  1. jy kort nog n paar Deon Meyer boeke
  2. I was extremely fortunate to receive a Matumi slab. It was an old Giant that got blown over, with multiple internal aging defects. So it was not deliberately cut down in case you are wondering. I estimated the slab weighs over 120kg, so handling such a beast by a wannabe woodworker required some Tarzan bars swallowed down by a few Brakpan cappuccino's. Somehow the river table concept did inspire me, but without the resin center. The slab had a huge taper, so making a 10 seater with 800mm wide top end and 1200mm wide bottom end was too rustic for my liking. So the the decision was taken to split the slap in the center, inverse one side to achieve a rectangular shape. Only once the slab was split and and placed through a thicknesser, did many of the internal hidden defects came to light. All the above was completed over a 2 year period. Let's just say I have exhausted my swearword vocabulary, filling all the cracks with resin. Many school fees were paid, and I will do many things differently. I wanted some industrial look to the table, so I resorted to my Grade 2 metalwork skills. Welding square tubing to 10mm flat-bar without it pulling skew with my experience is impossible, while using a 25 year old arc welder. All that's left now, is to get a glass company to cut the inner glass to the contour of the edge. Not easy, as the table is 3.2m long. I'm still wrestling what would be the best way of doing this, as I need to router the depth and contour. Probable wisdom will come in time after a few Brakpan cappucijo's
  3. Some of my Coivid projects are eventually getting done One thing about a Cruiser with 370,000km on the clock, every panel at the back is asymmetrical
Ek sal egter dit sê: ‘n Man in pyn is ‘n ellendige wese bitter ver van sielsaligheid af! Ek groet taamlik kortaf want my derms begin reeds waarskuwend optree. Dink waar het ek die mannetjie- en vroutjiebordjies gesien en onthou toe daar is ‘n geriefie net by die ingang - of is dit nou uitgang - gegewe my huidige posisie….. Kort treetjies, Sarita, kort treetjies, probeer ek myself kalmeer. Want binne in my is dit alles behalwe! Kort treetjies, Sarita, kort treetjies! Kort treetjies……. Nood is nood.

  11. That's interesting. Send some pics if you succeed
  12. That is for sure n huge risk with a bore hole. You are not guaranteed any water. With solar you have at least not that risk. Does one insure your Solar system, and if so what is the monthly premium on a R90k system
  13. Looking to soundboard the following: Monthly utility bill for a typical summer month: Water, R 2,500.00 approx R 11.00 for 1kl (including VAT and Demand side levy) Sewerage cost is not included in the above. I do have a garden that requires some water, and a 40,000l swimming pool Electricity, R 1,850. R2.77kWh (including VAT, Network surcharge, service charge and Network charge) Winter this figure is higher off coarse. I have a normal 200l geyser I'm Joburg based. Taking all future risk scenarios into consideration: City Power, load shedding, old infrastructure and failing substations, tariff increases Joburg Water, repairing old infrastructure, availability to healthy water, tariff increases. I have small 5.5kW generator and a 1.2kVA UPS (For CCTV, Router and internet) for load shedding days. All alarms and and electric fence are installed with double battery back-up Safety is probably high on the list priority for us. Budget estimate for a 5kW Solar package, including some batteries (AGM) = R 90,000.00 Grid tie solution. Then change over to pre-paid system To sink a 100m bore hole will cost around R 70,000.00 To reduce the monthly running cost of the house is paramount. Both services are essential to us. Investing into either one is something for consideration. Payback is my issue, this is a long term decision. Not having water, or electricity is also a problem. In which resource would you invest into?
  14. Fans that make the wind ???? Cycled the worst corrugated road ever!

  18. SA, the country of opportunity. We decided to have a braai on the M2 highway. What an awesome morning out. The constructions workers just laughed at the Malungu's braai-ing on the highway. They did inform us that they are behind schedule, and that the interchange will not open at the end of October
  19. Outside Lydenburg
  20. Off the topic a bit. Who would you recommend in JHB for a cardio related issue that specializes on athletes? Apologies for the hijack
  21. Thanks DJR That's awesome. How many babies did that cot see?
  22. This was a project that took way longer than expected. 3 months before birth, and 6 months there after. Used Raw Blackwood boards which my dad purchased around 20 years ago in Knysna. Using an electrical handplaner was a really time consuming and crappy job. Time to buy a thicknesser!!! 76 Joints took even longer. It is a knock-down unit, so it can be dismantled and stored when he outgrows it. The wheels will be removed when we don't have to get up every 4 hours to feed him.
  23. Reviving an old thread. Managed to get one pass the goalie since then and now a proud father of a 4 month laaitjie. I see most options are for toddlers older than 9 months. What option is most comfortable for dad and baby? With what duration does one start with time wise? Possible area to ride at first will be in the Spruit, and was thinking of using my old 26er for this initial exercise And comments and advice from Hubland?
  24. Mine too + colic
