. Cycledelic.co.za I can't vouch for them, but I see their ads in all the major cycling publications so they seem ok.

Something that I saw pro riders do to prevent components breaking if they fall, is to loosen the bolts that attach the components to the handlebar or fork. The idea is that the rotation will dampen some forces, to which the rider can just re-adjust and continue. I wonder if that will also reduce the risk of a brake lever penetrating your skin.
  10. Ja Hanro, ek sal verseker daar kom ry. Jan-Hendrik
  11. Lekker man! 1/2 mile drag on Houtkop, a brandy to the winner. I will be at the next CM in September, can't make this one. Enjoy!
  12. @Skystar It only shows South African websites. And also limited to websites that use Effective Measure coding to track traffic. @Raydek It will only be able to show SA porn websites... something like www.ladiesandbicycles.co.za

    Slow Poke

Lactate threshold is just a stepping stone to the next level. I would recommend that you leave the heart rate monitor and 'training zones'. It is your first triathalon, so rather focus on the scenery, energy and atmosphere of the race. Pacing Guideline: If you are able to small-talk with the people next to you: you are going to slow. If you feel the arteries in your head pumping; you are going to fast.
  14. Yikes, cause I ordered two weeks ago while the still had stock to allow it to be delivered before my dad's birthday next week. I hope it arrives before then. I have a question: Can a body reach a metabolic state of glycosis (complete opposite of ketosis), where most of your energy store is supplied from carbs and starches, without having a high blood glucose level? The LCHF lifestyle proves that the body's ability to adapt is incredible and is capable of building a metabolic 'memory'. I'm not talking about carbo-loading, but rather a state where your body regulates blood sugar much faster to prevent hyper/hypo-glycemia. Anyway, it would've been a good control experiment to show the benefits of LCHF regardless.

  16. Good, now quickly go to Jeffery's and accept the weather as "pleasant & nice" as well, otherwise it doesn't help.
  17. I like this thread, it's almost 13h00 and no one has brought up Beeld's front page article.
  18. Cool for taking initiative. I will miss this one, but I'm there for September's ride! What is the planned route?
  19. Just something I picked up; you mentioned the only fat you use during a race is MCT and above you mentioned you use Cadence Marathon with a high maltodextrin content... That sounds like a lot of strain that you put on your liver and kidneys during a race. I don't think "drink enough water" will even be sufficient. Combining this with a LCHF (red meat for protein source) will really push your body to its limits. I'm just concered of future kidney stones/failure of such a mixture.

    Advice

I like to see some photos, even if it is just nameboards of the towns you ride through. Taking a few photos (NOT SELFIES) from your phone will be cool. Regarding the internet, Ill sponsor a R100 of airtime that you can convert to data. Just pm me your cell nr and network.
  21. Another strava-fail: There are only 2 HC-climb segments in the Gauteng region and both are near Carltonville. Both are steeper than Alpe d'Huez. My only explanation is someone recorded a segment on a gold freight train out of Western Deep Levels. Best troll ever

  24. As I understand if there is any way of invitation (private or public), it will be classified as an event. So unless 100 cyclists accidently stumble upon the course, you will need to inform CSA. Because once you invite someone, you become liable for their actions/injuries during that event.

    Have you ever

Because I know 99% of cyclists are the same as me: If you see someone on a better/prettier bike than yours, you will stare and evaluated it and come to the conclusion that the cyclist is a rich spoilt ex-golfer than doesn't appreciate or deserve his steed. If you see someone on a worse/uglier bike than yours, you keep looking forward, flex the calves and try to like like a pro. If a new R 80K model bike is in the shop, you pull the brakes, pump the front fork and look as if you are really considering buying it (which will never happen.)
