  1. Have to agree - I have the pleasure of working with him on this race and some others and he is so good at what he does. SA's version of Phil Ligget
  2. Four top international professional cyclists who will be riding in the 94.7 will also be doing a 'TwitterRide' the day before the 94.7. Included in the ride will be DanMartin from team Garmin Cervelo, Dean Downing from team Rapha-Condor-Sharp, Russ Downing from Team Sky and Stephen Roche. They will be joined by local sporting legends Joel Stransky and Francois Pienaar, among others. Anyone is welcome to join the Twitter ride which will start and finish at Waterfall Country Estate, the same finish venue as Cycle Challenge Sunday. Participants will cover a gentle 35km and rolling road closures as well as marshals and medical support will ensure the safety of participants. Momentum has generously laid on some coffee and muffins at the finish area, where cyclists can also get photographs and autographs with these cycling stars Follow the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge on Twitter @momentum94.7, and like the Facebook page to ensure you're up to date on all the info
  3. Well done Carte Blanche. I know we would have like more in the 12 minutes but lets not knock one of the few groups that aired the story. The police are the ones that should be investigating this, Carte Blanche gave awareness to the problem. We know about the problem because it affects us, people who dont ride have no idea. Lets keep up the momentum!!
  4. I have to agree, there are so many well run races in SA and many people who could run this event. CSA should stick to managing and developing the sport. Outsource these events to professional organisations that have the capacity to run a successful event.
  5. I use BikeMate GPS for the iPhone. I really great app and works well. The only problem is where is mount youe iPhone4
  6. I see the MTB results are up http://www.cyclechallenge.co.za/
  7. I think many entered but did not start and many started but did not finish. The N14 looked like a war zone in the late afternoon.
  8. The social tandems started at 07:33 last year and this moves to 07:54 this year, so 21 minutes later. This is due to the additional minute added to each start group to avoid congestion at the finish. Groups (after the initial racing groups) do go in alphabetical order and start exactly on time Lets hope its not too hot and the rain stays away. Ride safe
  9. SMS's go out on 25th October
  10. I dont know what some people are on about, what other race in SA is going to offer full road closure (apart from the Argus) I think its a great race
  11. Did the guys get away?? I hope not.
  12. I've had a 305 for about 2 years and never a days problem. But based on many posts, I think if you have the money, go for the 705
  13. In too much of a good mood to get excited about this. Even in cycling you get idiots but the majority are positive. Let?s just go with it<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  14. Big screen to watch the game - only 4 hours to go and I cant wait
  15. I think the Bike park is fine, used it over the last year and never had an incident or know of anyone that has. Have fallen a few times!!!!
  16. Monday was my first visit to Groenkloof and what a great place just outside the suburbs of Pretoria. Had breakfast after the ride under the trees and really enjoyed it. I'll be back!!
  17. I have signed the petition and sent it on - I encourage all other Hubber's to sign and pass on to all cyclists. NF is a great place to ride and I would really hate to see this go
  18. Well said Shaun, something great done by cycling should be a celebrated and not a reason to attack those involed. I am pleased Lance is here and I hope he felt welcome in SA!!
  19. Robbie wins stage 2 as well - what a start!!!
  20. Well said MuXmAn <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It?s disappointing to see the amount of negative comments in this thread. This is going to be the biggest event our country has ever seen. Even if you don?t like soccer, get behind the event rather than moan. I remember during the RWC in 95 how many non-rugby supporters got behind the Boks, this is what made the event so unifying. For this reason I will go to a game and support a great South African event.
  21. Well done - I will be there on Sunday
  22. This is sad to hear, the only reason I started riding at NF was that there were a few incidents at the Spruit. I was there yesterday and its a great place to ride, I really hope this is an isolated incident. I will only ride in the morning over this period.
  23. This is a shock for someone who has done so much for cycling. He will be remembered.

    94.7

Mr Grumpy Cant disagree with you more, great race, great support, well organised and maybe a bit expensive
  25. Reading this I am surprised that the views are so different, I have bikes with both V and disk and would always chose disc brakes. They might cost more but there performance is way better!!!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
