  1. A video of some groups at the start and some of the entertainment.
  2. Should have been there later in the day and particularly for the last riders, they were cheered across the line. If you have never been there at the end of the day it's well worth it, all the rescue vehicles bring the last cyclist home.
  3. Must agree with you - went there today and the queues were 10 min at most
  4. If you are parked by 8 you will be ok but it does take some time to get into the parking.
  5. This is the highest numbers of entries for the 94.7 ever?
  6. If you get one, please report back if its OK. Its well priced and I would be interested if it works well. Thanks
  7. I think Phil is great and cant imagine the TDF without him. He also does a lot for SA, we are always mentioned. Great guy and commentator
  8. I'm going to wait until they release the 31er and then we will have the 26/650b/29/31 debate.
  9. Great ride by Froome, just hope he has left enough for the two little hills tomorrow?
  10. Yes I have just starting using it and its quite good. It automatically uploads to your polar page (if you get discovery points) whereas my Polar watch needs to be "sync'ed" to my PC each time. The display is good and shows your heart rate levels in a graph nicely. Like it!!
  11. Hi I used to ride the Spruit often but stopped when the bike-jacking started. The Hub has gone quiet, how is the Spruit currently, are people still riding and have there been any recent incidents?
  12. I tried Auto & General and they quoted me R880 for a MTB??
  13. This is the old start, on you map, take the circle left at Ardeer road and follow the signs.
  14. I feel so sad and angry at the same time. When will this madness stop!!! RIP Burry, you are a hero
  15. I know I will be shot down but I use my iPhone in a shock/water proof case running Mapmyride/Cyclemeter software. The obvious negative is the battery but I get about 3.5 hours whichis fine for my riding. The positives for me are - large colour screen - online tracking (My wife can see where I am) - Intergrated with my heart monitor - can share rides with friends
  16. I am sure its always better to ride with someone but i have been riding the spruit on my own for the last 2 years. From Paulshof to Delta, some areas look a little dodgy but I think its realitvy safe.
  17. The Nespresso is a great machine, what bugs me is that the system that costs just over R3000 in SA costs R1900 in Germany - Same system???? I was there on business and would have brought it home if i had the space.
  18. These 'clowns' seed from the races listed - If you dont have times in these races how would they know. But they would reseed you on any additional info you provide.

    2012 94.7

This years race was the second biggest (a few years ago there were 28,000). I think the biggest reason is people riding without chips but have have to see registration on Sat afternoon to see how many people entered and never collected their race packs. Then you get a small number that dont pitch on the day and then the people who dont finish.

    2012 94.7

The last group is at 09:56 which is somewhat later than last year, will give about 35 min more than last year to get back to the start for the second lap.
  21. Its Ok but a little overrated/

    2012 94.7

The route will be slightly shorter than last year (and no St Andrews hill). The route now goes off the highway at Joe Slovo (the Wilds) and then on to the M1. This cuts out the loop around the hospital who had issues getting doctors, staff and patents into the hospital. Now the route is about 94Kms
  23. I can't agree. I have an Edge and have used it for a few years. I recently 'upgraded' to an iPhone mounted on my handlebars in a shockproof, waterproof case. I ran the Edge and the iPhone together for a while to compare results, they give very similar accuracy except the iPhone is a large colour display with many more screens of information. You can also be online and send your position while you are training to someone if you wish. There are just so many more options available including heart rate monitor and cadence on one display (and recorded together as one event) I have to agree that the battery life is its weak spot, I get just over 3 hours with screen and gps always on.
  24. Some of tthe points have been mentioned here but my view What I like It is stable (even more than my Garmin which from many threds on The Hub sometimes switches off) Large colour discplay As accurate as a dedicated device Not so nice It is fragile Battery life (althought the iPhone 4 will run with screen on for four hours)
  25. GPS system do calculate 3D and do take altitude into account.
