    Johnny Koen

Johnny is a real professional and a great commentator. He also knows a lot about SA racing.
  3. I think the Bike park is fine, used it over the last year and never had an incident or know of anyone that has. Have fallen a few times!!!!
  4. Monday was my first visit to Groenkloof and what a great place just outside the suburbs of Pretoria. Had breakfast after the ride under the trees and really enjoyed it. I'll be back!!
  5. I have signed the petition and sent it on - I encourage all other Hubber's to sign and pass on to all cyclists. NF is a great place to ride and I would really hate to see this go
  6. Well said Shaun, something great done by cycling should be a celebrated and not a reason to attack those involed. I am pleased Lance is here and I hope he felt welcome in SA!!
  7. Robbie wins stage 2 as well - what a start!!!
  8. Well said MuXmAn <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It?s disappointing to see the amount of negative comments in this thread. This is going to be the biggest event our country has ever seen. Even if you don?t like soccer, get behind the event rather than moan. I remember during the RWC in 95 how many non-rugby supporters got behind the Boks, this is what made the event so unifying. For this reason I will go to a game and support a great South African event.
  9. Well done - I will be there on Sunday
  10. This is sad to hear, the only reason I started riding at NF was that there were a few incidents at the Spruit. I was there yesterday and its a great place to ride, I really hope this is an isolated incident. I will only ride in the morning over this period.
  11. This is a shock for someone who has done so much for cycling. He will be remembered.

Mr Grumpy Cant disagree with you more, great race, great support, well organised and maybe a bit expensive
  13. Reading this I am surprised that the views are so different, I have bikes with both V and disk and would always chose disc brakes. They might cost more but there performance is way better!!!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  14. I have had the 305 for about 14 months and never had any problems. But if I had the problems Tankman had, I would feel the same. But I am still thinking for a 705 upgrade for Christmas.
  15. Had my 305 for a year now and has never switched off as described. Also had some initial problems connecting to PC but once I downloaded new driver its worked everytime.
  16. You may ride a second lap but its real tight. You need to be back before the last group leaves which is at about 9:30 If you can get off in a ealry group it will give you time to get back by 9:30. The highway needs to be opened as soon as possible so very little time is allowed after the last group.
  17. I hate reading headlines like 'another cyclist hit' but when you know the person involved its even worse. I have known Jeff for many years and he has done a lot for cycling in SA. I really hope he and his wife recover completely - I also hope the bar*&ted is caught.
  18. For cyclists who race nearly every weekend, the medals mean little. However for a new cyclist (say doing the Argus for the first time) that medal is worth all the weeks of training. Should races continue to handout medals or look at way to reduce costs
  19. This fee does increase from R30 to R35 for 2010 and all this money is paid to CSA and not the organisers. Also have no idea what value I get for this????<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  20. If you can make it to water point one, then you will be able to make it to water point 1a - SAB world of beer in the city. Although not an official water point it will help you get to the next WP.
  21. Now how do we et Bob and mad Malemba to enter the Epic
  22. Think Bike make a major difference to races especially the dangerous ones. Their ability to ride ahead to make sure the next intersection is clear before the cyclists arrives make a big difference in terms of cyclist safety. Also their experience keeps growing with every race and many of the larger races are now getting TB involved.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  23. Its always sad to hear of a cyclist killed while riding. Condolences

    GPS

I see very varied replies to your question but I have a Garmin 305 and it works very well. I however use a Polar for HR because I upload to Discovery. But the Garmin is great!!
  25. Lance is the best ever TdF ride, this cannot even be questioned. This year Contador is very strong and will be a worthy winner. But Lance never attacked Contador once in the last 3 weeks. I really hope he gets onto the podium.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
